Think it's time to throw some things around

In TDK, Martin, Boyd
Out Jsos, Mots, Durdin

Shift Doc forward, swapping with Gov occasionally

Need better impact types forward. Done with Jsos in the ruck and his level of pressure also doesn't warrant a spot

Realistically, possibly Martin for either of Mots or Durdin
Not sure what happened with L.Young 2nd ruck experiment, seemed a better outcome for us vs the dual role JSOS.
Kemp for the sub as backup, if needed. Certainly better than Ed.

Absolutely no
Way JSOS gets dropped. The guy is one of the only players doing his job.

He tries hard but he’s not up to it. Trouble is I don’t think there is a replacement who’d do any better.

Gov we could try forward but he was dreadful up there last time we tried.

Kemp, I can’t really seeing any better than JSOS.

TDK would be worse than JSOS as well, no football smarts. He is all show and no go.

I guess it was because of a couple of brain farts last year. I think we want all our players to be good enough to be best 22.

Good on Owies for sticking up the doubters and I hope his form continues.

Perineal injured players like Martin and Cunners would also make a big difference forward but there’s a better chance I see a unicorn first than them two on the park together!

To be fair, I wouldn’t be playing if I had a perineal injury. Sounds very painful.

Cotts on Daicos would make sense.

Of course theatre demands Silvagni plays on Daicos
Cotts is the perfect match up, has the legs to go with him & the mongrel, strength & size to hammer him at every opportunity. Let’s see how he goes with someone he can’t outwork but is harder/stronger & keen to show it. Cotts would love the opportunity to go after him.

TDK is a better ruck option to JSOS, but offers absolutely nothing elsewhere. Plays like a space cadet. Will take a fantastic contested mark and then burn the kick. He’s just as bad as JSOS when shooting for goal. Not sure why they haven’t attempted to experiment with him in defense.

All we can do is move magnets because there’s absolutely sweet FA “talent” to come into the side to invigorate them.

Docherty and Saad are the only two players I trust in defence. Weitering is a shell, Young has well and truly inherited the Liam Jones brain farts and Gov ain’t much better

We are not the clearance winning team from the first half of last year so ruck domination is not a priority. The problems arise elsewhere. So unless you’re bringing TDK in to play first ruck, or to maintain trade value, or to trial him elsewhere on the ground, we’re not making any gains there.

Gov was a good set shot kick. At this stage, H is a liability up forward. If they want a reliable second tall target then they can move Gov forward. He can get the 3rd defender. JSOS is a warrior but no good as a second ruck and not reliable up forward. Can we not attempt to make use of his pedigree and trial him in defence?

Granted the preseason was the opportune time to test these things out. We shouldn’t be approaching round 10 and scratching our heads wondering what the right setup should be

As you know I’ve been very critical of Jacks lack of output but I thought he gave us something last night. He held his marks and in the ruck which I usually hate he had an impact. The only blotch was his goalkicking which admittedly is a big issue. I was more disappointed with Saad, Cripps, McKay, Young and Weitering. I’m not sure there is much we can do about those guys other than hope they turn a corner.
His job is to kick goals and create pressure as part of a system that locks the ball in. Hardly hits a pass mark for either let alone both.

Kemp is faster stronger and better overhead. He's better in congestion and has more natural footy creativity. Obviously. We're just carltoning him behind the ball. He's dynamic and just playing in deep d50 spots that hide everything he's got at and everything that saw him expected to go top 5 ish before his injury. He still went first round off a big injury ffs. This is no spud.

Cripps and Weitering should be dropped with how shocking their form and leadership has been.

Club won't make that call though so I don't know what we can do here.

Pies aren't going to play around with us like the Dogs did.

We live in hope though.

May sound far fetched but could almost imagine Weitering being ‘managed’ - clearly his head is not right.

We will be with them and have the momentum right up until the 20 min of the last quarter, when the umpire plucks a free kick in the ruck they go down and score we lose our momentum and lose by 3 goals.

If we bring our '1st half game', I'm expecting a 12 goal mauling.
If we bring our '2nd half game', I'd like to think we could win this.
If we bring our 1st half game it will be a 12 goal mauling.

If we bring our 2nd half game it will only be a 6 goal mauling

Collingwood have similar centre forward issues to us. That’s the only hope of us winning this game. If both teams stink it up then hopefully we can stink it up just a bit less.

Cripps as 3rd tall forward
Did well there last year with 20+ goals
Not helping us win with midfield efforts at the moment
Throw the opposition a real curveball
Change the midfield mix
Kennedy, Hewitt, Cerra and rotate pace through there with Motlop, Durdin, Saad
Hell, even throw Charlie in the middle for a few bounces
What have we got to lose

Out: Young, McKay, Cripps, E Curnow, Silvagni, C Durdin, Motlop
In: Kemp, S Durdin, Boyd, De Koning, Binns, Carroll

Newman S Durdin Kemp
Docherty Weitering Saad
Cottrell Kennedy Acres
McGovern De Koning Walsh
Cincotta C Curnow Owies
Pittonet Hewett Cerra

Hollands/Binns, Boyd, Carroll, Fogarty

Sub: Cripps

Harry is killing us and needs a dose of confidence. Covering for Cripps' defensive deficiencies is one thing, but when he loses the ability to hurt offensively as well, he needs a break. I put him as sub an an insurance policy. Considered also dropping Hewett but one has to stay and he is usually better defensively.

I wanted to drop Weiters, but I believe Young's ground game hurts just as much as Weiters being off the boil. I considered Young as a forward/second ruck, but TDK is surely better in that regard. Plus TDK can do the long searching leads down the ground that Harry can do and his hands are every bit as good.

McGovern up forward but he is interchangeable with Kemp there. Just wanted someone who has good recovery skills and kicks straight.

Cincotta has limitations. He takes the game on and gets caught down back. I'd like to see that tackle pressure and pace up forward. He doesn't stop trying and he is physical. Durdin and Motlop either get nowhere near it for much of the match, don't tackle or lose one on ones too easily. It's not working Vossy.

Boyd on the bench as the 7th defender. Hollands or Binns as the 3rd winger, depending on how Hollands comes up. Carroll and Fogarty into the midfield rotation.
C’mon ODN, Sam Durdin has been injured since early April & is at least a fortnight away from a VFL return (unfortunately, as there could be a spot for a switch down back).
