Strong chance North will.

I agree, the top 4 mids are pretty even and guns, which is why I was asking how keen you think Crows are on Draper.
I doubt we are keen to move up the draft order given the evenness.

There is a good chance Draper is available with our pick & if not there will be a gun available.

How keen do you reckon the Crows are on Draper? He seems to be the player that is being rumoured to be North's first choice at pick 2. I wonder if there may be an offer from Crows to move up to 2. If so what do you reckon that may look like?
There won't be an offer.

The top five are all so even, it's foolish giving up draft capital just to move around in the top four.

Lol if it's so even, why do we only have 3 players on the poll on this thread? Why can't I pick FOS or Lalor?

Are you two representatives of the club? The club has no interest in trading up? Seems an odd strategy to just be happy with whatever player falls to you. Agressive drafting strategy...

I have no idea about the poll.

There should be five choices, realistically.

Considering at least four of them are close to impossible to split, choosing to spend more draft capital to get a player that's not obviously better than what you'd get for free just sounds dumb.

Keen enough that if you take him we'll be looking to get him in a couple of years. Guys a huge crows fan

Higher ceiling than JHF …. Pleaaaaaaaaase

Sorry but no way , not in anyway a better prospect than JHF who can do way more including win one on ones deep forward

Can completely understand the comments on character , reckon that’s why Richmond are keen on him
Hard not to feel theabove is correct but ORR was passing on direct information by a South coach who had seemingly coached both. People can have different views but that’s pretty decent first hand feedback from people that really count so think deserves respect. Then I see the better stats by Draper in SANFL

That said, have been saying all year JHf will win a Brownlow

You really are bored aren't you

How about the Suns game when he gave away 4 unnecessary free kicks, had 9 disposals, including 7 clangers.

Certainly multiple examples in just that game when he completely lost it when things weren't going his way. Don't tell me that doesn't go to his temperament.

Was at that game with Power fans and they were disgusted by JHF behaviour on multiple occasions. Many unprofessional acts and stupid frees given away. You don’t see that often

That said, can’t remember too many other games JHF has melted down and been a net liability.

He’s obviously maturing, there were numerous occasions at north where he looked disinterested after things didn’t go his way.

Agreed - esp F1. That’s likely the core component of any potential NWM homecoming trade

Petulant and childish, always worry about players who's effort is conditional on things being in their favour. Vastly improved from where he was but still drifts in and out of games. Let's hope his attitude doesn't keep improving, given he's virtually unstoppable when he's on.

If he was 22 and still doing it you’d be worried for sure, clearly he wasn’t enjoying life either in Melbourne as well as being at the Roos.
That’s the worry for us .

AFL Draft 2024: Experts reveal their final top 30 consensus rankings; Who goes No. 1?

The countdown to the 2024 AFL national draft is on, with just weeks to go before a new crop of young players get to live their football dreams.
Our draft experts, Chris Cavanagh and Dan Batten, watched a stack of under-18 games this year and have come up with their own lists of top-30 rankings – with a few slight differences.
Together, the two lists make up our final AFL DraftConsensus Rankings for 2024.
Brisbane Lions father-son prospect Levi Ashcroft was the unanimous selection at No.1, but the rest of the top-five shook out a little bit differently.

Top 10

Sid Draper (6): The South Australian battled injury this year, but looks ready to go at the next level if he can get his body right. He had some super performances for South Adelaide in the second half of the SANFL season, with his speed, power and cleanliness standing out.

Dan says (3): Do yourself a favour and watch his goal against Port Adelaide in the SANFL. His blistering speed is Chad Warner-esque and gives him a big point-of-difference compared to the other midfielders in the pool.

Langford

Chris says (5): The longer the season wore on, the more Langford’s stocks rose. There are other strong onball extractors in this year’s draft class, but the Stingrays co-captain sets himself apart with his ability to take marks and kick goals pushing forward.

Dan says (5): Has put concerns over his speed to bed with dominant form as a goalkicking midfielder with size who can take a grab

Lalor

Chris says (3): We didn’t see as much of this powerful midfielder-forward as we would have liked this year, but much of what we did see was spellbinding. Lalor looks up to Jordan De Goey and you can definitely see a bit of the Magpies star when watching him.

Dan says (6): There remains a bit of guesswork given injury got in his way this year. But his potential as a Dusty prototype is as high as any player in this year’s draft class.

Smith

Chris (4): It was hard not to be impressed by Smith this year. He was Mr Consistent, including in three VFL games for Richmond. Other players might have more size and power, but Smith is as bankable as anyone in this year’s draft class.

Dan says (2): There is not much separating Smith from the other top-end midfielders but I feel he is the most bankable. Prolific, incredibly agile and a great decision-maker.

FOS

Chris says (2): He was more of a ‘moments’ player than a consistent performer due to injuries this year, but there’s no doubt O’Sullivan has all the traits to be an AFL star. He’s a dynamic, modern-day midfielder-forward with little to knock.

Dan says (4): His final game of 2024 epitomised his high-impact per possession game: 20 disposals, two goals and 154 SuperCoach points. Would likely be higher in my personal rankings if not for an injury interrupted draft year.

If I’m doing a draft of port and crows players to pick a side he’s my first pick ( him and butters very close )

Then Rankine , Dawson

Then Rankine , Dawson
If both hit their peak potential and injury plays no part, I see Rankine as an Andy McLeod clone in almost every way - extreme poise, ability to hit a contest at full tilt and one hand grab and burst away, complete freak around goal and sublime skill and ability to read the play

JHF if he hits his peak, I still think he is like a cross between Dangerfield and Nathan Buckley - absolute bull, power, tackles hard and has the ability to go forward and be very dangerous and hit the scoreboard. He also has a pretty good kick on him (unlike Dangerfield but more like Buckley).

Who would i prefer - I am biased, I'll take a peak Rankine but its close.

Good write up on Langford , for people who don’t think he’s much good he was most impactful midfielder at national champs level

Led the champs with 2 score assists per game and 7.5 score involvements , and without having stats for it no other midfielder would have had his metres gained

I’ve got him 6th ranked but it’s very close and won’t be upset if we end up with him
