One thing I noticed in the last qtr, Acres got crunched going back with the flight and was hunched over on the ground obviously in some pain. Cripps was right there and didn't help him up or anything, just jogged off like nothing happened.

That stood out to me, would expect a bit more from the captain.
I'm watching the filth now, Hoskin Elliot gets smashed and the whole bloody team runs over to get around him.
Don't know if I'm looking too much I to it but didn't look like great leadership to me.
Culture 😟

Carlton has worn me out this year...
Going to watch the blues used to be special and something I looked forward to, green shoots and all...

Now it just feels like a weekend job, a chore, a waste of energy... Like everyone else feeling run down and deflated...

I'm a glutton for punishment, so I'll re-join next year...

But, if there isn't some serious change at the end of the year, to some or all of the board, list, coaches or Management...
Then I can't see us getting 90k supporters next year...

I've thought we actually played a lot more of an attacking style of play for the last few weeks. Yes they've made mistakes ( a shyte load of them) but thats going to happen when you change a game plan mid season.( I know I'll get some flack for this ) BUt at least it shows that Voss is trying to change things up. The basic skills we are showing are bloody deplorable, if we can correct this with this ne attacking style if play I think we could actually win 5/6 of our remaining games.
After he said at the end of a press conference recently he was 100% clear that they needed to work on defence and he didn’t want to walk out confused.

No wonder the players have checked out. He is so clueless it’s embarrassing.

Our small forwards are completely and utterly non effective have been saying this since last season this year they’ve gone to new levels of crapola … Martin is pure class if his body can hold up and then throw cunners back in there and we have some skilled classy users but we need about another 6 of these types that are also durable …

Jack Martin is definitely in our best 22.

Who are these people on the street George - can you tell me their names?

I certainly dont believe the Voss plan is to have them standing next to each other on the wing.
Spot on they have to go further up the ground as all our rebounding and attacking is generated from deep in defence. This means the mids aren't doing enough.

Does Rutten Ring a bell ? Cant you distinguish between the players having checked out and not wanting to play for the coach and his nothing game plan?

Sure I can. And you back in the coach and he gets rid of the players who wont play for him. Simple really. Its not a difficult concept.

It's not difficult, but I've never seen it so split between the 2 options.

So many reckon it's the coach, others reckon it's the players. I personally reckon we are horrifically slow and no-one could coach us successfully.

Usually it is more obvious to those with half a brain - why are we all so divided? It has to be a bit of both doesn't it?

The argument is that 1) there is no clear replacement. 2) he needs better assistants including a senior assistant with coaching experience.

3) the rule changes to open up the game have worked against us. Our midfield is now too slow, Voss inherited a slow midfield. Cerra was a good acquisition.

4) we’ve tried sacking the coach 4 times. We haven’t tried sticking fat and working out some of the other issues.

5) with every coach we sack it’s harder to attract talented coaches. Why would you want to roll your once chance at a senior coach at Carlton if they’ll sack you at the first sign of trouble?

I agree with pretty much all of that. But when you've got a talented group pretty much in their peak years (25-30) and you're in the bottom 4 the decision is taken out of the board's control. Their hand is essentially forced.

Ideally what we need is a board capable of appointing a decent coach.

I guess they'll let Voss limp along a bit longer, appoint an interim then throw everything at Hardwick.

The coach isn't the one running around on the field or kicking the ball 5m over Charlie's head when he's on a lead or standing there looking at each other instead of taking a simple chest mark.

However, it's very hard to sack 40-odd players.

Amazing watching Melbourne and Collingwood just run in numbers from behind and watching Essendon do it to us, we don't do that, seem to only have a few who can.

We've badly neglected the ability to run with our recruiting, this is SOS' biggest f'up.
Absolutely agree G Man. We need to add speed, spread and overlap. We are not in the finals mix now, time to play kids and get those with niggles under the knife.
Binns, LOB, Cow, Cunners and Dow need to be in our starting 22 ASAP.

Agree. Normally I'd be in the sack coach corner. I reckon he/we have made an error with our pre-season adjustments and we have gone backwards. All he can do is acknowledge that and make the requisite changes.

But if you marry that up against some of the comical on-field errors (which are no fault of the coach) where does that leave us?

If Cripps was fully fit and we'd had a very accurate goal kicking year, things could be so different.

If we add Cuningham, Binns and Williams plus 3 quicker drafted/traded in players, we have a squad that can compete with the current trend. I still think **** the problem players off at this stage.
