It sounds like the Gresham compo pick will be used at the draft table. We don’t have any intention of using it to trade for Liam Henry. We will hit the draft.

Fair enough too. Henry is OOC and hasn’t played my much footy. His trade may be linked to the Coffield trade.

I don't understand , Gresham would of known the ball park figure the Saints would give to him , the Bombers would have to clearly beat that if they nominated him.

Think Gresham's manager has ****ed him around a bit. Clearly misread what Gresham was worth. Obviously Essendon don't really rate him.

You are probably right. The further information provided by Misson seemed to clarify this.

At the end of the day Gresh is the biggest winner out of this. He leaves, it's because he gets offered more than what we're comfortable paying, he stays it's because we've paid him more than we would have without Essendon.

On the surface, yes. But we don’t know what we would have offered Gresh in the absence on a Bombers bid. It’s not inconceivable that our offer to Gresh might have been more than the Bombers and by matching we save a few quid.
Not likely though.

I actually hope we match and keep Gresh if we’re only going to get a 2nd round pick comp with the current Essendon offer, who knows it might motivate him if Essendon aren’t offering him much and refuse to trade for him.

Coaches need to replay his last game in that GWS final to him on repeat all summer and tell him that’s his standard now, if he lowers from that you’re dropped.

Gresham wanted more than we were prepared to pay him.
Therefore if they pay Gresham what he's chasing, we won't match.
The fact that its taking so long suggests they are trying to lowball Gresham.

So why would Gresham nominate Essendon as his club of preference? Presumably he knows what Essendon are offering and is happy with it. That’s why he has nominated them.

It easy to conclude that there is communication behind the scenes between the clubs.
