How exactly did we bungle his exit? Should we have given him a pack of Roses chocolates to smooth things over? We told him he wasn't good enough and he disagreed so bagged out the club on his way out. I think you're being fairly hysterical about the whole thing to be honest.
For a player to be that salty exiting the club isn't great. Part of this is on Spook, but the coach has to take some responsibility. It's not even about his performance. Surely nobody would want any player to leave the club being that upset especially one that had played for us so long

New narrative.

Lethlean, because he is under pressure is selling our future to get DeGoey across the line and destroying our salary cap.

Doesn't matter if it is remotely true or not, as long as it fits the catastrophizing of everything to do with the club.

You've just given them the idea for next year when something goes wrong!

I'd suggest that 75% of those not given contracts for the following year would be pissed off.
The difference is that they, unlikeDunstan, didn't go to the media and bitch about it. Showed a lack of maturity.

It is absolutely true.

He played in round 5 or 6 v Richmond (as JB posted).

He also cost us the game v Geel with his usual high standard of disposal.

Yeah you're right about his first game last year.

I'm talking about the back half of the season where despite being THE best performer in the VFL, it took ages for them to give him a game.

Same applies to Campbell late this year.

I have no problems with telling players at the end of the season they are not wanted or they may be behind players but when the new season starts and until it is over, you REWARD FORM.

Otherwise other players see exactly what is happening - the coaches are playing their favourites.

You are just trying to get in first. If it ****s up he's tying his own noose. It's absolutely part of the reason. They are trying to panic patch.

He's going to get superstar money like we gave Hill. At least he should work better in our side.

Lost himself a better paying job at the Suns.
You can't fix stupid.

Thing with Campbell is, when we have Ryder we wanted a 2 ruck system. When Ryder wasn't playing, we just wanted a one ruck system with RoMa.

The last game RoMa was cooked. Only had 8 touches and Campbell did most of the heavy lifting.

He played excellent in the twos, but he is pure back up in a one ruck setup

No just boringly obvious is all.

It will be really interesting to see what happens with JDG now. Will the money and years be too tempting for him?

He was upset in the way he was treated, nothing to do with the contract. Like I said, surely no one would be happy with players leaving the club with such a bad feeling and Luke is responsible, but it's one eyed to think our coaching staff couldn't have handled it better

You'd have to think that his manager isn't all too bright. The idea of allowing the cameras in further highlighted the lack of maturity.

Could have been getting regular senior game time on the GC.

Nah not true - Dunstan played 5 games this year in the team with the best midfield in the league.

Bytel couldn't even break into our midfield.
Dunstan can’t play anywhere except centre.

He is literally Vineys back up.

Or was..
Only had games when viney out injured.
First game viney missed he came in he got 80% CBAs
sparrow played 20%
2nd time viney out, he came in but lost some of that mid time to sparrow.
Then the other week when Oliver was out he didn’t get a call up and Sparrow split the duties with harmes.

So not sure if he will get in again.
Maybe if viney is out?

Who gives a f*** about Dunstan. What I have heard from people who have met him out , he is a massive flog. Jack Higgins a couple months ago was telling one of my mates the club should pay him more because he is the ex factor, his second half of the season showed why he is not getting more money. Which is a shame, when he is on, he is a jet.

Let me guess, I am trolling again?

I thought no way he would leave the pies
Would def have better facilities etc

But now they added the behave clause and he might want a change thinking hes doing no diff to a lot of other players.

We would need to have some protection for us though. It might not be a behave clause but it would be remiss of us not to have some form of protection.

Yes

Sure sounds like it.

I’m not saying it’s the gospel but if anyone watched “show me the money” Luke Dunstan literally says he’d rather go to a chippy apprenticeship than go back to the saints.

I have no doubt that the truth probably sits somewhere between Ratts story of “we love him but just needed a little tweak” and Dunstans of “Ratts told me to **** off and didn’t even give me a cabcharge”.

Consider for a minute that we made an approach to Angus Brayshaw this year though, do you think there might be a chance he had a quiet word with Luke? How do you reckon that convo would have gone? That’s the risk you run when you have players leave on such bad terms.

I believe in the tooth fairy

Yeah and player managers hear stories. It's not ideal.

I hope we keep Campbell on, I'd say he is about as good a backup ruck as you'd find, but I think we should mainly play Marshall sole ruck now.

When Marshall grabs it out of the ruck, it would be good to see us work on him handballing it to a runner or have a setup for a dump kick. He gets a lot of clearances with his dump kicks out of the contest, but I reckon they come back at least half the time
