Think he will get his wish in 2023.

Just saying that scared the few suitors away. Dumb is as dumb opens its mouth.
I’m not claiming we should have kept him or that he didn’t deserve the critique but what was the benefit to us to have a player leave on such bad terms?

He was upset in the way he was treated, nothing to do with the contract. Like I said, surely no one would be happy with players leaving the club with such a bad feeling and Luke is responsible, but it's one eyed to think our coaching staff couldn't have handled it better

Why is Dunstan different from any other player who is delisted because he is not up to it?

Do we think the pies would match and force a trade?

Yes. They are planning on bringing in McStay so any compo pick would be impacted.

So they either plan on matching any offer for him - and then we should walk away because giving up our first rounder for him defeats the purpose of targeting Free Agents - or they don't expect him to leave.

Love what Battle has done and have been pushing for him to go back to defence for a long time.

But to be fair, he's usually taking the third best forward with Howard and Wilkie mostly taking the main men.
How long did Howard miss where Battle had to take the number 1 forward?

No pleasing some people.

Conversely why was Luke one of a tiny minority that was so vocal about getting dumped?

I think the reasonable position is both parties probably didn’t handle it well.

We’ll absolutely arse a good trade period or draft at some stage. It’s just a matter of time.

One that we reflect back on, pissed, after winning our 2nd premiership. Not half an hour after the actual trade or draft.

Even idiots can fluke something every now and then. We are due. Well overdue.
You have to admire what they have done - we have brought in a young key forward who has unlimited upside , we scored most probably 3 of the best draft selections last year that could set us up for years to come.
And who knows what Coffield , Clark will produce next year and in saying that the potential of Sharman , Jack Hayes are untapped.

This year the recruitment department have there full complement of draft picks so I fully expect them to haul in some more exciting talent.

Howard missed 4 games. One of those Joyce came in.

I'm very pleased with Battle, I thought I made that pretty clear.

But I'm also realistic. He rarely takes the quality key forwards.
It’s such an unneccesary nitpick.

Of the 5 on that list 2 came from top 4 teams who have excellent defensive systems, 1 is in a top 8 team and the other is Charlie Ballard. Don’t feel the need to qualify those ones though do you?

I thought no way he would leave the pies
Would def have better facilities etc

But now they added the behave clause and he might want a change thinking hes doing no diff to a lot of other players.
Pretty sure we’d have some kind of behaviour clause too.
Or if we don’t, we should.

Yes I know It’s all been overblown yada yada yada, but he‘s been in the news for the wrong reasons a fair few times now.

No problem with getting him, as long as we protect our investment.

Who gives a f*** about Dunstan. What I have heard from people who have met him out , he is a massive flog. Jack Higgins a couple months ago was telling one of my mates the club should pay him more because he is the ex factor, his second half of the season showed why he is not getting more money. Which is a shame, when he is on, he is a jet.

Let me guess, I am trolling again?
Now it’s Higgins….
Anything positive to say about the players / club/ coaching staff or is the whole club just irredeemable?

Trolling? Yes, you are.

I’m not saying it’s the gospel but if anyone watched “show me the money” Luke Dunstan literally says he’d rather go to a chippy apprenticeship than go back to the saints.

I have no doubt that the truth probably sits somewhere between Ratts story of “we love him but just needed a little tweak” and Dunstans of “Ratts told me to * off and didn’t even give me a cabcharge”.

Consider for a minute that we made an approach to Angus Brayshaw this year though, do you think there might be a chance he had a quiet word with Luke? How do you reckon that convo would have gone? That’s the risk you run when you have players leave on such bad terms.

A chippy?

Fk I hope he can hit a nail straighter than he can kick

All the BS re what Ratts supposedly said came from a journo who now cant get a job as a journo.

Says it all really.

Boys, a troll is some one who doesn't have much of a life. They feel that s**t inside, it brings them joy to go online and work people up. If i wanted to "troll" you, I would keep it going once you responded to my comment.

You’re very welcome here UU.

Whether your intel is legit or not, it sure beats the Dunstan-Petracca-Pelican-Trout-Allison-McCartin merry-go-round.

No, it came from Luke as well.

Again, I’m not saying Luke’s version of events or his level of vitriol and anger was justified but ultimately it doesn’t reflect well on the club.

He’s gone and I doubt anyone cares he’s gone but it’s pretty odd to just assume Ratts sugar coated version is any more honest than Dunstans scorched earth version.

It's not a nitpick at all, it's just stating the facts.

Wilkie is 191cm and is mostly used as our 2nd tall, playing on the oppositions best key forwards along with Howard.

I have no reason to discuss those other defenders as I'm talking about whether another tall key defender would be useful for St Kilda, not the other 17 AFL clubs.

I reckon we'll be looking at one again in the draft like we were last year with Gibcus.

No, most AFL players have a fair FIGJAM factor

Have waded through pages and pages of hysteria that NWM may be leaving to go back home to Adelaide. The basis of this seems to be because he hasn't signed a contract extension yet, even though he has a year still to run on his initial contract.

Possibly a different perspective might be, that he has a switched on manager, who has seen that he has had an excellent first season and that he shows huge upside. He has told NWM to back himself him and improve further next year and he will benefit by an even larger contract for years 3 onwards. This is a plausible explanation, so Chicken Littles, the sky may not be falling yet.

People are genuinely suggesting we need to trade for another key defender while we have Doogs, Battle and Wilkie like it’s a weakness and this is considering that this is Battles first year playing as a full time defender and he’s 23.

Like… of all the things we need that ain’t it. You wanna draft another key defender sure, but after the year Battle had and playing 3 games as the genuine number 1 or 2 key defender and others as the number 2 tall (Wilkie often just takes the most dangerous forward not the other tall) it’s just a bizarre line to me.

Say we get McKay from north what do we do with Battle? You want him to play at Sandy after the year he’s had.
