FMD, did I miss the notification that this thread's now an essay writing competition? Or are the past couple of pages just a bunch of Tas alt accounts arguing with each other?
I'll take it as a compliment.

Apologies for the wordy posts - An exceptionally quiet day at work for me.

Happy to have reasonable discussion on here about trades etc but let’s keep them measured on both sides. No reason for things to get spicy.

Weagles will bend over eventually. Patience folks.
I have no issue with them bending over, as long as Brady isn’t bending over with them.

It’s quite obvious the Hawthorn deal was pretty good. Pick 4, F1 which you would think will be no worse than 8 and a player they wanted.

Reid is no where near worth that offer.

Unless they are set on taking Reid, the only hold out you would think is that they have a specific target they think they can only get with 2 and will only deal with us on that basis.

I just don’t think any player is worth what people are speculating. People keep saying Reid is what is making it so valuable, but at the same time making out like every player after him is a scrub.

Take the picks to the draft and fill the list out. The two players taken at 2 + 3 will present more value than a solitary Reid.

Actually the golden egg is only worth what somebody is willing to pay.

It might be gold on the outside, but who knows if it’s rotten on the inside?

Big red flags when you have a journo who is close to his manager very vocal about him not wanting to go there.

Sounds like the manager is getting the journo do the dirty work while keeping his clients hands clean.

if they don't bend over just don't do the deal. it's really that simple. the difference between one player and the next best one isn't going to be the difference between success and failure for our football club if we've got the right system in place. and if we don't have the right system in place we won't win anything anyway

Damo is obsessed with the fact we haven't offered up 2+3 for pick 1 yet. Seems genuinely offended we started off at best possible option for us and are working our way down.

Can't seem to process that in a negotiation you don't start high, because you can't negotiate back down to less.

he will be apoplectic if we don't offer 2+3 at one point.

One of the only good points that they've made a few times is that people are too obsessed with the Draft Point Index and picks 1-7 are far more valuable than a couple of picks in the late teens with similar DPI value.
Is Damo as obsessed as he was when we didn’t hand over our first rounder for NDS on day one of the FA period?

You know, that struck us as odd too. Very odd. As if it has all been a bit orchestrated.

It could just be Mclure being a w***er, but the fact that he has a close relationship with the manger was very interesting.

It could be the managers way of getting the message out there while distancing Reid from the message itself.

Not sure if it made waves over there, but Reid went on SEN WA the day before and made clear he's happy to come to Perth and take the #9 guernsey. He also said McClure must not like him much for making stuff up about him.

The next day that happens.

It seems a bit pantomime to me.

The footage which I’ve seen of Curtin he has looked just above average in a couple, and very good in the rest. But it his agility and hands below his knees for a tall which stand out. Plus going by the stats he seems a natural accumulator regardless of where he plays. It‘s not so much how good he is now but what he could become.
Also was very good one on one with Walter. Look at the likes of Moore and how the Pies attack starts from defense and they run. Structurally he would add so much and no doubt the other mid options look good but this looks a great fit and will complement McKercher or whoever we choose at 2. We will likely have another decent pick next season to build on the midfield.

A nice well thought out post but you've made a core error in your assumption.
Curtin is our third pick, and not our need. McKercher is the alternate target supposedly, just being kept on the downlow.

Pick 3 doesn't help us get McKercher. The rest of the post sadly falls over.
3,15,17 and F2 sounds great, but really it doesn't fix our list.
I was just putting it out there as an example, with #3 you can pick who you want, l'm pretty sure NM won't be dealing #2 cos they exactly know who they want since the end of Rd 24 imo, probably #3 as well.

You say that those picks l suggest, doesn't fix your list, surely it's better than 1 & 23? And don't give me that old ' but the draft pool drops dramatically after top 10' that's said every year until they review a draft some 10 years later.

l am Reid-bias but considering our draft hand, it's leaning towards taking 5 of the top 20 players capping what most would presume as the end of the rebuild in terms of bottoming out. However, genuinely interested in your opinion:
A). What is your clubs plan to transitioning these 30+ yo's?
B). Where do you see your list in terms of ladder position next year thru to 2026?
C). I normally would say barring injuries, but mate, 2 years of the same players getting injured, you must be concerned that you are potentially a year away from a mass of retirements?
D). With this in mind, how does Reid and whoever #23 is, fix your list?

Every supporter overvalues their players on their lists but after the last 4 years, many of our fan's are now impatient that even the likes of our #4 pick in WillPhill, if they don't see improvements it's like 'banish him' when in the past we would have persisted with a player for 10 years.

That is more useful than the other crap that was offered though. You seem to miss that point.

I would be declining that offer. It isn't enough to shift from what I understand to be the clear #1 prospect.

Understandable, but then I’d go to the draft with what we have… Pick 1 is a would like to have not a need…

Agreed. North are far stronger without 1 given what I think the premium will be.

PS. Sorry BF NMFC board, l'll take my discussions with MOP to the mainboard .. but that P1 discussion..a brickwall gives better answers!!
If not Reid it has to be McKercher.
That's the short of it

If your club thinks the same way, then a trade could only we be us or keep the pick…So how far apart do you have Reid above McKercher..?
