Given recent drafting I’ll say the later is likely

People overlook their drafting as they just churned out so many academy guns which is keeping them near the top, but their drafting outside of that in recent years has been interesting to say the least. Were going to delist their first round pick from 2 years ago before North took him for free in a trade. Sheldrick always talked up by their supporter base but is rarely seen at AFL level; Matt Ling another who didn’t last long as a first round pick.

Their last 4 years of early drafting is so much worse than anything Hamish has done and I’m not a big Hamish fan

Why would drafting a ruck help with that?

It would be four years til they could contribute much, and chances are they won't be much good and you'd be stuffed.
