For the record, that's not what I said. Being involved in the discussions around a decision and being the person responsible for the decision are not the same thing. My other point remains - we don't know anything more after today's presser.

Fair enough, wasn't directly referring to your post, but Ratten was being coy. If say Lethlean, Finnis, Gallagher and Ratts had a sit down to talk about persuing DeGoey, the head coach would have just as much influence than anyone there.

Ratts made it sound like he is hands off, where they are anything but when it comes to DeGoey, thats all.

......"Balls deep into DeGoey, thats what I read from Rattens presser."

It's great that you can read Ratten's mind. What a terrific resource you are. We are lucky to have you.

Also ........"Balls deep".......really ?

Common sense says that if Cwood has pulled their offer then we would also cool somewhat to lower the price. I agree with Punter though. Nothing to see here.

whoosh. Straight over your dumb flat head. Jog on numpty

Which is Joff and is that Flamingo next to him
The flamer is your burner, admit it Risky.

I'll channel my inner Risky, oops I mean Flamer

My sources tell me DeGoey may or may not come to the Saints depends on a number of factors - stay tuned

Good shout.

Ive had my battles with depression and anxiety, nothing that required ant meds or "serious" treatment (not to downplay how serious both those conditions can be). Having access to facilities is one of the biggest battles with mental health issues.
Too right. I've also been suffering from anxiety and depression for the last few years and often have up to 3 month wait times to see my psychologist. It's terrible out there at the moment.

Without wanting to sound like having a crack - I'm not, can I suggest, if this is an option for you or of interest to you,
to look at employment with the federal public service. You get 10 free sessions a year and can apply for more if you're in a bad way.

You anywhere near Moorabbin? The wellness centre is for the public and being a Saints supporter would also be an advantage. Sorry to hear, look after yourself.

I am gratified that there are many, and I assume this only, men on here who feel confident enough to tell the world their mental health struggles.

I have been chatting today with my daughter whose condition leads to anxiety, and she has weaned herself off medication, so there are good days and not so good days, today is one of the not so good ones.

A someone who has never suffered any longterm mental health conditions but have been surrounded by loved ones with it (Mother, daughters, nieces, nephews) I try to understand something I can't but try to listen as much as possible and suppress my own selfishness when talking about it doesn't 'suit' me.
I went from bemoaning that Spuds Game meant nothing to see that it, along with societies willingness to be more aware and empathetic towards mental health that it is doing something.

Thanks mate.

I do get access to immediate over the phone help if I need it through my wife's work which is good to have.

Thankfully my issues are generally not severe so that waiting is not the end of the world.

Cousins had behavioral clauses. Granted he had much bigger issues he was coming back from but he was also a higher caliber than De Goey.

I’d suggest the club shoukd insist on them, if he doesn’t go for it let him stay at collingwood (or wherever).

Not putting some clauses in his contract woukd be idiotic.

difference is cousin was openly attending rehab, then not going, and ending up in ED in LA completely out of his mind after being on another binge. which resulted in clubs not wanting to go near him. he was openly trying to beat drug tests even after his 12 month suspension.

he literally had to beg richmond to take him, hence he took what ever contract was put in front of him.

DeGoey is no where near the same problem. he will have multiple suitors of different offers. he aint taking a contract where its not majority covered by base. he will want guaranteed income.

If she had not been fine with it DeGoey would have had his contract ripped up and nobody would have had sympathy for him.

If this was say Hunter Clark who did the exact same thing as Degoey, it would have been a story for 24 hours as he is a clean skin.
DeGoey has form, and to put himself in that situation was stupid at best.

we are all making the assumption collingwood's issue with DeGoey was the incident

Ffs if I have to say the same thing one more time.

Fine, then we don’t take him.

Do any other football facilities have a wellness centre like the one at Morrabbin?

Not being trite here but Morrabbin could be the best place for Jordan, would be there day in day out. But what would I know, never had a real mental health problem so ignorant on treatment.
all clubs have psych's... that would come to where ever the player is. i don't think the facility helps that one IOTA, its just bricks and mortar. the resources are already there in club land.

the health and wellness center would be more about community engagement on mental health, including past players who have exited the business, rather than be about listed AFL players.

One of the huge concerns over De Goey has to be his professionalism. Going to Bali over the bye just seems so dumb.

The flip side is you wonder how good he could be if things clicked for him.
i think we are getting closer to the concern here RE: bali trip

Were a finals side now so you kind of are saying "nah just the youth and lets hope and pray they wind up being good".

We have a known quantity right now that is close to flag material in a relatively weak comp. Its one in the hand two in the bush stuff.

are we a finals side? we are just in the 8 and have an incredibly tough draw to come.

we hope we are, but we wont know until further into the season.
