Some players seriously have no self awaremess that they are done. Should have retired at the end of 2022. The club shouldn't play him as number 1 he's cooked and number 2 they have a duty of care to a players eyesight and the club is potentially opening itself to litigation if he loses his eyesight after another injury.

How does wearing goggles help protect something at the back of your eye? Its not like people were poking their finger through his eye and scratching the retina off the back were they?

Anyone explain this further?
Not an eye expert at all, but I gather a direct blow to the eyeball can transmit pressure to the back of the eye, causing a retinal tear which can then lead to detachment. Wearing goggles spreads the pressure, from a finger jab say, away from the eyeball to the bones of the eye socket instead.
