That's not really worth moving your high first rounder down 4 spots.

I think if we could somehow manage to get that pick 13 we've done extremely well. No chance after that that Essendon would also downgrade their pick.

If they don't pay Gresham more than he's worth he won't want to leave.
So they end up paying maybe $50K to $150K more than it would take to move him out the door each year.

Yes there's a risk he'll go to the Hawks but that will be weighed at the time.
I think the plan would be to get p4 and keep our current 1st, hence all the talk of salary dumps. If they can pull that off then well done on principle and take who you can get.

The good thing for us is that the Hawks have a very good midfield and Mc kerchief makes less sense than Duursma and Watson types who can add something a bit different to side with a pretty over-stacked midfield.

Band 2 compo will probably end up a pick in the mid 20s after all the academy and F/S selections are matched. It’s not really a good deal if you look at it.

My gut feel is Saints match band 2. I could be wrong but the coach seems keen to keep him. He’s a class player.

If Bombers want Gresham then they will need to pay up. All the stuff about calling out Saints bluff etc will probably lead to Saints doing that very thing.

In my experience, if you give someone an ultimatum, they usually end up doing the thing you don't want them to do, so it would be a risky strategy by Essendon do play that game

I’m agreeing with you and advising you to take a leaf out of my book and ignore most of what goes on in the media in the silly season.
The so called media journos are just like you and me - guessing - although to be fair I‘d bet the smart people on here know a lot more than most of them.

I think Ross Lyon made pretty clear where that negotiation postering is being leaked from and it’s not us.

Doesn’t mean there’s not some truth in it but the end wash up of the detail will probably be quite different.
