A big money, stupidly long deal was always going to secure band 1 no matter the player. Yeah it sucks that the Shinbeggars are getting even more draft concessions but there is no grand conspiracy at play. Everyone has been factoring it in for weeks now.
The optics look very ordinary

So Laura Kane ,formerly employee of North Melbourne now general manager of AFL footy operations . And Brad Scott formerly employee of AFL and now Essendon coach concocting together compensation pick 3 for ex roo Mckay.
That stinks more than what comes out of the backside of Gil's polo horse.

The beggars haul is ridiculous and all they have lost is Ben Mckay.

If they stuff this up, you may as well send them up to Southport for good.
Southport are a proud club. They wouldn’t have them.

The good news is Essendon got a plodder for their list, yet somehow think they've unearthed the next Glen Jackovich, and put together a contract to match?
They’re collecting belly lint at the moment, and using their “war chest” to do so. It’s amusing that they will probably, yet again, peak at a first round finals exit and be back to the drawing board.

Just pick Watson - small forward is a massive need and the kids a freak

Don’t worry about Norf and their handouts- their pathetic development will turn them all their picks into spuds anyway
It won’t

Eventually the sheer volume of premium picks will have a decisive impact

Pick 3 for mckay is bs

Obviously the system is wrong when bud gets 19 and mckay and Frawley top 5

Nothing wrong with compos …just do the fundamentals and have a logical system in place …it’s very easy to do

Sleepys attitude we ll do with what comes our way not good enough…no …you ll get the best and as a base fair outcomes for hawthorn, otherwise do (or try to ) something about it

It is what it is. No need to fret about it. Just remember there can be no more than 3 players taken before our pick(disregarding academy picks). So if we think the top 4 are Reid, Curtin, Duursma and The Wiz, then we will get one of them or another player we are keen on.
If wc keep pick 1, then we must pick curtains. That way we can do a straight swap of players next year

This thread moves so fast.

Richmond need to offer up more for Kosi, he has an offer on the table from us, they have a 3 year deal in front of him apparently and yet apparently he's worth less than Chol who was told he should look elsewhere. Kosi is younger and really found a strong role for him late in the year where he could have an impact and get his hand on the ball to keep the confidence up.

Was actually excited to see how he developed in that role next year with a big preseason focussing on that role so sad to see him depart.

Regarding Reid, he's a gun but he isn't worth us throwing away a bunch of picks for. Our midfield was really good this year so our focus needs to be on our deficiencies and bringing in some cream to compliment the engine room.

Does everyone really think that Dodo is going to walk quietly into the sunset ?

Haha... no....

Set a thief to catch a thief.

You keep saying this but it doesnt make sense.

Assuming essendon are mid table again, both are going to trade pick 3 for two 8s? Nah.

Sure it might be essendons plan, but north ain't doing that.

Essendon will back themselves in to improve. McKay and Gresham instantly improve their side by freeing up Ridley and taking a small forward slot, which is a hole that needs filling.

They have several talented youngers developing that they are backing in to improve in Hobbs, Perkins, Cox, Reid, Martin, Jones, Tsatas and Davey.

Level crossing bells are heard whenever that club goes anywhere near a drawing board. Middling peaks and then short lived troughs are all they aspire too now.

Meanwhile North are seemingly taking their top ten picks, and turning them into collective belly lint.

They'll probably do an early years GWS come good for a bit at some point.

But otherwise they seem glued to their own version of the Bombers drawing board.
