Has this happened yet?
Not that I know of, but the VFL will probably quietly announce it at the same time as Putin nukes Ukraine, just so no one notices ......

.... notices the Norf/Clarko rort that is!

I'm fuming about the Norf begging bowl act. If you look at their list, they already have a shed of talent and just want to stock up with more high end freebies, at every other re-builders expense, so Clarko can look like a miracle worker as they rapidly rise up the table. Some of their recruiting has been bizarre, Phillips over McDonald, taking Brayden George with an ACL etc. Those draft moves will assist you in staying in PP territory in 2023.

West Coast won the Spoon, not Norf!

Absolutely right, this is the bit that pisses me right off.

To WC's credit, they haven't sooked and whinged to the AFL for PP's or getting extra WA kids etc.

Norf have made it an art form last few years begging Gill for extra help to cover up their own incompetence.

Gulden was only going to the Swans so it was just a question of who was going to do it. We normally bid, but it can't always be us.
and given covid our recruiters focussed on local boys that year. we all know that or have we forgotten? but yes he was always going to sydney

The whole AFL competition is ridiculous, it’s just a glorified VFL and the rest of the teams are just the suckers who try to play along.

The level of bias, manipulation, inconsistencies, rorts and unequal playing field makes it the worst sporting competition in the world.
Agree

The worst thing is, it has infiltrated and ruined competitions such as the SANFL as well.

What it does say is that a few of the Eastern state clubs have a massive drafting advantage with their Academies. The Swans could wait until and not worry as they could bid on their player with a deduction in points.

They actually didn’t have a hell of a lot of points if gulden was bid on early

Maybe they knew that wasn’t going to happen but they might have been caught napping if we traded up and did it

They had Braeden Campbell taken early

Bloody academy. What a massive leg up that is.

“A joint initiative between the AFL, AFL Affiliates and the four Northern AFL Clubs (GWS Giants, Sydney, Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast Suns)”

3 of them in the finals, one is pretty much favourite for the flag.

Does someone who knows have a list of what each club has received through ALL of the academies / FS / priority picks etc… by club / year?

Would love to know what it has added up to the years … games played might be an interesting side measure.
Nope

Bit of hearsay for you, but I'm friends with Darcy Wilson's cousin. (I know, I know )
Got the cousin to do a bit of digging for me. Out of the interstate clubs, its been us and WCE who have spoken to him most, with the majority of Vic Clubs.
My mate indicated that Darcy is a bit reluctant to leave Vic, but I'm sure that it would be most Vic kids' preference to stay at home too.

I've seen us linked to Nate Caddy twice now (phantom draft stuff from punters) - but surely as a medium forward, similar to Welsh by the looks, he's not a requirement.

Depends if he has the potential to move through the midfield in the years to come, which he probably does - but only potential at this stage.
