I've been called an idiot for saying the same s**t. They somehiw think darcy wilson is only average.
Darcy Wilson is a gun , anyone that’s watched U18s this year in here really likes him

Pedlar Rachele and even Curtin in this years draft have spent much more time playing centre square midfield than Darcy Wilson though coming though U16-U18

He’s a wing / flanker , even a Ollie Hollands who looks like a pure wing at AFL level spent much more time playing inside midfield than Darcy Wilson

Realistically Wilson will play wing and high half forward at AFL level for the foreseeable future and Charlie Edwards is a bit the same IMO

So they’re not really centre square midfielders either , you can’t just pluck inside mids at pick 10 and 14 if their talent isn’t good enough to be there , you’ll end up with the midfield version of Mcasey because you reached

I’m definitely ok with drafting one really quality outside guy though and hope it’s Wilson

We have lacked real outside run so it will be a real benefit to bring in a kid who could be A grade off a wing. Rankine in my eyes has to get into the midfield and he could absolutely be class as an outside mid too

West Coast will absolutely do what they need to do to take Curtin. There's no way they will let him go interstate.

Anyone thinks we are getting Curtin is dreaming. Even if WC dont trade picks for him, as if GWS or Geelong would be happy to slide back and let another team take him :drunk:
That would be red wig guy riding the red horse

CURTIN WILL BE A Crows player by Monday night.

Agree , Wilson would really help us there

Rankine Rachele Soligo and Pedlar keep increasing mid minutes is key for us …… Dowling in the mix medium term , Taylor and Berry will be interesting next season in terms of their development

Some of these kids people want us to draft are less likely to be centre square mids than a Pedlar or Rachele IMO

That rumor thrown up a page ago from the eagles board was intersting (although i thought melbourne were desperate to get UP the order not back down?)

However if say windsor was their guy, then maybe they might trade back to 10 if they thought he was still likely to be there and gain our f1 in the process.

Then if WCE wanted 6 from us we take their f1 which is the hopeful ace next year to get say draper.

Leaves us with some picks this year to still bring in some talent

Edit..iwonder if that call haggis got the other day might have been from melbourne?

This just seems like a trade week radio style fantasy scenario. Which in reality thats all it is. I'm doubting anything will change with the top 10 come draft day.

This chatter happens all the time before draft day, it’s just the AFL media’s opportunity to stay relevant before they scoot off for their Xmas Holudays.

In reality, trading of first round picks on the night is rare and certainly not in the top 10. Perhaps one last year and one the year before?

Would have to be on the table re possibilities of getting up next years draft where there are more potential elite mids than you can poke a stick at

Be good to also be able to grab a Wilson and Goad as well but it might be more edwards / goad

Are we really going to go with another KPD...?

We are talking about a club who thought/thinks a midfield of sloane, laird, keays and crouch was, in the coaches very own words mind you, “STACKED”.. yep, that experienced and stacked midfield that led us to a spoon and two bottom 5 finishes… STACKED!

all four of these lads are still there and still seen as best 22 by these morons… and ready to be called upon when needed in the middle.

we also, luckily, have Dawson, rachele, pedlar and Rankine. Dawson has proven he’s probably our best midfielder now.. and we’re all hoping rachele, rankine and pedlar show they will be up there as some of our best mids next year..

it would not surprise me in the least if this club is thinking KPD, KPD and Ruck with its three top picks this year and even considering bringing in an F1 to help achieve that... and that we have no real midfield needs at all.

What surprises me is that some of the goldfish around here think the club wouldnt be thinking like this!..

have they not been paying attention for the past 5 or so years?

I enjoy the meltdowns post draft day, its what Bigfooty is all about.

I have said it before and I will say it again, when the draft is redone for the Top 10 players in 12 months time, the order almost always is different.
I can see the “Pick 10. Welcome to Adelaide - Patrick Dangerfield“ thread being bumped when I read this. All time classic

I’m talking KPD’s not mids or forwards.

and I’m talking in more recent times (last 5-8 years).. davis and hartigan were a long time ago

Butts played two games due to injury.

keane and murray werent draftees they were mature aged rookies. Murray came in as a sup after being overlooked in two drafts and keane had already played for collingwood.

doedee spent two years in the sanfl.

mcasey only played because of injuries to our defense stocks and, given how s**t he went, its probably only made us more gun shy.

Doedee happened to be behind Lever though as a third tall and had his share of injuries

Pretty much all of the KPDs I listed have been in Hamish’s time.
At the end of the day the “two years in Sanfl” for KPD’s doesn’t stack up. At all

You know whats really funny about this question..

when the suns jumped straight in and did that deal for pick 4 I stated on here that it looks like a stupid move and that they should've waited, why rush in.. they might get a better offer

i said the crows would probably have even better to offer than the bulldogs in the wash up.

and this is exactly whats happened.

then half the commentors in here jumped all over me for even suggesting that we could possibly give up as much as the dogs did for pick 4..

yet here we are.. it looks like we are all in to get pick 6 or 7 offering up a shitload of draft capital from this year and next year.. and it seems so e of the same commentators who jumped all over me are now all in with it!

Maybe we shouldve been all in for pick 4..

It’s a good point - although it does feel like the current trade talk is the typical media campaign to create interest in the draft from Cal
Curtin has been raved about all year - and yet now every team in the top ten seems to either be happy to overlook him or trade out for other draft capital. So either the go home factor has become a big cloud over him or some clubs see big knocks on how he translates to AFL level

Have we ever had 3 first rounders in recent decades? Clearly they are mid-late but still it’s exciting esp with the options to trade to better quality. Not sure the Crows get pick 6 and 7 scenario is even remotely possible. Unless we get Weagles F1 I wouldn’t be trading our F1 to trade up either.

10 and 14 for pick 7 if Curtin is there. Yep would do that if an option. Then deally Goad at 20 and a slider (mid/Moir) at 30-40

we will need to take a KPP at one of our picks. as a previous poster pointed out looking at first / second rounders and trades the last 4-5 years includes :

Pedlar
Rachele
Shoey
Berry
Soligo
Dawson
Rankine / Cook - at least part time mids
Jones, Mc Henry and Sholl in 2018 also
plus attempted huge offer at Day

Pedlar, Dawson and Rachele form the basis of our mids for the rest of this decade. Still need to add at least one more elite quality (like a Day or McCluggage which is very unlikely to happen) - we all recognise that.

But it’s ridiculous the posters saying we haven’t drafted mids in recent years. It’s more we haven’t drafted talls with only number 6 in 2019 and Worrell.

Didn’t we have 3 first rounders in the 2018 Super draft? Took Chayce, McHenry and traded the other for Carlton’s F1?

I apologise in advance to all for the reminder

It already happened post trade day this year...down the road when they realised they sold themselves out of this years draft and the top end of next years and lost a 1st round picked duursma for a group of journeymen (granted who structurally will help)...all the while why they watch us add either 3 x 1st round players in or if we trade up maybe a very good kid and another 1st round and later kid
Agree overall but their trade for JHF last year was exceptional. He could be a top 5 player in the comp the next decade and they only gave up like picks 8 and 14 (or similar).
