Is a RFA end of next year, I would like to throw the war chest at him.
Draft Draper this year if available, gives us excellent speed with Peatling.
Add in Cumming, a bit of organic growth and I’m happy .
If we are going to try and put an absolute monster offer at a player next year, it simply has to be an ooc Finn Callaghan. Would be a superb addition to our side.

Dodson is more of a get involved around the ground type ruck than a pure ruck contest ruck , he’s pure ruck work needs work

He’s maybe like a taller Grundy
I think the "involved around the ground" ruckman is the contemporary ruck. It's the main reason I'm open to TT becoming a ruck. It won't happen because of the trend of big guys being forwards as a first choice. Darcy, King bros and Mac Andrew for example. That said, as I spoke of in my original post, Joe going into ruck was instrumental in Brisbane winning their prelim.

But if Dodson became a taller version of Grundy, what's not to love? Sign me up to that.

Cal Twomey is saying NM and WC are open to trading down.

Would we want to trade up from 2 or 3?
Are there any teams we wouldn't want to trade up to these picks?

I doubt it. They may struggle to split those picks too, think most clubs will be just as happy with a Travaglia as a Jagga. Maybe on the night if a club is in love with say Lalor and he doesn’t go to Richmond. Feel he’s the only one with enough x-factor to warrant trading up.

Maybe if Richmond has an absurd amount of picks, they may consider getting the control of pick 1 & 2 but feel the price for that will be much lower than it has been in the past.

I’ve only seen highlights but why would a club choose Draper over Smith?

I could understand us because being a SA boy but Smith seems cleaner and more skilful.
In the words of Jeremy Clarkson... "Speed and Power"

Draper does need to tidy up some aspects of his game, but we has such an appetite for training and hard work I've little doubt he will do that.

Smith looked quick in those highlights and I’d take skill and decision making over power. Smith will build up, I’m not confident someone at 18 who has had 10 years of football and lots of specialised training will improve that much.

Good call man. I think getting this years 3 (esp GWS pair) ins is important from a signalling perspective.we have attracted non SA boys against very stiff competition (6 others with Peatling). Get them releasing the normal PR propaganda during the year about loving the club and city etc and “best move they have made for their footy career” and no reason we don’t take this years strong trade momentum and roll it forward. GWS has so much talent, along with Suns, so a fertile hunting ground still. And easier to attract than VIC teams IMO

Time to keep bringing in good-elite players in FA and trading as we have enough youngsters from the draft.

Time to win now and am quietly confident we win a final next year after “doing a Horks” in 2025

Smith does have that over Draper, but it's not like Sid is a bad kick or makes bad decisions. His games at SANFL level this year were ridiculous.

Having said that, if Smith was to fall into our laps it would be tough to say no.

Depends how much people still want that "big bodied mid" which Smith is not.

Love Finn but he will be well and truly in contract by then, they are already clearing cap space
and move him from wing to mid this year as first rotation imo.
LDU, in his prime comes for free when we are hopefully playing finals, timing is perfect.

Split pick 4 😂

Obviously from this mornings Herald Sun.

Its amusing but some will take this as gospel and Giants fans will be demanding this

I love what we have done and like the projection of Peatling but we arent paying on projection - save that for the draft speculations.

His value is what it is now . I dont know what that may be but I do know its not a split pick 4

Not as quick, not as damaging and IMO not as hard at the contest. Better kick no doubt but for metres gained Draper has him by plenty.

You would also have to think Draper would almost certainly be a career Crow given he and his family are lifelong Crows supporters. Jagga Smith Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Metro history dictates you would be less certain of him being a career Crow.

That’s an interesting development. There had seemed to be a top 4-5 names often mentioned - FOS, Draper, Lalor, Smith and perhaps Langford (Smilie dropping) - so interesting they would be open to missing these. Makes sense for Kangas (need talls) but Weagles surprising.

Saints in an ideal spot to get 2/3 in that case and even perhaps Freo at a stretch. As long as Power don’t jump us and take Draper…

Bicks the recent rumours of top 3 being Lalor, FOS and Draper is close to a worse case scenario for us do you think? Are they your top 3?

And then this for Pies

WHY NOT: Would a future first open up a conversation with Port Adelaide about Ollie Lord? The young tall kicked four goals in a qualifying final in 2023 but he played just six times this year. You have to get creative to find a young key forward.

And Port Power

DRAFT PICKS: 39, 57
TARGETS: Jack Lukosius, Joe Richards
DEPARTING: Charlie Dixon (retired), Trent McKenzie (retired), Tom McCallum (delisted)
STILL WAITING: Travis Boak, Francis Evans, Kyle Marshall, Quinton Narkle, Tom Scully
HOW THE DEALS GET DONE: Gold Coast are happy for Lukosius to leave after he was dropped at the end of the season but will still look to recoup something for the former No. 2 pick. The Suns might want a first-round pick but the Power could get a deal done for a second, although their first pick is all the way back at No.39 so a future choice may be needed. Port Adelaide ran second for Harry Perryman, who chose Collingwood. Richards is unsigned so if he does choose the Power a deal shouldn’t be too hard to pull off. Most of the Power’s time over the next week-and-a-half will be taken up by Dan Houston talks.
TEAM NEEDS: If Dan Houston gets his wish and gets a move to a Melbourne club then there will be a big hole in the Power’s defence at halfback. The Power’s forward line could also do with some bolstering after a carousel of experimental forwards failed to provide any consistency.
WHY NOT GO AFTER: Expect the Power to go after smooth St Kilda defender Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera – who is out of contract at the end of next season – next year. But could a Houston departure speed this up in any way?

Smith is as good in traffic as anyone in the draft, clean and skilful as you say, with a good athletic base. Not overly handball-happy either (though his kicks tend to be more short and well-placed)

Draper has more straight-line speed and is more penetrating by foot (though hitting targets is more hit-or-miss), at this point he is more strongly built too

I’d be happy with either, but I have Draper slightly ahead for what we need (though the speed in midfield issue has been helped somewhat by acquiring Peatling)
