The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

_Maximus_12 just keeps reiterating exactly how I feel about this situation.

phantom13 i agree about the clean cut mids bullshit. I want guns who are trouble. I want amazing footballers.

But the cost v the path we are on scares the crap out of me. It’s like going to the casino and going all in on red.
If we could bring in Dow & Henry, with some additional first rounders this year (be that our own, and a couple from trades/FA comp) then we’ve started to build a pretty strong foundation with our existing youth and list to be able to take a risk like Oliver. The timing on this one just doesn’t fit.

For what it’s worth.

I’ve mentioned that the plan was next year for a free agent or a bigger deal and the draft was always the plan this year.

My personal opinion is that we stay the path.

If Oliver does get traded. It changes the draft landscape. We could benefit.

I would love to know if Ross thought we out performed/over performed our capability.

If his belief is that we are at par with what he has and he thinks we get better based solely off growth/player development.

That’s a pretty good argument for me to back us going all in.

We are in finals at the moment look to have the structure to go forward.

Our defiency is midfield. Plain and simple

Its pretty rare that a draft will become a star midfielder in the first 4 or so years.
This is true. Saints fans are impatient after a decade of wilderness and a taste of September.
We need a game breaker in the mids, I am just very wary about just throwing the strategy out the window.
As stav said if it doesn't work we have a big rebuild in front of us.

The difference is De Goey was a free agent, we didnt have to sell the farm to trade him in.

If Oliver wasnt up for trade Melbourne and his manager would be screaming from the roof tops today to quell the media.
Yep, hold the line. Our time will come when Dow and Jonas are no longer our big fish.

It does if we think philippou can have an Owens type year next year and Owens and nas can have a daicos type year next year.
I meant more that every club will be after him and we just don't have the assets or cache to pull it off, sorry its just a fact. We wont be in the conversation. Sydney, Essendon, Carlton or Geelong the obvious outcomes.

Ross has spoken about a slow build over years and the need to hit the draft, you cant just throw that out the window at the drop of a hat, would be very short sighted and stupid. We need to build properly and draft our stars it is the only way. Short cuts DO NOT WORK. How many times do we have to learn this lesson.

A few in the media have been alluding to their being issues with Oliver without actually going with the full stories for a while.

They seem to be happy to run with them now, probably because the Demons are happy to confirm them.

Not sure exactly what it is, but it's fairly obvious that is more than him just not quite getting his rehab right. You don't throw your best players with 7 years to run on a contract on the trade table otherwise.
Yep, it’s a difficult road back from this for player and club relationship … unless the whole point of not denying anything is the last chance “we’ll show you we mean business” / shock and awe type tactic.

The issues regarding Oliver were outlined on SEN.
Confirmed he got an infected foot from a home tatoo
Team mates unhappy with his 'lack.of professionalism' both preparation for football and lifestyle. Whatever lack of professionalism off field means.
Oliver issues with club doctors.
All alluding to 'significant off field issues'

Buyer beware.

The bolded is the difference here mate.

Im backing the actual experts to do their work, youre assuming you know better than them based off rumors.

Carry on but i dont think im better or more informed than anyone, least of all actual experts.
You've been champed - time to back off, dweeb.

Cooney and Cam Luke have their heads filled with rocks. Asking why we would get pick 13 as compensation for Gresham, completely ignoring the Shiel aspect. I'm losing braincells listening to these blokes
Listened to them for 5 minutes yesterday, turned off. Both Idiots.

He'd want to be confident that Van Es, Keeler, Hotton and to a lesser extend Mclennan and Heath can make the grade as high level AFL footballers.

Just a thought.
Clayton Oliver led Melbourne to two consecutive straight sets finals losses.

Not the superman everyone is building him up to be.
