Pick 10 - Xavier Lindsay

Pretty simply the highest on my board remaining, with Lindsay's existing versatility and skill set I think the Suns would value Lindsay, given he's got scope as a defender, winger or rover

Pick 9 - Fremantle - Luke Trainor (Sandringham Dragons)

Pretty simple one for me here, too good to let go, especially in a year where midfielders dominate. Almost thought I might jag Smillie somehow, but Trainor was the other dream scenario. Given Fremantle's brilliant first round picks, we can afford to go best available with this selection.

And yes, it is not lost on me that this is Collingwood's pick so we would have been able to pick up a key defender in this (very) hypothetical scenario lol.

I apologise in advance for the Freo fans response when they read this

Pick 11 - Fremantle - Murphy Reid (Sandringham Dragons)

Now to add some class and more of a need for the Dockers. Like what he’s been able to produce and is firmly in the mix for a Top 10 spot.

Nah all good I knew he the type you were after but considering your hand and the two who I had next up (one of which I knew you’d get) it seemed silly not to go for a best available especially when a tall in a mid-heavy draft.

This was almost my pick for the Saints, kid is a gun.

Pick 12 - Melbourne
Christian Moraes
Eastern Ranges

I wanted Murphy Reid here and ironically was choosing between Moraes, Bo Allan and Matt Whitlock when he was gone, so interesting that they were the next two off the board.

I was super high on Moraes going into the year but like others, he's drifted down my rankings over the last month or so. I think there's a fair bit of untapped potential with this kid and if he can improve his contested footy, I think his ceiling is sky-high.

For Melbourne, Moraes could play early across half forward or in a wing rotation. Alternatively he could spend some time in the VFL developing his work inside the contest. If he develops as anticipated, Moraes could be a star inside/outside mid that hits the scoreboard, while also possessing the capability to go forward and be a match winner inside 50.

Who do they want?
Trainor could be Matthew Scarlett and it would be "anyone but Trainor"

You know how it is with BF, give me list needs or give me nothing, though I get the fun of these is comparing rankings as much as anything.

Considering you got Reid and someone like Berry will be around, you're filling needs and have the best key defender in this draft class. He reminds me of Lever in many ways.

Pick 13 - GWS - Matt Whitlock - Murray Bushrangers

199cm - Key Position Utility

GWS has a pretty complete list, and Matt provides flexability and impact on both ends of the footy as a key position player with excellent mobility and marking prowess. He's a player who can stick around the VFL and develop where the Giants need him to who could prove to be an absolute gun.

Might do more of a writeup later

eDPS for Essendon

Pick 14 - Essendon - Bo Allan - Peel Thunder

191cm - Inside Midfielder/Half Back

A really tough choice between two players but have gone with the player I feel has the better chance of being the best player from the draft and that’s Bo Allan. Allan is a brute of a player and his mix of size and power is something the Essendon midfield lacks when Stringer isn’t in there. Allan can have multiple players hanging off him and still get a clean possession away and is highly suited to the modern games with his size and ability to power through congestion but also push on the spread hard which would also suit Essendon’s want to play a run and gun game from half back and wing. He has a great mix of attack and defense which is another trait that should translate well to how Brad Scott wants Essendon to play.

His kicking can sometimes end up a tad short when kicking under pressure but more often that not can hit his targets around the ground. If he was a tad more polished by foot he would be hard to ignore in the Pick 1 conversation.

Joe Berry was very much in consideration as a potential gun small forward which Essendon desperately need, with the change of rules announced today Kako should be all but confirmed for Essendon although they will need to do a bit of trading in order to not only get him with more picks but also potentially trade up to get another player in before him as he is right on the cusp of this range.

Yeah but Draper is in that sweet spot of unrealised potential where he's currently a lock to win 5 AA jackets until proven otherwise then we have Davies and Murphy (drafted last year) sitting at Peel and it's just not going to be a thing. Again, Trainor looks incredible but the pick wouldn't be popular, not that it means anything.

Though I am realising just how awesome this haul is, particularly in this draft. Reid, Trainor and two more high picks is nutty. Going to be a fun off season whatever we do.

Pick 15 - Fremantle - Joe Berry (Murray Bushrangers)

Thanks to eDPS for making the choice easy for me as Bo Allan could have come under consideration had he taken Berry, but this fits a need for the Dockers. Really smart forward, many regard as the best small forward in the draft, good country kid and will fit in well.

You've won the draft, wrap it up.

Pick 16 Geelong - Harvey Langford 190cm 85kg

I figured I'd roll with best available here and the cats will need to keep replacing their mids over the coming yearsand Langford will fill that big body need especiallywith Clark and Bruhn being smallerin frame. If Stevens comeson combined with Langford, they will have their size inside sorted already.

Fresh off a Larke medal (shared with Lombard) from a super championships, Langford has no doubt risen up draft boards recently. I love big bodied mids and he's reallymade his mark as the season progresses. He uses his height to great effect with an ability to rest forward and kick goals with good overhead making. Inside the contest he is excellent at reading the play, using strong burst to get into position to win clearance and receive if need be. Kicking is sound, can be mixed but has a good amount of penetration and also can lay a solid tackle. He reminds me of a forward marking version of Jacob Hopper.

I expect him to develop into quite a bull with a solid build at AFL level and would perfectly compliment the young talent the cats already have, albeit smaller bodies.

Fantastic. Draper, Davies and Murphy will have more company at Peel waiting until Pearce retires. After all MacDonald only has a year on his contract.

Pfffft. A need you say? Could've grabbed Whitlock!

Pick 17 - Carlton - Hamish Davis - 190cm Utility

This kid in the coming months I feel will move up many draft boards. Chatting to a few local watchers out here in WA and this kid is sparking some interest. He is an elite runner and his attributes were not completely shown in the WA state side. His output is increasing and he can kick a goal and play midfield minutes.
There were reports Carlton were sniffing around Hayward and this guy has those potential qualities. He should complement the likes of Harry and Charlie, a replacement for JSOS/Martin/Williams moving forward.
Strong overhead and on the lead and impacts the scoreboard often.

Hoping for him at our 2nd pick. Had a feeling that might be too hopeful though.
