If I was DeGoey I’d be absolutely filthy that I’d been hung out for doing what I know half the list does. So the thought he’s being singled out is in fact correct, would anybody gladly wear that?.

On Salary Cap.
We have space for DeGoey or Bowes salary dump...not both.

Plan 1
Unless we get rid of Hill which sounds less likely.

Plan 2
Trade out and sacrifice surplus salary with Hunter Clark.

Hunter Clark talk only happened when DeGoey delayed signing and this is the contingency. As well as discussing with GCS the Long deal and they let it drop about the salary dump possibility.

If we lose Clark over Hill I will be pissed off but getting pick 7 DeGoey Bowes and probably a frdp for Clark and Long eases the pain a bit.

Reckon WCE would be mad not to outbid us on the Bowes deal and start their rebuild with a bang. Only issue is if Bowes doesn't want to go there. Having Long in the picture also gives us a box seat.

Bit to play out.

All teams with cap space Ess Haw North have massive caveats around going there and makes negotiations with them almost impossible. We are the only ones left.

Giddyup Boyo.

WC have to convince him to go there, vic kid hasn’t worked out on the GC so I’m thinking good luck getting him to WA when he will have home state choices.

I would've stuck with Bruce for another two years personally whilst King came on, but that's just me...and that's based on his ability, not his attitude which seems to have been a point of contention within the club.
Yeah, Steven was shot...we probably should've gotten rid of him when he wanted to go the year before.
Year before was apparently a first round pick from Geelong.
And If my memory serves me correctly Collingwood were offering the same for Bruce

So what happened to the NWM rumours of wanting out
Still wants out but the Adelaide clubs haven't the capital to trade.

All this so and is best mates with so and so is so much rubbish about playing careers.
Apparently Ben King is besties with Max and a huge Saints fan, how did that work for us?

We can't pay picks, we have to walk if Collingwood match. If we trade away the future to chase DeGoey we really are just bluffing list management. There seems to be non actual plan in what they are trying to put together. We have a toe in the top up pool, a finger in the rebuild bucket and using our left hand to slash the list. If we step straight into paying picks for DeGoey we are screwed.

We are where we are because we have mortgaged the future to chase players like Hill who cost a lot of draft capital. There is a good chance JDG has a lot less impact in a lesser side with no crowds to feed him as well. There is a very good chance we pay out his contract that he never sees through on top of that. His history isn't one that suggests that he'll make it to 5 years.
First part correct, has to be like Crouch, FA or if they match he stays or requests a trade from someone else.

Second part is the usual crap. I pick 6 a couple of crap picks, Acres and Bruce were our future?
You must be having a larf.

You would need to move hill to make Bowes work.

No chance we can add 1.5m+ of salary in 2 players and Keep Hill + add the other 4-5 players we need to make the list numbers.

Has the Clarkson stuff ruined Hill’s potential move?

If we can fit Bowes’ salary then we’d be silly not to make that part of the Long deal. Bowes is a solid footballer who could still turn into a good one. Pick 7 is very good icing on the cake.

But surely we need Hill gone to be able to take Bowes and maybe even De Goey. Plus the ruck we’re looking for.

Jordy must really be planning on doing a LOT of partying in the next 5 years if behaviour clauses alone are enough to make him give up playing for the biggest sporting club in the country who just made a prelim.... to instead play for us.

So long as we keep the cash and years reasonable I'm still ok with us taking the risk.... but sheesh, if he does leave the pies over that... the guy is clearly a party fiend and has no intention of changing

I think there are intangibles that may be influencing his decision making process. Collingwood have withdrawn a previous offer and there is clearly a history of interaction between players and officials that he is considering.

It has been reported that Saints officials have been chatting with him for a long time, including the dark times during the middle of the year. And it would appear their interest hasn’t waned. He may have formed relationships and bonds that we don’t know about.

I would assume (without any knowledge) that De Goey is impressed by that and may have even resolved in his own mind that playing with St Kilda is a great thing for him personally and for his football.

Maybe Collingwood upping the ante is firming his resolve to leave rather than to stay. The opposite to what would expect. At the end of the day we all need to be wanted and have faith put in us. And St Kilda have been there all year.

Maybe I’m wrong. But these sorts of things often get missed by the media who focus on money and contract conditions.

2019 draft -Byrnes, Connolly
2020 draft -Allison, Highmore

We pretty much sat out of 2 drafts to bring in a bunch of GOPs who we would replace tomorrow. If you want to believe that that's good management you are part of the cult of deifying imposters that St Kilda fans seem to be part of. We are paying for the neglect of the draft for more than a decade. King is our only real hit in years of drafting.

Just looking at the rumours , there said to be a bit of tension between him and a few of the leadership group - Pendles etc so it will be good to see what happens , but the way our recruiters work I really believe the deal could already be done , just like Crouch a few years before.
Amazing having a coach that is not overbearing can do , it actually is very atractive to players wanting to play football without all the hype associated to teams like the Pies and Tigers.
I cant believe i just read what you wrote , so players don't like big games and would prefer to come to a club with no expectations , OMG
