My take of a summary of Twomey's latest. I'm using the actual draft positions and ignoring Ashcroft going to Lions. So when i say pick 7 its actually going to be pick 8 but same same.

O'Sullivan 1-5
Langford 1-6 probably not 7.
Lalor 1-5, 6 Unlikely
Smith probably 2-6 outside chance at 1 or 7.
Draper 3-7
Tauru 2 - teens. A lot hinges on whether North want him there.

Smillie 7-11
Armstrong 8-13
Reid 8-17
Allan 7- Mid teens.
Travaglia 8-15

So if the Norfs pick Tauru , we're looking at one of :
Smillie, Smith ( but probably not ), or Draper ( but probably not ).

If they don't get Tauru, we get two of
Tauru, Reid , Allan, Travaglia.

Twomey doesn't really give a top 6 if Tauru doesn't go to North.
Look I’ve listened. I had agents and recruiters say the exact same thing a few days ago to the room I was in.

But I’m just not a believer that Draper gets past picks 2-5.

Strategy for pick 8 should be

1. Pick 7 best available mid (regardless of Tauru is there or not)
2. Pick 8 bid on Lombard. Fold Coast parasites will match which gives us more time to work on a pick split, especially if Tauru is still on the board.
3. Split with GWS or take Tauru

All for taking the best mid available with one of our picks but if Tauru is there we should nab him

Rare athletic hybrid profile - elite speed and endurance, won the running vertical jump at the combine, great hands and an ability to kick goals. Elite traits which translate at the highest level.

Everyone is focused on the mids in this draft when the star might just be a KP type.

He's the best available talent IMHO

Tauru is one of those that could be absolutely elite but buying on potential. Trainor is probably the better player now but the concussion issues have dropped him right back. I'm 100% on taking the best available player regardless of size though and if they believe that Tauru is that then go for it.

Is it possible that if Draper gets to us we take him and then split pick 8, and if he doesn't get to us, we take whoever slides (Langford etc) and then take Allan with 8? The whispers seem to lead to the conclusion that we want one fast/explosive exit from stoppage type mid with one pick and then the best of what's available with the other (even if that's a split pick).

Norf unlikely to bite at the Adelaide trade makes me think they will target a mid since they would still be guaranteed Tauru at pick 4

Therefore, the order could look something like this:

1. Lalor
2. FOS
3. Draper
4. Langford
5. Jagga
6. Smillie
7. Tauru
8. Allan/Reid

ffs

Would be worried to an extent if we took Draper at 7 with a back, then split the pick and take Trainor (concusson) and Hotton (acl) :D .
But seriously Draper and Trainor are seriously good but it would be high risk and return.

Agree'd it seems unlikely.
If North take Tauru , it seems likely we get Smillie.

If they don't take Tauru, we may get a favourable deal to do a live trade with someone who wants him.

If the offer is compelling enough I’m confident pick 8 will be split!
GWS & Richmond both have the draft collateral to come hard on draft night
Fact is, its a moveable feast.
Not one person anywhere can predict with certainty exactly who'll go where in the top 7.

Places us in a very good position.
Once we have #7 in the bag we will know whether we want #8 or not depending who's left.
I like the idea of having 3 bites of the cherry unless 8 is an absolute slider.

Suggest we all have a glass (or 2) of wine or tranquilliser on the night, because this is very definitely going to be a last minute decision .

I wouldn't worry about that yet... still a week to go so Norf will undoubtedly flip flop a few more times before its game time.

How's this from him. Max Gawn special. Haven't had a Redleg in the side since Cam Panther Shenton I don't think.

Well with this, and the medical for the guy from Freo, at least the club are going about their business finding another ruck.

Agree. Not ideal but what can you do.

Atleast we got the four points in round 24 ay 🍻

I think we draft at 7 and 8 gets split.

I’m actually of the belief that there is very little chance we hold 8.

And here is the doomsday scenario.

All nice to have players left not a must have.

so saints giants tigers pick swaps

just had my first feed for 28 hours, singapore airport about 4.30am local time yesterday to pattaya soi buakhao 7.30am local time today & over the big english breakfast started thinking about it,keeping it simple by keeping the same number of picks for all & taking my red white and black cap off temporarily in the interest of getting it done for all 3 teams

saints give 8 32 f1(8 we have to,32 i want to,makes me nervous re cole,f1 is expendable according to most)
giants give 15 16 21
tigers give 10 then 2 of 18 20 23(keep the prized 24)

saints get 15 16 20(4 first round draft picks in this draft vs 2)
giants get 10 18/23 32(little concerned here,do they do it?is 10 enough to get their mystery man for certain?they cant have 8 in this 3 way)
tigers get 8 21 f1(get ahead of melbourne, diversify with a pick for next year)

Thinking, why bother matching for Ashcroft, Kako, Lombard etc, well it brings our later picks in to cover the matching of Cole and The Hoff.
Wouldn't be surprised to see us match Kako at 7, then Lombard at 8, so as to maximise our later picks coming in for more points.

Absolute TANK at 108kg, and a great age for big fellas at 26, but 198cm is short for a genuine ruck at AFL level, and I’ve been a long-term fan (go ahead and search if you feel so inclined).

Still… he was faced with 200cm-plus rucks at SANFL level and still dominated;

Averaged 20 possessions, 4 tackles, and a whopping 41.5 hitouts and 10 clearances per game.

Diaposal efficiency was a woeful 40% though, which is a concern, and only averaged 2 marks per game.

Gives us more insurance though, which can never been an entirely bad thing.

The thing that is starting to become clear is that…

If North want Tauru they can get him all the way down to 7.

So if he was the pick, why wouldn’t you take 2xF3s off Adelaide to slide back?
