Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

So if this Luke Jackson thing up forward doesn’t work,
we move Darcy to the Saints for pick 6,
Trade that 6 to the Swans for McDonald.
Move Jackson into full time ruck,
And then we have the two best young key forwards to look forward to hitting up for the next decade?
Mcdonald is not actually very good. That’s the only problem.
Dropped for the GF. Looks lethargic whenever I see him play and not a dominant KPF. There’s no explosiveness in his play like Amiss has shown already, for example.
I feel like top line AFL defenders will shut down Logan McDonald fairly comfortably in years to come.
I reckon his ceiling is probably a run of the mill second or third tall, kicking maybe 30-40 goals a season at times and probably not till he’s 26 or 27. He’s not going to be a multi year AA in my opinion and I wouldn’t be swapping Sean Darcy for him at all. No way Jose. That deal stinks 🤮

Mcdonald reminds me of Porkins early on

He is gonna be a very good player IMO

He reminds me of Polak for some reason. Dominant as a teenager but just doesn’t seem to have the drive.

I’ll be interested to see his development next season. That will tell a lot. These KPF need time to see if he can bring his colts age domination to a man’s league.

Logan McDonald had shin issues going into last season and it's a running game. So he will look lesser if he hasn't the running power trained in, then build and then fade as the season grinds him down and that's exactly what happened last year.

That's why I wanted to poach him from them last season, I'm expecting his output to be far too solid over the next two years for that trade not to cost too much now.

I think when Sydney accept he isn't going to be a running forward and start working a forwardline around him like porkins, he is gonna explode

What’s with people trying to move on bnf winners?(also threads and comments of trading Fyfe WTF)
We are a real club with real supporters.
I know many anchors have always had a desire for the enigmatic.
The wizard, Clive, Modra, the hulk, Dardy but surely Mundy taught many to appreciate the heart and soul of the club more.
I was happy to see the back of everyone that left this year.
LRyan and Swaggy O stuck fat during their first 5 years with no finals and massive coaching changes.
Not only that they embraced the club and rose above to win BnFs in tough years.
As fans we need to all project positive energy and belief.
If we all truely believe it will happen!

McDonald will be an interesting watch for sure. He’s kicked a few bags already I think? But then had games of <5 possessions.

With forward rotations involving Jager, Fyfe, Jackson and Darcy( I would love the coaches to include serong may not have the size but has the skill craft of dusty/petracca) I think forward line will be fine!
Logue lobb Mundy out- Fyfe Jackson Omeara Graberner in.
Freddy’s speed Son Son in the clutch Amiss from 50 and switta and shooters ticker.

**** that. If Jackson doesn't work up front, play big Onions there. He had a bit of a mare with his mitts back half of last year, but when he does clunk them he's one of the best set-shots in the game.

If Logan McDonald is already being written off I fear for poor Jye the next three or four seasons
Dont think anyone is writing him off. But is he worth trading out of two consecutive drafts for like we have done with Luke Jackson? Or worth swapping Sean Darcy for?
Definitely not, based on what we have seen so far.
Don’t get me wrong - I think he’ll be a very decent player. Probably play 200 games and kick plenty of goals over the journey.
Something along the lines of Dan McStay or Charlie Dixon would be my prediction. A very good, solid, consistent AFL player. Might even jag an AA over the journey.

However if I’m Freo and trading out of two more drafts for a KPF, I want to be getting proven elite talent. No ifs, buts or maybes.

Lol ,why would you be trading 2 drafts unless he’s shown he’s a gun

Your not paying that on what he’s shown so far , swans would be lucky to get what they paid back

I thought he moved a bit like Jk, bulky frame that just needs time to fill out properly. Not an explosive type, just good hands with a neat kick, and leads at the ball.
Or could just be another Shac or Wieds

I guarantee you he would cost the same price luke jackson did.
100%. No way Sydney are letting him go for peanuts.

He’s probably the best KPF his age in the league if not second or third.

Some people seem to think if KPFs aren’t the next Pavlich in their first two seasons they’re spuds and others think first or second year talls can’t contribute at all. The reality is somewhere in between for the best young KPFs. McDonald is one of those imo.

Well, it's not exactly the biggest pond to be a fish in and arguably waaay to early for any decent calls on a KPF (which probably is the key point).

Still he's got Ugle-Hagan in front of him at this stage. Thilthorpe would be on a par possibly. Also depends how you view Georgiades at 191cm in KPF stakes, but is in front in goals per game. And whether you would group the King twins there, but over time they will be seen in the same generation no doubt.

I think McDonald has been underwhelming so far but I also think things such as playing in a forwardline with Buddy as a young KPF and Sydney's poor selection policy around him hasnt helped. By the time he's out of contract though, we'll have a much better idea of whether he's going to make it or not. I do really feel we are one Hawkins type key forward from having a complete list. Hopefully we can get Naughton or McDonald in a couple of years

He isn’t being written off. He has underwhelmed but he will take time and as Taylor alluded to had some injury issues.

I really can’t see us being a player to trade for him. We paid massive draft capital price to get Jackson. We will look at topping up with lower cost trades and free agency. Trades like second round picks (JOM, Wilson, Hamling, BHill, Aish, Lobb, Clark we’re all trades at the cost price of second round pick), the odd FA but otherwise continue at the draft picking up young takent with early picks and Mature age with later picks.

Personally if we are a chance of landing McDonald it will be because he has headed the Polak route instead of the Hawkins/Reiwoldt route. We can dream I guess. Naughton as free agent would be nice but he out of contract at end of 2024 which is only 7 years, so isn’t a FA unfortunately.

We'd have to trade for either, dont see that being an issue in two years. It should be the final piece we need and drafting a KPF that's a) any good b) meeting the timeline of this group is probably not going to happen.
