Dow looks like a low cost high potential pick up. Probably a bit better than depth IMO. Probably kills off Bytel's career though.
His papers are stamped at Carlton, I’d be happy to give him a chance at the right price. My son in law in a mad carlton fan so I pay a bit more attention to them than I otherwise would. I think he could be another stocker, they have badly mismanaged him and only seem to see what he can’t do. The kids smashing them at vfl level with another 40 plus game on the weekend but they can’t find a spot for him and keep picking some absolute donkeys in front of him.

I‘m hoping by the end of the year bytel will have been given a chance to prove his worth but I’d be happy enough with both on our list.

Dow has played 63 senior games. Not like he hasn't had a chance.

The numbers from our game against them suggest we are around the mark. We edged them in almost every significant stat except maybe tackles, I think. And the scoreboard obviously.

We won centre and stoppage clearance and contested possession. Held a game high lead of 19 points.

I just don’t think we’re as far off the mark as we sometimes lament. We could certainly be made better by some burst speed and more contested energy in the middle.

Your comment, and this years progress has me thinking what might have been had we been successful in recruiting De Goey.

Don't laugh, my Carlton family think he's an idiot who would do that stuff for petty self satisfaction. They might have me paranoid but they have a list of his dumb list management decisions that they like to recite.
SOS working wonders. He just got Hardwick to quit, so he can take on the soon to be vacant Blues coaching job. A tandem effort.
SOS will **** Carlton from the outside and Hardwick will **** them from the inside. Now that my friend is how you do a conspiracy theory.

Precisely the type of player we need, and I am heartened by the fact we went hard at him as it suggests to me we know where significant improvement can be found.

He’s rarely if ever been used properly Imo, he played a lot in his first two years and you could see his confidence draining away over that period. He barely played last year 4 games and I think some were as the sub and he hasn’t gotten a look in this year. I’m not suggesting we give up much and he may well be cut but he was a very high pick for a reason. Maybe like stocker whose been very good for us a change of club might be all he needs.

I saw Lohman play a game last year in the VFL where he looked like a star. Played forward and had big numbers and nailed some long range shots on goal. Looked like a gun.

Mathieson is too good for VFL and Robertson is behind so many now he'll never get a game. They got Fletcher and Ashcroft cheap last year and picked up Dunks. Already have a very good deep midfield and guys on the outside that can play on ball.

If I'm Robertson I'm looking for a new home. Lyon is old and too much like what we have but is too good to spend his last years playing VFL too.
There are numerous players in the system that are too good for VFL..problem is a lot of them aren’t AFL standard!

I'd be way more into picking up Dow than TDK.

Awkward beanpole who is only 1 draft year behind Tim English yet seems to have made nowhere near the same amount of strides in overcoming those issues. Maybe I'm missing something but I just don't see it, not every young tall becomes good.

Also, I'm more than happy with our current draft strike rate to want to go again with another 1st rounder.

100% we should absolutely NOT discard our 1st round pick.
Same goes for the 2RP unless theres another potential like Steele.

Lohmann is a funny one though as he's stuck behind Cameron and McCarthy. He's been consistently kicking goals in the 2s and then went to town on Coburg who are clearly the worst team this year. He could have value but is in a weird spot where if he comes to us he'd be competing for spots again with Gresh and Higgins.

I watched him play seniors last year and he was very good when he came in in a very good side. Looked like he'd easily slot into our list and be one of our good players. He'd be a step above guys like Stocker, Paton etc and can play inside and outside mid.

He was fantastic rotating on ball and won heaps of his footy contested, pretty sure once he got in he wasn't dropped again. Would have been in their bests in couple of them.

Pretty sure last year was his first season. You'd hope he'd have hardly scratched the surface of his potential. From the same draft as Nas, Windy and Owens no? He was a high pick and pretty sure he was meant to be a mid forward. If we could get him on ball as a rotation and move towards a DeGoey like impact.

massive * wit too

I'm not sure where you heard that. My mate's nephew is close friends with him. This kid is a fantastic guy, training to be a teacher playing VFL and country footy and he reckons that Caldwell is a great guy. Still hangs with his mates he made at Vic Country including O'Brien from Carlton and a few who didn't make the cut. Haven't heard anything to suggest that he's a dickhead.

He thought he was going to be a Saint and we cut off communication once we signed Crouch. It sounds like we might have been the unprofessional ones in that situation.

You know there are years clubs just purely focus on drafting kids. Not this year. Bookmark it. Take it to the bank. Do what you want. Our spine will be stronger.
ITKs have been talking about this for over a month and even thrown around some names
