Not sure if it made waves over there, but Reid went on SEN WA the day before and made clear he's happy to come to Perth and take the #9 guernsey. He also said McClure must not like him much for making stuff up about him.

The next day that happens.

It seems a bit pantomime to me.
You don't think even an 18 year old knows the right thing to say?

I mean, JHF slept in his NMFC jumper on draft night. Meant SFA in the end.

West Coast are trying to get the best outcome for their club pick wise and are using Reid in trying to get that..If pick 1 was about more than 1 player then clubs would most likely not get involved with such ridiculous requests. l think we call their bluff and seeing as the Hawks have put their best offer on the table and been rejected it seems to be either us or the Dees..We will always have the better hand but dont want to short change ourselves,,,l think West Coast will end up with pick 1 but will pick someone other than Reid maybe McKersher..

l'm thinking it will be..

WC................McKersher
GC.................Walter Matched Bid
NM................Reid
Nm................Duursma
Hawks............Sanders
WB................Watson
Dees............. ???????
GWS............. ???????
NM............... Curtin........traded picks to Geelong for pick 8/9

I think it was giantroo on here that mentioned McClure and Reid are both managed by Gieschen.

It was really f***ing weird as was the photo ops at the Connors function.

I think Reid is legit, if he got drafted to the Eagles he’d give his all but something stinks a little like his management are happy to make a little noise on his behalf. Of course you’d imagine every single draftee would rather stay in the home state.

It’ll be interesting how the Eagles play this. I get the impression North is happy to see how it plays out because imo Kerch is a bloody good consolation prize for us.

I have no issue with them bending over, as long as Brady isn’t bending over with them.

It’s quite obvious the Hawthorn deal was pretty good. Pick 4, F1 which you would think will be no worse than 8 and a player they wanted.

Reid is no where near worth that offer.

Unless they are set on taking Reid, the only hold out you would think is that they have a specific target they think they can only get with 2 and will only deal with us on that basis.

I just don’t think any player is worth what people are speculating. People keep saying Reid is what is making it so valuable, but at the same time making out like every player after him is a scrub.

Take the picks to the draft and fill the list out. The two players taken at 2 + 3 will present more value than a solitary Reid.
Agree sir.

JHF is not a great mark. That’s just untrue. He looks strong but has fumbling hands in the marking contest.

And he’s a good kick, not a great one. Length on the leg is good and fairly reliable but definitely not elite in terms of accuracy.

You have definitely overrated him.
I hate the Judas as much as the next guy but he has all the attributes to be greater than Dangerfield.

HR has nothing on Judas.

Judas was ripping games apart against men as a 17 year old.

Once his tank improves he will be unstoppable.

I reckon I watched this one 1st and thunk his disposal was meh .... but I've watched a couple of others since and thunk he was a bit of a smooth mover with a nice peg. If this is his worst highlights, and the others his best, well idk, but that Sanders fella looks ok too. I did like that Duursma one where he played for Casey, didn't think much of that Curtin one I watched, and am slowly working my way about watching one from whathisname Reid. Not a fan of Watson. Or something, imo, funny face thing, or else,
Yeah you cant really watch a highlights package over a number of games, everyone will look good. Try to isolate games.
Im not saying McKercher is bad, i am saying Sanders is significantly better disposal wise in that game. Could also be Kerch just had a stinker disposal wise that game despite racking it up 40 times.
Tbh i didnt even look at Duursma until this week with the chatter about him and must say im impressed. More than happy to take him with one option. Amazingly strong mark for his height, one grabbers and a lovely set shot, good mover etc. Looks like a Mason Wood type physically, only way more skilled. Has the potential to play almost anywhere.
I was big on Curtin only going by what id seen in highlights and really wanted to see his combine numbers as id had a slight question mark on agility. He's already a big boy and 'may' lose more agility as time goes on. Duursma is the body type that wont be a problem, so without all available info im more inclined to lean towards him.
One thing for sure.....we've got very exciting times ahead.

You've combined two different scenarios but ultimately yeah.

Rioli wanted out. Not much we could do there. We got unders but our hands were tied.

For pick 2 we did indeed trade down because we had two local lads we liked in a core position of need. Our midfield drafting in the years prior was minimalistic to the point of nonexistent. Our list manager went for the divide and conquer strategy and nailed it. We've got some high end grunt in Reuben Ginbey and some X factor in Elijah Hewett, but neither of these is the centrepiece of the midfield. We need the star. We're now in the position to get said star.

Our main target is the same dude everyone wants - we don't need to sell to get what we want here.
Its solely a matter of whether someone else wants him enough to pay the high premium.

I reiterate, I don't believe it's in the best interests of the North Melbourne list to do so.
I think the main appeal for us with Reid is his ability to play other positions, not just an all out mid. Personally i dont think theres much difference between he, Sanders and McKerch other than that utility factor. We've got a good young group of mids already but there are question marks around how we manage them when not in their preferred positions.
I wouldnt be surprised one bit if we went Duursma and Curtin for that utility factor.

Yep, I'm just waiting for the roadshow to make it to the draft night/s and then get excited by who we got. I hope Brady and co have shut up shop til then as there's nothing on the calendar bar Guy Fawkes night

It might be gold on the outside, but who knows if it’s rotten on the inside?

Big red flags when you have a journo who is close to his manager very vocal about him not wanting to go there.

Sounds like the manager is getting the journo do the dirty work while keeping his clients hands clean.
Pictured with Reid as well so clearly has contact.

McKercher looks a lot like Bontempelli to me. Damaging.
Perceptions are interesting, aren't they? To me, that's the knock. He seems busy and speedy without being 'damaging'. Not saying he's not a good player, but doesn't scream 'Pick 2' to me. Not that I couldn't see him in royal blue and white, nor would I be unhappy if we selected him. Rather, I see more in Duursma and Sanders, putting aside Reid.

Back to perceptions, it's great reading all the different views about the top 6 or so players this year and the different arguments, for and against.

Remember the rumours about Morabito pre- draft? Apparently both Melbourne and Richmond asked him the question "where do you see yourself playing your best football?" And he said "Perth".

If WCE won't budge on #1/Reid:

#2 Bid on Walter
#3 Bid on Ethan Read - f'em make them use their picks and payback for not trading #4
#4 Curtin - best KPD in the pool, player that can really go forward, doesn't need to go into the middle imo as we've got the bull that can go in there to spice things up....we just need a talented KPD.
#5 Sander - as much as l wanted Watto, insurance for Wardlaw and l think the club owe's to him since we've made him go through all the hoops of NGA and trying to pick him as assistance plus with his friendship with Sheez, less likely to go to Tassie when they come calling.
#17 D.Wilson - smart ball user, play wing, hbf or go in the middle. Stephens/Tucker and Fisher allows him time to be developed in either wing or attacking HB.
#19 M.Edwards - Outside of Read, probably the best ruck in the pool and can go forward and equally drops into the hole in def. He can develop whilst X has the No.1 or cover for CCJ
#20 Tew Jiath - Sound defense, has the length to cover midsize/fwd and pretty good kick..Clarko wants another CJ, here's his brother.

He had a lot of quiet ones too. Reid had a few very impressive VFL games this year.
But i do agree, JHF will be a gun no doubt about it.

Don't mind this myself but feel we need another key forward. Would take Archer reid in place if Wilson. With the acquisition of Fisher and Stephens to go with tucker Scott and Ford don't think wing is our most required position. Defs agree on Edwards although with bradys comments about getting a rookie ruckman wouldn't surprise if we don't take him either

That is a theory someone posted on our board, yes.
I'll go on the record and say I hate the weird wishy washy compensation the AFL gave out. I don't love the McKay pick 3 thing but that was on the cards eons ago. The messaging is wonky and weird.
There is many a salt packet on our trade board about this very matter.
Between that and the many northern academy picks, this draft is cooked.

I hold no ill will towards North for making the most of a s**t system though. You can only play the ball as it comes.

The question I put to you is this - you're Brady Rawlings, I'm Rohan "The Pie Man" O'Brien. What are you offering for pick 1? Best and final offer.
Good question. Picks 2, 15, 17 for 1 and 22 is about my best offer.
