No we’re not; we’ve got mids.

We’re desperate for elite mids. If there’s none left at our picks but there are elite non-mids available, then we should at least consider them.

We need quality not quantity.

What genuine top end midfielders do we have?

Dont tell me Phillipou who is a forward first and learning craft as a mid.

Don’t mention Owens who is clearly a forward.

Windy looks a likely AFL type. Not yet shown he is an AFL level midfielder unfortunately

Nas is a half back.

Wilson is a winger/flanker

Where in my post did I say we had genuine top end midfielders?

My point is that we don’t have genuine top end midfielders and that we need genuine top end midfielders, not just midfielders

i agree with this.

Pou is more a utility. the hope is he can spend some time in there but he's far from an elite mid.

Owens agree. fwd mid.

Windy looks like he can be a tagger/stopper who can win his own ball but he's not an elite mid.

Nas can transition to the wing. otherwise he's a HBF and a very good one.

Wilson is a winger.

we have no one who's going to be the elite mid to drive this side fwd. there's no lachie neale here that you can build around.

Anyone else feeling completely burnt out? Like, so exhausted from all of this draft stuff that you are too over it to even give the slightest melt?
Yeah I was thinking that this morning....like how much energy can you burn over something you have zero control over?
Mind you we are Saints supporters, so a lifetime of misplaced focus is our birthright.

I’m trying to make this shit sandwich better.

Other than that, move 7 up using our F1.

Trade 8 down for multiple firsts.

honestly, i'd rather have one top end pick than the two we have. that would be our best play, but i think if this was a possibility it already would have happened. i think it's unlikely the order changes on picks 1-7, purely because every club is very happy with where they sit, except us.

getting another club to trade out of this draft for a F1 is going to be very hard to do. they all seems to have a hard on for it.

so the other option is to trade out of this draft. not ideal. trade out say pick 8 for a F1 and some change. i don't like it, but i hate where it currently sits. i'm hoping we can bet on the right clubs F1, i'm not across next years crop though.

Yep. Higgins’ goal not worth the price
Well actually I blame Geelong for losing to us.
Seriously. All this tossing the toys out the cot over Higgins’ goal.
🙄

Agreed. The only thing that makes sense is one of North, Dees, and Tiges take advantage of our desperate need for a mid and make us give overs for their top 6 pick, so they can get a sweetener along with tauru. whether its both 7+8, maybe they try to force future 1st as well? Maybe we get lucky and it costs one of the picks and a future first?

If Rawlings or SOS say anything to Twomey directly or otherwise, it will be an extension of their poker game.

SS: "We know you want Tauru and an extra pick, if you give us 2 we'll let you drop down to 8 and give give you 32 or our future first. Otherwise we'll just grab Tauru ourselves and grab a second tier mid at 8, we don't see the top tier being different enough."

BR: "We know you want one of the elite mids, we'll let you have 2 for picks 7 and 8, maybe we'll throw in a future second. Otherwise we'll just pick the best mid at 2, we don't care about getting another pick."

If I had to guess, I'd say we look to trade our 8 for a couple of teens and package one of them with 7 for 2 and F1 or F2. A compromise or we come to terms with picking Tauru and a second tier mid. I'm OK with either I suppose. I'm tempted to wait it out and see if Rawlings blinks and just takes Tauru at 2.
I don’t understand why North would want to sit on pick 2 and draft another mid. How will it help them? They have very few talls as it is.

Better for them to dilute the pick and take an extra first rounder which might help them deliver them the taller players they need.

Your suggestion of splitting 8 for a couple of later first round picks makes sense. Keep the earlier one and give them the other as well as pick 7 in exchange for pick 2.

Assuming there is a club that wants to facilitate the split. It’s no certainty that is the case. But as long as we try.

Maybe the above will happen. Who knows. But it will need to happen as soon as Tigers are on the clock for pick 1.

Otherwise we take best available at picks 7 & 8. We can’t trade without a trading partner. It is what it is.

Pretty sure the coach wants mids. Don’t think that’s a secret. We have 2 top 10 picks in the strongest draft in years, full of mids. No guarantee any of this group will be elite. Very even. Well documented. Spin it how you want.

They're a lot more accommodating on the Tigers board.

Lighten up it's been a long 7 weeks of draft talk.

We hope there’s a couple of mids at that time, but we’re looking at taking the best players at (pick) seven and eight.

“We’re going to take the two best players at seven and eight, and if they’re mids we’ll be pretty pleased.”

😢 They see Travaglia as a mid don’t they

Not necessarily. They see him as a person

His disposal is far too rushed to be anywhere near midfield quality. It's Nathan Wright all over again.

The ineptitude will be on the saints if they don't trade up.

North has said all along it would pick best available at 2. They can't control what the Click bait media and keyboard warriors say.

Yes Tauru would be a a good pick if a club was willing to help split our pick.

The Saints will be left with HBF types at 7. Wouldn't surprise me if saints do a deal on draft night with us to nab a LALOR /FOS/DRAPER/SMITH type.

How do you know that? Maybe Saints have tried to trade-up but North are being greedy.

You don’t know. You are just making assumptions.

It takes two to tango. North holds the pick and have to be prepared to deal it. The onus is as much on North as it is St Kilda.

history shows on here if this many people are going WTF then there tends to be an issue
Most people said that with NAS.
Yet here we are.

Were much keener to take the local pick rather than the skinny as flight risk.
