VFL wise we have Buzza and Kyle Dunkley as older players and we picked up Rayners brother.
Matho would not be bad as a VFL only player for us if he does not get interest.
You think a few teams might look at him.

Not sure we need both Matho and Lyons in the twos as backup
Be interesting what happens with Zorko you do worry he lost a bit of pace now although skills still elite.
We have a few kids like Lohmann, Prior, Sharp, Tunstill and not to forget Madden and Answerth.
Ashcroft to come back as well.

Yes, but if he chooses to go to say a Gold Coast, Sydney or GWS then they might help us out pick wise for 2024. Matho and a 4th for a 3rd or something.
Matho is an unrestricted free agent for life.

No team needs to trade for him, as he can walk to any team he wants as a freebie.
He looked around last year without any luck so probably similar this year.
Either we give him another year as a rookie or he is delisted imo.
Matho has looked around the last two trade periods, with no interest.

Teams aren’t interested in a slow inside mid with questionable aerobic capacity. Especially as he’s just likely to sit in their reserves.

I'd be expecting both Zorks and Lester to retire at the end of next year. Both have been huge in our cultural improvement. I reckon we held on to Lester for many years when he wasn't playing firsts because of that.

I think Matho has become that quintessential clubman, instilling our culture into the young ones, supporting and encouraging everyone. A club needs players like that. If he doesn't find a home elsewhere, and good luck to him if he does, I'd be happy to keep him on the list or at least as a contracted VFL player for a cpl more years.

Coming around to the idea of Jackson Hately.

Depending what happens during trade period, and the clubs draft plans, I wouldn’t be against looking at a couple of delisted free agents on one year contracts.

But it is asking a lot for a player to move interstate on a minimum deal.

I'd be happy to take Bonner

Interesting that we expect his ACL recovery to take ~13 months. I think Hipwood and Rayner came back after ~10 months.

Presume this is on the conservative end of the spectrum and he will be back in April/May. I suppose better to under promise and over deliver.

Geez we are light on for key position depth! Lose Daniher or Hipwood and there’s nothing forward depth wise.

Wonder if we can grab someone like Brodie McLaughin from Gold Coast as a DFA.

He is 26 in 2 months and never played an AFL match, but was the leading goal-scorer in the VFL past 2 seasons.

Could be a money ball player for us with ours key-forward stocks IMO, especially given full-forwards are hard to find these days and we are in the midst of a premiership run.

Seemed a strange delisting

To be fair, Gold Coast will have Lukosius, King & Walter as their tall forwards for the next 5-10 years, with Casboult and Day being additional depth for them in the short-term support.

I have no idea what the club has in mind.
But i would think one of those two would be a better risk than gambling on someone pick 46 onwards.

Maybe another player or two that fit our needs will show up soon.
It would take a 2-year contract to entice someone from interstate.
I think 2 years is fine considering what we have possibly coming our way next year.

A ripper kid( man now).
Had a little bit to do with him at his first senior club in the Ammos down here in Melb. Played the yr as mainly a midfielder and killed it.
Wierd delisting recently, indeed.

Jackson Hately and Riley Bonner.

How big is he?

Everyone is different. When I did my first one as a young fella I was given the all clear at 8 months, but I waited until 9.

Probably giving some extra time because his rehab began at Adelaide. Guessing we have a way of doing things and want to check all the boxes.

Really Briz? He’s dead average.

He is.

But I can’t think of any other delisted free agents that might still have some upside or growth left in their game, that we could pick up on rookie contract.

I’m looking for solid depth squad players, who will be behind the likes of Robertson and Tunstill, particularly if Mathieson moves on this offseason, and Lyons next offseason.
