Quite genius.

Four weeks left of the season with everything to play for, Membrey hasn’t had a chance to show the coaching group first hand what he’s capable of.

Someone leaks to Twomey the thought of Membrey being shopped around.

Watch him have a blinder of a month to show his worth and hopefully push us to a finals campaign.
Tim mentioned to one of the guys in our group last week that he is feeling the best he has all year!

Agreed, but maybe that's where we are at the moment. As others have stated guys like Membrey, Billings, Gresham etc. though for some are fan favourites, they just haven't/ and can't get the job done. We're not going to throw away a Steele, Sinclair, or Crouch. The next wave of kids are being developed...unfortunately (since many of them are able to play forward) it makes Membrey a tradable option.
It's unfortunate for him that he's been injured all year so as to prove his case...but it's a premiership business, and I'm tired of us being a version of either s*it or mediocre, which is the same thing but with not as much s*it thrown at it.
I’m a bit wary of off loading players in the leadership group, which Tim is in!!

With King said to be on 750k , Steele about the same , Crouch on 600k and Gresham lucky to be in the top 10 players in the team I fully expect him to be worth 450k - Ross and Billings had the same salary reduction.

If the pay him more than that - no way is he worth as much as what Crouch is getting paid.
If he goes the salary we save will hopefully go to secure our a needed good midfielder like Flanders.
Gresham would be on 600-700K..remember we had to overpay players to get to minimum salary cap

I like the idea of Hammer doing a 1 year apprenticeship at FB like Gehig did when he arrived but his pro-active movement and defensive forward presence is so valuable in our forward line and I'd say he'd be a great forward for us long-term.
Jack Hayes played as a key defender in his under 18 year representing SA

How can GWS pay monster contracts when under salary cap pressure without releasing some of that pressure.....maybe there is some truth to Whitfield.

Whilst Doogs is frustrating he is not the worst out there and would prefer him to Cordy and McKay. Have to be a great offer for me to be happy to lose him....frdp just don't see it happening.

Gresh makes more sense at Hawthorn they have to spend their salary cap somewhere...we should get a pick around 20.

The interesting watch will be the clubs like us that do not make the 8 and have to make similar list decisions to us....but maybe cut harder.....Geelong Dogs Essendon Richmond come to mind.

Could be a mind boggling trade period as clubs take a serious hard look at their lists and move players that aren't taking them to the promised land.

We have salary cap space so can bid for players and pay them more than say GCS and GWS, who have no salary cap and once a player says I want to go to a club then the trade gets done.

Can see us getting 3 established 3-4 year afl players and losing Gresh and maybe another (no idea who) and having a weaker hand in the draft. Unless we can do something monstrous pick swaps with the Suns which sounds great in theory but unlikely.

Our back line is okay the forwards are a work in progress and we all agree we need 2 or 3 more mids.mids.mids.

reckon we use our 1st on a key back.
O’Sullivan or Murphy.

Getting someone like Jack Silvagni makes Owens available midfield.
Find a half back with a good foot (Whitfield?) and sincs can have a preseason as a mid.

Whitfield turns 30 next year. Probably not the type of player we should be chasing.

It would be laughable if the first thing SOS did was bring a in his son
It would be comical.
But I was a fan before his dad got here.
He’s become a whipping boy at Carlton, maybe due to the strained relationship between his father and the club.
Plays a good contested game at half forward.

The rumours on him are gws want to dump his salary and might give away a pick ala Bowes to Geelong.
If we have the money by clearing out guys like gresh/Billings/skunk/Doogs and we gain a good draft pick and he helps us out for a few years it’s no loss.

Only making suggestions anyway.
Possibly Coffield can fill the role?

One thing I would be very wary of is bringing in mature aged recruits who have already tasted premiership glory.

We need players who retain that burning desire through to the end of their careers. Otherwise it can come across that they’re just topping up their retirement fund.

At least with players coming from Carlton we can be assured they have not been smothered with success.

Hopper and Taranto cleared a huge amount of cap space.

It sounds more likely that they'd let him go free than add to the deal.
