Exactly.

So many were bagging him not that long ago as not being best 22. Everyone is onto him now though.
I guess it was because of a couple of brain farts last year. I think we want all our players to be good enough to be best 22.

Good on Owies for sticking up the doubters and I hope his form continues.

Perineal injured players like Martin and Cunners would also make a big difference forward but there’s a better chance I see a unicorn first than them two on the park together!

I wonder what’s going on with TDK.
What he potentially offers is critical.
Silvagni can’t convert goals and is horrendous in the ruck.

If Ed appears on the team sheet again, some crazy notions might not be that crazy …

TDK and Boyd for Silvagni and Ed.
Kemp back with Cincotta making way.

McGovern gives a marking and kicking option across half forward.

In : TDK Boyd Kemp
Out : Silvagni Ed Cincotta

Boyd Young Kemp
Saad Weitering Docherty
Hollands Cripps Cottrell
McGovern Curnow Durdin
Owies McKay Motlop

Pittonet Cerra Walsh

Newman TDK Kennedy Hewett

SUB : Acres

* Acres on notice, his disposal kills us.
Perhaps Binns if/when ready or one day, Cuningham/Martin may even grace us with their presence.

* Dow deserves a chance, probably for Hewett but it’s patently clear Voss has marked his card permanently and that’s another story …

Our team needs a group trauma session. Its obvious they are desperate to do well. Its just that desperation is tilting on obsession and anxiety.

Maybe a group camp this week or something?

These guys come highly recommended.

Still don't believe this is player based, but what I don't want to see this week...

Cerra or Kennedy at HB. Could cope Hewett playing there if it's to neutralise a dangerous opponent as long as it's a viable matchup in terms of pace

Jsos in the ruck, offering nothing in hitouts and minimal impact when ball hits the ground. Actually offering little in scoreboard impact, so I would rather bring in Martin or throw Gov forward

Small forwards not coming up at the ball, just way too easy to play against

What I would like to see....

Cotts or my number 1 option, Doc to play on Daicos

Keep the ball in motion, even if it's with safe, chip kicks

Cotts on Daicos would make sense.

Of course theatre demands Silvagni plays on Daicos

Taking a step back and wondering what we can change and use what we have to the best of our ability

I’m not a fan of Gov…at all but if good McGovern is available I’d play him forward and drop JSOS

I’d wouldn’t bring kemp in for him this week
Match up wise Collingwood go small and if worst comes to worst Gov can swing back for 5-10

TKD comes in and takes a spot on the bench…rotates through the ruck and forward when needed….that’s easy…manage Harry more and play TKD and use them as hard running forwards providing options for our disastrous ball movement from kicks outs etc

Doc back to defence we need him there for his leadership especially this week against Collingwood smalls…Cincotta is a nice size and I think he could play taller if needed so he retains his spot…Cowan another option

Newman - Wieters- Cinc
Doc - Young - Saad

Pitto - Kennedy- Cerra
Hollands - Cripps - Acres

Walsh - Charlie - Gov
Owies - McKay - Durdin

TKD - Motts - Hewitt - Cotts

I would rather roll the dice a little more and bring in Boyd and Binns to play a little faster and more direct - I think Cinc and Cotts have shown that it’s possible to transfer VFL form to AFL form and Boyd and Binns have shown some form in the last month - maybe not amazing form but probably enough to suggest they can hold their spot if given a chance in our seniors

Think it's time to throw some things around

In TDK, Martin, Boyd
Out Jsos, Mots, Durdin

Shift Doc forward, swapping with Gov occasionally

Need better impact types forward. Done with Jsos in the ruck and his level of pressure also doesn't warrant a spot

Realistically, possibly Martin for either of Mots or Durdin
Absolutely no
Way JSOS gets dropped. The guy is one of the only players doing his job.

Focus for this week.....

  • all mids/forwards develop a set shot routine. One that must start with a couple of deep breaths to pump some oxygen into the lungs/brain. If you rush a set shot you get dragged and a talking to by Voss/Hansen.
  • practice connection between mids/fwds. fwds lead and mids kick to leads. If you bomb it in you get dragged/subbed. dropped to vfl following week and come back after you show some imrpovment.
  • Pitto/mids to tap to advantage and move the ball out with some sort of a plan. Cripps extract and hand pass out to runners.
  • defenders kicking the ball out from kick ins and d50 with some sort of a plan.

It's time to completely rethink the 22.

FB: Boyd, Weitering, Silvagni
HB: Docherty, McGovern, Saad
R: Pittonet, Cripps, Durdin
C: Hollands, Walsh, Cottrell
HF: Curnow, Cerra, Owies
FF: TDK, McKay, Motlop

Int: Newman, Kennedy, Binns, Hewett

OUT: Acres, Young, Cincotta
IN: Binns, Boyd, TDK

Silvagni into the backline to replace Young who is a liability. Boyd moves back in Cincotta's role. Docherty returns to the backline for consistency, Newman forms the seventh man. Durdin moves into the midfield to inject pace and a different dynamic onto our on-ball. Cottrell and Binns rotate wing and half forward with the aim of bring pressure and speed to the outside. Motlop and Owies play small inside 50. TDK comes back into the side to add a third target and relief ruck.

What is suspect will happen, Cincotta for Boyd.

I don't know if this was crazy, but if I was in charge of the football team i'd have a ritualistic private ceremony first thing Monday morning. Lights off in the change rooms, heads shaved. Kits burned. Every player would be 'dropped' for the game against Collingwood and made to earn their selection through training this week.

I’d also play TDK up forward along with Gov … move H to the wing far away from the responsibility of kicking goals … I’d also rotate cripps forward more get him away from the responsibility of the middle for a while …

All achievable with smart rotations

I am flying down to this and the Bombers game.

I do expect to enjoy some Lucy Liu and Royal Stacks.

I do not expect to enjoy the result. But I hope to be surprised!

Geez I hate the Pies. Like a lot

And come Thursday the changes would be

IN: LOB, Martin
OUT: ECurnow, Kennedy

What’s the point.

Just need to get the playing group dancing around a massive bonfire which we started to burn a training dummy that represents all their sins too.

No, he actually isnt

As you know I’ve been very critical of Jacks lack of output but I thought he gave us something last night. He held his marks and in the ruck which I usually hate he had an impact. The only blotch was his goalkicking which admittedly is a big issue. I was more disappointed with Saad, Cripps, McKay, Young and Weitering. I’m not sure there is much we can do about those guys other than hope they turn a corner.

I’m in favour of swinging Gov forward and giving JSOS a spell.

Pitto rucks with young relieving and also bring in Boyd.

In: Boyd

Out JSOS

Gov goes forward as he is one of the few (along with Owies and Curnow) who can actually kick straight. Against the pies we need to be agile and bring immense pressure both perceived and actual. And playing one less tall to combat their run makes sense and also gives us further flex for the likes of Doc as to where we deploy him.

I’d imagine Durds and Mott’s are on thin ice and the coach may pull the trigger on one of them and replace with Fish. I really hope we resist the urge to play martin as I think he really needs a good 2-3 week block of VFL before returning to mitigate the inevitable calf tweak.

Hollands has an almighty ticker, but his light frame is catching up with him and I think he could benefit from a rest, again if we did go this way I’d bring in Fish. And have aces and Cotts as our wingers getting support from Cincotta, Doc, Walsh and Cez.

I’ll go against the grain here and think we can win. We love the G and I’m tipping us to cause an upset.

Also, hopefully Voss leans into what he did after half time and moving forward adopts a more flexible approach to shifting and mixing up our method / style.
