Considering they had such a poor 2016 that ended with a 100+ point belting.

Hardwick was in the verge of the sack, it’s irrelevant how they made 3 finals series before that and from memory I think they lost all 3. Lost to North, Pumped by the power, choked against Carlton.

They then made the following list management decisions- which at the time had people laughing at them.

1. Awarded Round 2 compensation selection (27) for losing restricted free agent Tyrone Vickery

2. Traded Pick 6 and future Round 1 selection to Gold Coast for Dion Prestia and Pick 24

3. Traded Pick 46 to Sydney for Toby Nankervis

4. Traded Picks 24 and 64 to Geelong for Josh Caddy and Pick 56

5. Traded Brett Deledio to GWS Giants for Geelong’s future first round selection and GWS’ future third round selection.

If you still can’t see, how they were a club at the cross roads then I can’t help you
I can see what youre saying but i think youre a little into the "crossroads" thing.

Dimma absolutely went within a hairs breath of getting sacked and him sticking around and winning 3 flags is the stuff of folkore. If it ends up the same with Ratts then fantastic well all be thrilled but there isnt much right no to think thats what will happen

If Clark and Hill stay, I reckon we'll take Longs pick to the Draft and that could well be it for us unless someone is genuinely keen on Bytel. If someone offers over great otherwise we give him a performance-based 2 year deal. We'd be mad to delist him.
I think this is probably it TBH.

This Hawthorn racism scandal will make alot of players who were going to movie hesitant which means other players dont get deals done etc etc.

I was more referring the need to make decisions on players on players who will get us there.

Push harder on De Goey.

Trade out good players to improve us etc.

These journos are all over the ****ing joint. Said interest in Bowes, then no interest, now interest again. Said 850k, then no deal we won't take the salary, now 500k.

Ralphy throwing as much shit around in the hope anything sticks, having an absolute mare. Reckon he's actually got NFI and a few on here would have more of an idea.

I cant imagine Jack Bowes being on $850k a year, that always felt off TBH.

Of course pick 7 is the jewel. But the comments re Bowes as a player are ridiculous he is recovering from injury and played a lot of games in the VFL ahhh a Bytel equivalent is how he should be considered.

He will not get a game at Geelong with Henry and Bruhn coming in and be kicking dew off Kardinia Park for some time.
Which is funny because right now, it's Dew that is kicking him off the park...
So why would he come to Geelong to get paid more than their Brownlow medallists the ridicule and uncomfortableness would be palpable especially if he doesn't perform.....someone needs to explain that to him.

Saints or an equivalent is a better fit even Ess or Haw as the expectations will be less as we are all trying to build to a flag tilt in a couple of years and there is a spot in the firsts that he could compete for and Pick 7 assists with the said flag tilt.

Good luck to him and hope he chooses wisely.

We have a front row seat in this process thanks to Ben Long.

Cannot imagine any player choosing a team he wants to go to when he is playing in the twos and a club taking him too seriously.

Irrespective of pick 7 he should choose a team where he gets the best chance at playing in the ones not because of lifestyle and he likes the jumper colours.

Maybe he is happy to get paid mad bucks to sit around in the countryside training and hanging out in an elite team, who knows maybe playing now and again, rather than rolling up his sleeves every week for a bunch of shit kickers in some boring suburb?

Pies board saying De Goey has signed with them. Hill staying, Hunter staying. Great.

Sooo... Anything interesting we can talk about?
still I’m glad we got involved.

we forced collingwoods hand in offering more than they wanted to. That’s bitten them quite a bit in the last few years, long may that continue.

They added pieces including lynch but you’ve left out that they finally drafted very well over a five year period that gave them the base to build on. It all really started around 2006, if you hit in the draft with genuine A graders it‘s mighty helpful.

Interesting if they've just folded on the behaviour clauses.

He has proven he can play at the level reasonably well. He'll be champing at the bit for an opportunity now. Just needs a consistent run at it.
Sounds just like Bytel.

It really cannot be 7 + Bowes for GC getting nothing back. Surely they just mean 7 can be involved?
e.g. if we offer

pick 9 + 55 + Long for
7+22+ Bowes

So we upgrade 9 to 7 and get an early second round pick for Long..

Would people go for that? I personally think it is still a good deal.

Not with Bowes salary choking us for a couple of years.
