Still work to do, undefeated after the first two rounds, happily taking that start to the year. Lots to like about the rookies, good to see them playing because they deserve to be there rather than them being there because we have no choice but to play them as has happened in the past.

2022 is still fresh in my mind. And round 1 certainly didn't help. I hope this a turning point.
My memory goes beyond 2022, year after year, season over after a month, sitting at 0-4, I'll take this any day.

Quick caveat that Geelong were clearly not firing on all cylinders tonight, but glad we fought it out. Best game I've seen Kennedy play, and McKay put up midfielder numbers covering the ground tonight.

Charlie, Durdin and Motlop bringing the attacking power tonight, with Owies getting on the end a bit to finish. Still have my concerns with his mobility, but you can see that he's making good decisions.

Two rucks clicked into place for us late as a screen for McKay to take a few grabs, but otherwise it's going to require TDK picking up a lot of forward craft to account for the heavy legs he's have after centre bounce work. Pittonet was more mobile than I've seen for a while, but he was also far more selective. Balance isn't right there.

Docherty's fitness is a little bit of a worry to me, and it immediately drags down his disposal by foot. Hope he can iron it out. Newman still probably the first defender I'd replace, but like Owies still making good decisions... just rarely hurts the opposition when he does so.

Grain of salt with this result, but happy we got the win.
And we weren’t firing on all cylinders either

Oh Jim. Poor Newman. He will be devastated reading another one of your critiques of him. Kennedy happy he is in the good books. Pitt satisfied he's been indirectly praised. Docherty really worried. He'll go for a run tomorrow to build his fitness.

Ollie Hollands was sublime, not just a great first year player but one of our best tonight.

Ed held Guthrie in the first half, then spread and earned plenty in the second half. 26 touches and a goal for a 33 year old is a great return. Anyone know why he was drenched right before he came back on in the last couple minutes? Hahahahahahahahah

Ed huge...strong and one of our best runners. Gave us a good midfield rotation when we needed it.

Love that he and Charlie get to play and win together!
