Collingwood looking to bring in Hill, McStay, Frampton, and someone else.

Same as Saints after 2020.

Over estimate their list (which has got to the finals based on a new game plan) try to trade in to go all in for a flag.

Watch teams put more energy into them next year and see them fall out of the 8 and Steele/pendles retire, Grundy gone, it could come crumbling down quickly.

Look forward to seeing it

The difference being that Saints 2020 season was an aberration of success amidst many seasons of failure throughout the last decade.

Whereas, Collingwood’s 2021 season was an aberration of failure amidst many seasons of success (grand finals, prelims, made finals every year for a while except 2021, now in a prelim). PLUS they got the best kid in the draft as a father son when they did bottom out (imagine if they kept their FRDP 🤯).

I too hope that they come crumbling down in much the same way I thought Essendon would this year… but doesn’t seem likely.

Add him to the growing recent list of players who do nothing on our list only to forge a much better career at other clubs afterwards.

Tom Hickey
Blake Acres
now Ben Long

and I don't think it will stop there either.

I have gone on about him enough but I will reiterate - I saw him as a future leader at the club, loved his work up front, less so down back but his tackling game was a joy to watch. One of the few players who offer genuine toughness and could fly the flag better than most.

The club didn't exploit his value as a player, didn't see his value as a leader and had rocks in their head letting his contract run down. He'll go and we'll get nothing for him then watch him and Gold Coast suppass us without even one moment of reflection.

Infuriating.

Jack Billings will have a better year than Jordan DeGoey in 2023, discuss.

Given our list has for many many many years now wilted en masse almost every single time we have had the weight of expectation or a lot riding on an outcome.....

i think we are the last place in the footballing universe where a guy with massive confidence and mental demons could 'make it click'.

I for one am sick of going into important and/or 'must win' games knowing that half our team are practically guaranteed to play like timid little mice when the blowtorch is applied.

He could have beer flavoured nipples and kick the ball like plugger and I still would say no way- not even for free.

We're trying to win a flag- building a mentally tougher list is a key ingredient we are missing.
Haha Jesus wept this is the afl not the ufc and I doubt he has half the problems of guys you’d admire, nobody who plays afl is scared. He needs a different routine and probably a sports psychologist, you’re not trading max king and he looks like he wants to be somewhere else and needs a change of underware kicking for goal.

He has the skills and size to make him a very good cheap pick up, he can join the other half of his new teammates who need some help in that confidence area.

I'm very confident we will get a second round pick for Long. Gold Coast have a host of picks and will want to get the deal done. Hopefully ends up a win-win.

Yes way better than if he chose North where I presume the PSD could have been a problem given he is OOC.

No not right - Acres had a mediocre year in his last with the Saints then followed it up with another couple of very mediocre years for Freo.

All he's done this year is get back to his GOP best. Was not missed at all by the Saints.

Long is depth - always was, always will be. 78 games over 6 years and the first time he breaks 20 possessions is in his last game.

Will not be missed.

Hickey - a lifetime ago.

They say we want to get into the draft. Hence why we are okay letting Long Clark and Hill go.

Linked us to Soldo and Meek

Nobody asked me.
I am not ok with letting Clark go! :( :p

The thing I hate about this is that Long, Clark and Hill are all guys we spent pretty high picks to get in the first place and two of them are still on the up. Just doesn't seem like we get value out of letting them go at all.
