Yes mate. I’m aware they want more.

Which is likely were 8 comes into play.

My issue is if that midfield talent doesn’t land at 7. We are unfortunately in a very odd place.

The momentum has very much been that a mid gets through. There was some brakes placed onto that in the last 24 hours.
I guess it really depends on north taking Tauru at #2 as to whether a mid slides!

And there is a world where none of those 6 make it through to 7.

Hence having Tauru there.

North are no guarantee to select this kid at pick 2.
Do you believe we would take Tauru if none of the 6 made it through to 7?

We seem to be assuming we would but is there are a possibility we would split both 7 & 8?

It’s all conjecture..don’t stress!
Ha ha - I can assure you I'm not stressing about who we end up selecting in the draft.

I've got nothing to do with the outcome so why fuss about it. Like most on here I'm just filling in time till the pre-season starts.

But I've been pretty consistent all the way along that in my opinion there seems to be more than enough talent in the 12 to 20 range for us to split Pick 8 because as far as I can see, what we get collectively from say 15 & 16 will be a better outcome for the club than Pick 8 as a standalone.

The toy throwers are one of the highlights of the morning after the draft! The wobblies thrown by many after the selection of Nas was amusing to say the least (And I was absolutely in the 'take Hobbs' group).

Anyway, we all agree that we need a bonafide game changing mid... but we need a few things to go our way for that to happen.

If the worst case happens & the dumb arse tin rattlers of Arden St take another mid than we take the Barks/Rooey clone & hope like hell that one of the mids available at our later picks is a jet.
That game changer mid could be Bo Allan!
You just never know!!

There’s a lot of talk about the top bracket mids, however who’s to say the likes of Allen, Smillie, Reid, Travaglia & Lindsay won’t be terrific AFL players

It’s why those ‘Redoing The Draft’ from previous years threads are popular on social
media.

We don’t know how this year’s intake will look 5 years down the track, however if history is any guide the first 6 taken won’t all be considered amongst the best 6 when it’s reassessed.

So I’m not sweating too much about whether the ‘top 6 mids’ are all gone by our first pick.

Can this bloody draft just happen already! This is worse than the trade period circus.

Yes they did get out manoeuvred. Our interest for #3 was reported by Ryan Daniel’s.

Our interest in 9 was reported by sen.

We got neither.

Carlton & Melb have certainly given up a Kings Ransom for doing so. They're taking a massive risk on one young player.

The players have forgotten about round 23.
The Bloos fans have forgotten about round 23.
The “cultcha” has forgotten about round 23.

Our club will be sorely aware of round 23 if we miss out on all elite mids. Especially in the context of next year’s heavily compromised draft and the imminent arrival of Tasmania.

I don’t care how you try to spin it. Promoting an acute sugar hit over core list requirements for the next decade is a borderline room temperature IQ take.
i think you need to replace the 23 with 24

this is a good question

personally im taking him and if we dont receive a gift offer from termites or giants for 8,then im taking reid with 8 to go with him

Tom Gross in the 30-40 range! If we only get one mid from the first round, he's a very good fallback option as a contested ball-winner who can also play forward

Dattoli seeing himself as a Lachie Neale type midfielder late in the first round too (15&16?)

Yeah but that's the problem with Tauru - what position are you drafting him for?

Pick 7/8 for a swing man is way to high.

Possibly 3/4 years before he finds his real role.
All for taking the best mid available with one of our picks but if Tauru is there we should nab him

Rare athletic hybrid profile - elite speed and endurance, won the running vertical jump at the combine, great hands and an ability to kick goals. Elite traits which translate at the highest level.

Everyone is focused on the mids in this draft when the star might just be a KP type.

He's the best available talent IMHO
