Strategy for pick 8 should be

1. Pick 7 best available mid (regardless of Tauru is there or not)
2. Pick 8 bid on Lombard. Fold Coast parasites will match which gives us more time to work on a pick split, especially if Tauru is still on the board.
3. Split with GWS or take Tauru
I have absolutely zero doubt that SOS will bid on both Lombard and Kako because 1) its his MO and 2) it will buy us time for wheeling and dealing pick 8

Would be worried to an extent if we took Draper at 7 with a back, then split the pick and take Trainor (concusson) and Hotton (acl) :D .
But seriously Draper and Trainor are seriously good but it would be high risk and return.

Actually that would end up a pretty outstanding haul if you got that done. Surely you get a couple of guns out of it. I love a bargain bin. Trainor could end up one of the best forwards in the league IMO. His pedigree is elite and his skills are insane. Same with Hotton. Draper fit a need as a dynamic inside mid with pace.

Got a couple in here. Trainor and Ashcroft shooting out at around 11.30. Trainor's skills are elite.

The thing that is starting to become clear is that…

If North want Tauru they can get him all the way down to 7.

So if he was the pick, why wouldn’t you take 2xF3s off Adelaide to slide back?
One thing is for sure is that with such an even top end all the clubs are leaking like sieves to their media mouthpieces.

*Roos not trading down.

*Rich not trading up

*Melb don't want Tauru

*Saints are enamored with Armstrong

*Dees don't want a tall at all

*Roos happy to go with a mid

And they'll be plenty more of those in the next 7 days. All designed to get another club to bite so that the real target sneaks through.

Re: Norf & sliding from 2 to 7... it's a big risk for them just for a couple of 3rd rounders. Especially with Melbourne & Richmond with picks just in front of that.

No one trusts anyone!

Harry Boyd plays a bit like Tom Campbell but perhaps a little more effective in hitouts to advantage. Is a big unit and uses his body well, he obviously had an outstanding year winning the Magarey.

Thinking, why bother matching for Ashcroft, Kako, Lombard etc, well it brings our later picks in to cover the matching of Cole and The Hoff.
Wouldn't be surprised to see us match Kako at 7, then Lombard at 8, so as to maximise our later picks coming in for more points.

SOS and Dalrymple both notorious matchers at their last clubs. It wouldn't be a surprise.

First season went back to Adelaide in the bye round and told people at the club he wasn’t coming back. Thankfully got talked around.
He’s a lot more settled now but imo it’s a matter of when, not if, he goes back to play in SA.
Get him a hot 🔥 Melbourne wag ffs.

So you would be unhappy with Tauru and Allen/Reid?

FMD
Considering at points over the past fortnight Smillie, Langford, Draper, Jagga have all looked to be a chance to get to 7...yes its fair to be unhappy about that duo especially since one less goal in round 24 would've meant we got 2 of those guys instead of potentially zero

Still lots to play out though, too early to sook :sob:

The panel think it wouldn’t be a surprise if Richmond go early on players from p10 or 11.

Whitlock mentioned.

Richmond need a couple of quality KPFs. Lafau looks good but think he's already over 25 and injury prone. Otherwise it's Lynch, Kosi or send a back-man up.

Will go back to the previous convo had on here when everyone was so disappointed with NWM over Hobbs.

Disappointed in two top ten players who hasn't even put on a boot for the club? I find the whole concept ludicrous considering we wont know their potential for a few years.

This surety on who will be a top player and who wont is quite frankly ridiculous. Development of a player is not linear.

Maybe we should have lost every game this season and got pick one.

People seem to like losing on the assumption a player in the future will make the team and culture better.

The trade I'd be trying to get done if I was trading out pick 8 would be this one with GWS.

Out: 8, 32, F1 (StK)
In: 15, 16, 21, F1 (GWS).

I noticed that GWS have Adelaide's second rounder again this year, I wonder if that's of interest to us instead of the GWS F1 to get the deal over the line?

1 week out. Time for another crack at it.

#1 - Richmond - Lalor
Crows trade #4 + change for pick #2
#2 - Adelaide - Draper
#3 - Carlton - FOS
#4 - North - Tauru
#5 - Melbourne - Smillie
#6 - Richmond - Langford
#7 - St Kilda - Smith
Richmond trade #10 + #11 for #8 + StK F1st
#8 - Richmond - Armstrong
#9 - Melbourne - Reid
#9 - St Kilda - Allan
#10 - St Kilda - Trainor

Off-season moves:

Out (9):
Ross
Hayes
Battle
Membrey
Allison
Paton
Bonner
Campbell
Hotton

In (9):
Macrae
Carroll
Smith
Allan
Trainor
Pick 32 - Grab a ruck option here
Cole
Hoffman
Peckett

Think I've done that right?
I definitely wouldn’t do that trade. It’s too fair to Richmond.
Leave out the F1.

I know you haven't been banging on about it, but maybe we should have lost every game this season and got pick one.

There's certainly two sides to it - ultimately I think either side is a fair opinion

Another case of the ifs and buts of supporting a football club. Will continue to pour our souls into supporting them and backing their decision making no matter what

I re-read parts of that draft thread last night. I was impressed at your response to the selection I must admit, around page 212 or so.

I must have stopped posting by then as I expected to see some melts from me. I definitely remember my thoughts were we were fools for not grabbing either Hobbs, Sinn or Chesser at the time.

I did have a giggle when I read StCicatriz posting a lot about Erasmus, got to love that WA bubble 🤪

To be fair to Hobbs he just landed at a club that has too many inside mids and he's not really got a second position that he can fall back on. They are playing him as a forward which isn't doing anyone any favours. Caldwell stepping up has pushed him out. Same with Ward at the Hawks. You can only play so many inside one position types.

Erasmus looks like he might be about to break out. His WAFL form looks incredible. He's unlucky to not be in their best 22.

If we manage to get 15+16 for pick 8, surely we offer 7+16 to North for pick 2.
It would be a more attractive offer than Richmonds 6+18 as the tigers/demons would surely go for one of the top 7 mids ahead of a KPP
That's a good plan but unfortunately any pick swap involving #8 will most likely be after we've made our selection at #7.

The trade will come when we are on the clock. So it’s not an option.

No, north would be sliding from 2 to 4 for 2xthird rounders

I would happily hand over 7+F1 for 2+F2
