When was the last true midfield we drafted in the first round?

2023: Wilson - Winger
2022: Philippou - Flanker
2021: NWM - Flanker
2020: McLeod-Allison - Never heard of her
2019: N/A
2018: King - Key Forward
2017: Clark - Does he count? Coffield - Flanker
2016: N/A
2015: Gresham - Flanker
2014: McCartin - Key Forward Goddard - Key Defender
2013: Billings - Flanker Luke Dunstan - Finally

Am I losing my mind? Haven't we been shithouse for over a decade now? How have we spent a decades worth of first round draft picks to have a midfield consisting of Luke Dunstan, Hunter Clark, Jade Gresham and Jack Billings.

Considering his phantom didn't involve any pick trades, I'm leaning towards staying calm.

Having said that, Tauru, Trainor and Reid/Lindsay could be a great example of making best of a bad situation.

all I know is that without any genuine mids.

Don’t trade our f1

Now I know why Misson suggested the club might trade out both picks #7 & #8. See what clubs are interested in either pick and trade both out for later picks or even early F1 picks.

At worst we take Murphy Reid and Xavier Lindsay or Bo Allan at picks 7 & 8.

But what a flipping cluster the club have caused, hopefully they can recover.

Mission's "We'll take the best two available players, and we hope they are mids" statement almost bears out Cals thoughts

Its like the Club have decided that its unlikely that those elite mids will fall to us, and as the next pure mid is a fair way down the order....in his opinion the next two best PLAYERS are T & T. No indication of us splitting 8 just to get a lower-ranked mid

Of course Mission could be playing Poker

As good as Travaglia looks as a prospect, we would be insane to take him given how stacked we are for flankers. I have a feeling this may scare us into making a big play for North’s Pick 2. Could be wrong. Might just be wishful thinking given how much we desperately need elite mids. Will be very interested in Twomey’s late mail tomorrow

If this plays out, it’ll make me even more frustrated how pathetic both the Gold Coast and Melbourne were to totally fall apart in the last 5 rounds to fall below us.

I will now channel my saltiness into hoping some of the teams below us end up with a total bust.

We need to keep the F1. Really can't afford to give it up.
Especially if our touted 2 top 10 picks won't actually net us a mid.
Fixture isn't kind and if it all goes pear shaped i don't like the idea of giving away a too 5 pick for little in return.
