A facility for language appears to be of less and less importance to an occupation ostensibly charged with communication.

Don’t get me started on his routine and pervasive preposition abuse.
He should be quite anaspeptic, frasmotic, even compunctuous to have caused us such pericombobulations.

Dusted off the account to add to this discussion as Kingy and Leigh Montagna were making the same points, comparing the score from stoppage and score from turnovers of every top 8 team and I was paying a little attention (Usually it's just background noise or I watch it to laugh at Robbo).

The media are always going to use these 'In the past X weeks' stats to try and drum up some kind of perceived 'insight' into how they think things will shape up, but I think these particular stats kinda don't mean anything when you take into account that for a lot of the games we have played, particularly in recent times, and even by admission of Vossy, we have won in different ways. The game vs the Demons being the most obvious one.

I'm too lazy to dig myself, but I'd like them to compare game to game stats on how teams have been able to adjust and adapt. Like sure, we're number 1 from stoppage, but how many of those games did we play where suddenly we were losing stoppage and found other scoring sources when required?

The number doesn't say we can't score from turnover, it just says we don't, or don't need to.

Disclaimer: Just throwing thoughts out onto the internet.

Cerra and Walsh need as much gametime as possible before finals, put them in a system where we're almost full strength so they can recalibrate... none of this resting crap. We can rest when the bye comes around, putting some of our better players in cotton wool for two weeks might be detrimental for them when they come back. If someone says "oh but it'll be more detrimental if they get injured", well, that can happen any game. It's up to the fitness staff to have them conditioned and fit enough anyway, I don't think we should be flirting around with our form. Press the boot down on their neck.

I agree 99%. But Cripps would benefit an extra week off to freshen up. Looks sore.

Think we rest Crippa this week & let Hew/Kennedy/Dow fight it out for a finals gig - form gets u a finals spot.
You rest Crippa as he is carrying injury, yes he could play but let him heal.
1st final he will go absolutely batshit crazy & hulk smash all game long. He’s been waiting for finals & will be massive.
Let him be 100% for it, backing up will be hard enough as it is, without having any sort of niggle.
We need him fit for every game & honestly need to protecting him from himself.

Yeah, I think he may be the only exception to that as he's clearly carrying a rib issue. Perhaps even Doc.
Plus if Kennedy is fit and ready to go it gives him a run whilst keeping Dow in to build confidence going into finals. Win all round.
And yes, if Doc is sore, give him a rest.
But agreed, no bruise free footy. Play to win with as per normal.

Still reckon the game plan that results in us kicking a higher score than the opposition will hold up in pretty much most games

Perspicacity is not contingent upon vocabulary, Thrawnie. Neither is the capacity to convey depth and understanding.

Even if I did have to google frasmotic…

The buzz word moving forward is:

IMPACT.

Yeah, it is. But something that strikes me is that Charlie already mentioned it in his on-ground, post-game interview. Which suggests to me that internally they had been already talking about impact finals before they had confirmed that they were making finals.

I think this is significant because if the attitude had been about making finals, then after last week it would feel like 'job done, mission accomplished'. But players were already primed to thinking bigger than that. It might turn out to be a very important message.

I don't think kennedy gets a look at all with the time he's had off
Ease Kennedy in with the sub vest, rest Cripps and Doc.
If he doesn't gather some match fitness this week, then he's no more than emergency for the finals IMO.(10th week not playing at any level in a cut throat final isn't worth the risk)
