For pick 7? I think the F1 is too much to only move up a few spots.

This is where Reid earns his money. He needs to accurately pick where we will finish in 2024.

Could look really stupid if we give away a top pick to move up a few spots. There are good players every year so even with Welsh it means we miss on someone next year like a local midfielder.
I think Curtin is a star and he certainly has midfield potential..did well against SA in the national champs as a mid. If it costs top wack pay it. We could always trade 14 into next year for a F1 and maybe a late pick this year

The biggest plus I’ve seen with Curtin that is different to nearly all recent WA talents is he’s NOT with the Colin Young stable, he’s under totally different management to that parasite. So hopefully it’s a sign of things to come as the WA market might open up again for the club with players having no involvement with that bastard.

We’d only do a trade with GWS if Curtin’s still on the board right? Is he sliding so much because he’s a flight risk? What are we offering GWS that they like more than what WC is, pick 10 for Leake?

Insane hypothetical time… if we somehow successfully trade for pick 7 ahead of WC and Curtin is still there, I wonder if we’d then consider trading that onto WC for their F1 in a midfield heavy draft… obviously all the risk lies with us though re: future ladder positions and where Welsh is bid on

Perhaps to minimise that risk, we take Curtin, and if he really is a flight risk, we trade him to WC for their F1 next year when we have a more certain idea of where Welsh and Draper will go

If it all somehow went to plan like that, all three clubs win

We get an elite mid before the Welsh bid
WC get their elite WA tall
GWS get Leake and bonus picks

Rachele and Pedlar were both top ten picks.
Your point?

Rach isnt a pure midfielder.

Pedlar isnt either but is closer to one than rach.. we’re all praying both can become something close to pure mids.. but thats yet to be seen.

and since when has the number 11 been between 1 and 10?.. we took TT with our best pick that year.

I've been called an idiot for saying the same s**t. They somehiw think darcy wilson is only average.

Only mock drafts I know but both Twomey and Fox have Wilson dropping down the list a bit. Week or two ago all the list seem to suggest he would be 10-14. Now it’s 15-18.

Not sure if that’s just because others have risen or he has a knock on him that’s now being whispered about

Twomey says that our overtures for pick 7 have been rejected, yet Hamish said yesterday that he received a call out of the blue yesterday from someone. Still to play out, I think.
If we received a call, I'd guess it's from either Geelong or Sydney.

Geelong have been looking to trade down to get an extra pick in for ages, and I think I read very recently that Sydney may be interested in trading down.

The scary part is.. is the club we follow, which has proven at the draft table many times in recent years that its full of dumb****s, probably will pick a KPD with their first pick… and will go even further if they have to and trade everything bar the kitchen sink to get up the draft to get one.

what I find impressive is the “o’sullivan and curtin are dominant and could even play midfield” calls being used by some around here to justify this.

we are talking about two 198cm lads that are over 90kg’s in weight.. no fxxkn wonder they have dominated their peers!..

and do they honestly believe a couple of games here and there in their school and academy football careers where they played a bit of midfield instantly means they could be AFL midfielders?… seriously?

an o’sullivan or a curtin, if drafted by the crows, will spend the next two fuxkn years playing SANFL footy “getting ready”.. its the crows way when it comes to KPD’s.

The club has a well know history and form on this.. but goldfish have better memories than some around here.

we need pure mids and a small forward to help unleash pedlar, rankine and rach into greater midfield minutes… and also get rid of that utter fukn hack in Murphy.

Was Laird drafted as a pure mid? Definitely not. He's gone alright.
Was Brad Crouch drafted as a pure mid with a high draft pick. Definitely. Whose had the best midfield career out of him and Laird?
Doubt Dawson was drafted as a pure mid. It was hoped he could go into mid but no one had it as a given, nor that he would dominate once there.
Sloane. He went alright at his peak. Was he drafted as a pure mid. If he was, it wasn't with an early pick.

So if Clarko really is infatuated with Curtin, we know Clarko gets his way. Would throw the draft into chaos and suddenly guys like Mckercher and Watson come into play for us given our willingness to get higher. One of the most intriguing drafts in years, shaped by one player.

reading Twomey’s comment on our first selection, he doesn’t seem too confident

it reads a bit guess work to me

I still don't quite get the rationale to trade up 2 or 3 spots... All the pure mids we would like will all be gone in the top 6.

All this talk of Leake is interesting too when we got Michelanney last year...
