I am in 2 minds as to what we should do this week if as I suspect we will get to 6:10pm on Sunday and the result will be irrelevant for us, we will be in 5th win or lose.

Resting players can be dangerous, 2 weeks is a long time to have off and we risk them returning sluggish.. There is probably a good chance that we may play our final on the Friday night which will mean its only a 12 day break which might be beneficial.
Do we give Walsh, Gov & Cerra another week to recover or do we ensure they have game time and match fitness before our critical final??
Do we want another week of Harry & Charlie to form cohesion in the forward line?
Are we 100% sold on the 2 rucks playing, do we revisit TDK & JSOS as a combo, as Pitto has been underwhelming?

FWIW - Assuming the result is irrelevant for us, i would be resting Cripps, he looks sore and tired.
Tex Walker needs 8 goals, if he doesn't get them i would tell Charlie to have a week off.
Weiters has had a big year, put him on ice.
Assuming they are fit, play Walsh first half then sub him off for Cerra who will start as sub..
Rest Jack Martin - his body is made of glass and he has been too important for us since coming back.

If they're right, they should play.

Often after a lengthy break, players are good week 1 then struggle week 2. We may as well make "week 2" the bye, otherwise if we win our first final, we run the risk of having too many that are "second up" in the semi final.

I'd expect a late out of Crippa if we go into the afternoon knowing our position won't change.

But with the week off anyway, I can't see a world where Doc, Charlie or (especially) Crippa will want to sit out a minute of the season - they're all enjoying the ride too much right now.

Few musts though: Gov, Cez and Walshy in to get a run before finals. Feel for whoever comes out.

I'm not a fan of the mass-resting though - even if we've got the position locked away. Form and momentum is huge - so an unnecessary loss on Sunday might have a negative impact on our confidence.

St Kilda could beat Brisbane.

No, they really can’t.

If the cats best the dogs and final standings can’t change …. We just shake hands on Sunday night and go to the pub

Your shout.

Edit: Oh and I pick the venue :tearsofjoy:

Of course we all want to see Charlie win the Coleman however assuming Tex doesn't get 9 goals on Saturday night I'd be happy for Charlie to not play.

If we ain't moving from 5th (win, lose or draw) then good opportunity to not risk Charlie & Cripps and have those two boys absolutely cherry ripe for finals.

Convinced Crippa played on Saturday with a broken rib or two from that crunching tackle late in the Melbourne game.

Got to have a balance between not flirting with our form but being smart as to how we manage our most important players.

Form changes -
OUT: Marchbank
IN: McGovern
Watching the game last with at HBS, this change is obvious. Not sure how obvious it is to those who watched it on TV, but we cannot take Marchbank into finals. I look forward to what he can do in '24.

I would rest Cripps and Docherty, and in their place, select Cerra and Walsh. It is close to like-for-like role wise.

Finals - Cripps and Doch come back in. Subject to next week's performance, spots for Cotters, Hollands, Cincotta and Cuningham are all looking dicey.

I think Dow is our finals sub. Don't think Kennedy gets a look in for the rest of the year subject to injury (to a mid or to Martin).

We lacked forward pressure in the first half last week and I would seriously be considering Fogarty (probably for Cuningham).

Would like to play JSOS next week to see where he is at.
Agree with all of this 100%. agree Dow a good fit for Sub. think Fog must play. tight competition for spots with good players around the fringe, but a strength as finals games will be taxing

Is Kennedy not a more versatile sub than Dow.. Both have shown they can impact late in games when used as a Sub, but Kennedy can play almost anywhere on the ground if required, however Dow is quite limited in this aspect.. Have loved everything Dow has done since getting a chance but if we are purely talking about a sub role I am going with Bam Bam.

This week will be super interesting at selection.

How pragmatic will they be - per resting?

Bit of a gamble with form.

Might it be better to get your A Team in this week ( injuries allowing ), having them gel a little pre finals ?

Not sure we are so finals accomplished that we can manage our team too much.

Love we’re talking finals now - rather than the draft :).
