Isaac Chugg tested very well at the TIS. One of the reasons he got drafted was his athletic ability. He was a national level sprinter.
Back end of the draft, he drafted for need. Front end he went best available according to his criteria - medium paced flankers with a bit to like, but are a worry in terms of AFL role- Poulter, Macrae (who were now trying to turn into an inside mid as he doesn't run well enough for flanks) Henry. All talented, but athleticism is not ideal for likely role. Hines old criteria didn't change with the game. This year's crop have the right athletic attributes.

It’s the 2nd and 3rd efforts that have really been the problem today
Poulter puts pressure on in a tackle, ball flipped out in hope - there’s a number of GES players there and none of ours to keep the pressure on
Has happened quite a number of times

If the club wanted to make a stance, we could clear out the older VFL players who are AFL listed and recruit younger stars from the state league. We'll probably need two defenders at the end of the year (Murphy and Roughie), a key forward and plenty more.

There really aren’t many older players in the team.

Coaches need to sit Henry down and tell him he’s not a superstar, focus on doing the basics right and stop trying to be a hero every time the balls near him. Looks a long way off currently

He has 0 support in this game. He’s not a key forward. He’s had a poor day, but delivery and no support have made it far worse

He's dropped like 8 marks today. Wouldn't call that trying to be a hero. Hasn't been his day.

I actually don't get the hate for Henry.

I agree with the ball watching. But that can be fixed.

I think McMahon looks like he has a future. He has pretty good skills.

Yup not sure it is as a defender though, looks lost down there for the most part but then again it's why they call it the development league. But definitely no natural at the role.

Should let him hone his fwd craft.

That was poor by the umpire
GWS guy up too early, doesn’t touch ball, play on
GWS goal

Well to be fair on the umps our 3 goals were in direct relation to free kicks or penalties.

We improved the effort of course and you make your own luck playing in front but it's always a worrying sign that the only way you can score goals is through umpires assistance.

It’s the trying to take screamers from behind instead of just doing the percentage play and leading to space, or trying to dance around 3 opponents and snap a miracle goal instead of giving the hand pass. He plays like Stevie J but needs to play more like Elliot

yeah I think he is a forward as well, and given he has had a few touched down back, they should have thrown him forward for the 2nd half at least.
I don't understand why the VFL team didn't recruit a key backman.
