I think in all likelihood (not the fault of anyone) that Jack has probably reached the ceiling he can he at Carlton, and needs to go to another club to better himself (away of being burdened by the family name)

Just my own personal view mind you, I am more than happy if we kept JSOS, I just honestly think he would be happier at a new club with a fresh slate.
The way those fans were abusing him was disgraceful. He may not have the athletic talent but what he lacks in A Grade skill, he makes up for with work rate, passion and smarts, always gives his all.

I'm glad for him that he got his name on the locker.

If he stays I will be happy, but if he goes I'll be happy for him to break free of the name and the pressure of it and to just be.

I would not be easy being a Silvagni son and what we saw last weekend at the tunnel was just low.

We are going to get smashed.

Witts is going to maul Pitt and TDK and give their mids first look and they are far too quick for our mids.

Super worried about Lukocious.

Size & Athletically Kemp is a good match up to Lukocious - defensive ability wise - Kemp would have a very long & unpleasant night. We don’t have a good match up

I have it from the 'Roan's mouth, not of the Blue variety, but from someone really 'close' that JSOS aint ever going to the Saints if his future is not at CFC. He doesn't want to deal with the dad shite again. He may actually really benefit with an interstate move where he can be under the radar, like QLD or Sydney. Gold Coast may be a really good fit for him/us......
Gold Coast would be great, can take Dow with him, would be nice to have a local team to get behind.
I give no ****s about Bris or GC currently

I'm very happy to see both Jack Martin and David Cuningham on the half forward flanks. As much as we've all been highly critical of the coaching - particularly the forward line - we have missed some of our key half forwards who have decent kicks and decision making into the forward line.

Personally would prefer we had Dow in instead of Fog, facilitated by moving Cripps/Kennedy into rotating role forward (potentially rotating with Kennedy, but using the forward line to shake the tag, and having a quicker set of mids at the centre bounce and stoppages).

:whitecheck: Cuningham bringing more run up forward and minor mid rotation - yep
:whitecheck: Trying Fogarty again, also can bring run and defensive pressure - desperate times call for desperate measures - (exceot Jack could have played there)
:whitecheck: Dropping Ed & Motlop to rest - car factor zero

➖ Potential to use spare ruck as a defender instead of a mediocre forward - meh
➖ Newman straight in after a hamstring strain - risky
➖ Leaving Boyd when he's allergic to overlap runs - meh
➖ Kemp as a defender - they havent played him anywhere else all year

❌ 8-10 defenders, 6-7 mids, 6 forwards, 1-2 rucks instead of 7/9/5/1
❌ Docherty as a mid - needs a rest
❌ Dropping Jack - agree
❌ Leaving Dow as sub - unlucky
❌ Leaving Cottrell when he can't ramp disposal and defensive read with game tempo - VFL except for run headless run
❌ Not picking Binns - no view

We might physically overwhelm Gold Coast and win, but it'll be an empty victory beyond shifting the dynamics of the forward line.

I was taken aback - on paper a very weird under-resourced midfield .....

Pretty certain we have Martin & Cunningham to lift this area both of whom have talent, Fogarty is a battler.
Binns is young and untried at this of the year where we at it makes much more sense.
That’s still advocating for putting a debutant into the team to either play a role he’s never played, or shuffle several other pieces around to accomodate him.

Binns will get his chance. Fog deserves his too

Depending on how Fogarty and Cuningham present, that can be mitigated, but yeah.

Dow, Binns, O'Brien - even Jack - right there, and Kemp in defence. Just a question of how well the larger mids blend, but as if we wouldn't thrive with speed, endurance and football nous being brought in to improve transition play and dynamic stoppage play.

Personally want 4 outside mids (O'Brien, Acres, Walsh, Binns/Hollands), 1 defensive mid (Hewett), 1-2 pure inside (Cripps, Kennedy), 3 balanced (Dow, Cerra, Kemp/JSOS). Then you just drop one of Boyd or Cincotta and swing Docherty into defence.

The underperforming small forwards go back, the midfield gets to apply midfield pressure, and the forwards get to be forwards more, forward half pressure agents less.

In truth it's more like 7/9.5/4.5/1.

I mean, that's also the definition of practice.

Of course, the catch is that you have to be practicing the right things.
Correct.. An old golf coach used to bang on about practice not making perfect but practise making permanent. Ie you can practise all you like however if your set up is not correct you just entrench bad habits and your game will never really progress.

I think there is a bit of that across the list. Those scorched earth rebuilds create an environment of such familiarity with defeat, it becomes a habit or an acceptance that is hard to reset.

Couple that with poor development / coaching. Such continual outcomes like we are seeing will continue.
