OK here's my take on the ongoing Dow saga. Smashes it in he VFL, BUT the game style played in the 1's is vastly different to the 2's. Bugger all pressure in the magoos compared to the 1's. Yes I know on the limited time he's had he has done OK, but that is the point, limited time. He doesn't have to play the whole game under the pressure of experienced AFL players.
Would he be consistent over 4 quarters, who knows?

My most humble apologies if my post offended anyone. Just trying to be my normal cool, funny as **** self.
But I get you it you magnificent moderators, who do a very much thankless job.
You are the wind beneath my wings. ❤❤

The treatment of Dow is digraceful.

As is the treatment of Young.

Regardless of whether you like him overall, for him to be dropped, brought back for 2 games, then scapegoated again is just a horrible.way to treat a KP defender. As if he could have done anything more to stop Wright last week when Essendon's midfielders were strolling through our midfield like it was Bourk St mall in the third quarter.

We have named 8 defenders this week, so I’m really hoping Boyd is an alternating winger with Cottrell (happy enough to see Cinc do this too). His speed, tackling and foot skills will help a forward line which has a bit more silk this week with Martin and now DC back.

Really need more zip and run in the guts, Boyd stands out as an option for me

Guess the issue is... the way we are handling him there is no way we will ever know that.

Key defenders... midfield pressure... hmm...

Having posted that, I actually have a glimmer of hope this week. It'll be a tough ask as Suns are a rising team, but I am more optimistic than I have been for quite a number of weeks...

Completely disagree.

I’d challenge you to look at his game again, regardless of the opposition ball movement.
He was weak in the contest, he was weak competitively. And has been in a number of games this year.
His almost complete inability to have a resemblance to AFL level composure or transition with ball in hand is mind boggling.
Given he has AFL level traits, he is good in the air, he can catch it and spoil it. He appears fit enough and does have resilience in his body.
I think the biggest question mark on him is his spirit to compete. Does he have that AFL level of competitive desire all good KPD have?
If you were to reference his performance this year that would be highly doubtful.
A team with aspirations to improve / compete can’t condone that.

Is Spiro Kourkoumelis making a comeback?
I had a lady ask me one day if I was wearing #28 for Spiro  Never mind that I wasn't even born when he started at Carlton. David Kernahan is the first #28 I remember .. for some strange reason I still remember Peter Turner as well...

Anyway, when I politely responded that I was wearing it for Cuningham, I got the raised eyebrow response and 'oh, ok'! Something like :hushed: .. Was like she had as much idea about who Cunners was as I had about Spiro.

Agree. So solid for the majority of last year. MC too reactive, too clueless and even worse clearly play favourites which was my bug bear about the Teague regime.

Is Dow sub again or just left out?

If so are saying Fogarty is better than Dow now?

On what planet?

The Dow thing is clearly Voss backing himself into a corner whereby if Dow plays and looks good Voss looks like a fool for writing him off. This situation alone demands the dismissal of Voss.

Coleman boys have also played against midget Swans and Bombers backline recently and it made no difference given our lack of system and poor delivery.

The onus is more ball carrier pressure to prevent proper and frequent delivery to their fwd talls.

Ok, but you will notice that i said 'regardless of what you think of him overall...'

Even if you think he is the sole reason for our loss last week, it is appalling player management to take 55 game KP player, drop them, play them out of position for one week in the reserves, bring them straight back, then scapegoat them two weeks later.

He was excellent last year, albeit still with room for improvement. If he isn't playing well, then give him time and space to work through it - whether in the seniors or reserves.

Yo-Yo-ing players based on the rub of the green week to week is only going to kill their confidence, and that's doubly dangerous for a KPD who needs to trust themselves to read the play.

And all that aside, Gold Coast are lining up three talls (King, Lukosius, Casboult). I honestly don't see how we defend that adequately with McGovern/Weitering and Kemp as the third option (on Lukosius? That seems horribly risky) without a further intercept defender.

Luko doesn't play as a tall - he's like a really good jack Watts. He's a running link player, Kemp's probably the only one with the required athleticism to go with him and Kemp has him covered aeirally. Will be brilliant experience for him.
