So just to confirm your thinking is we didn't offer enough to Nth or West Coast? So we should have offered 7 and 8? or you think we didn't offer our future first?
My thinking is that whatever we offered we didn’t get the job done.

I wouldn’t have wanted 7+8 offered.

But we had a full hand outside of that across both years picks

Boxall reads like a Dalrymple special but we do need a young ruck as I’m just not sure moose is going to cut the grade when push comes to shove.

Can grab decent rucks anywhere. I hate the idea of using top picks for them.

Stanley/Blicavs, Fort/OMac, Cameron/Cox, Nankervis/Grigg...

Only Gawn/Jackson & maybe Roughead/Boyd really performed with a top shelf ruck/forward combo.

Otherwise just grab a workhorse that can halve the contest and get around the ground.

Sure cant argue with that I guess. Personally I think everyone has been screwed by how much of a basket case Nth are. Carlton clearly thought Nth were going to take Tauru or trade back, same as us. It was a very different context during trade period. It only changed in the last few days that they were going to take O'Sullivan.

If this was 5 years ago I'd be in a different frame of mind but given how what we have been able to achieve the last 3 years via the draft and the overall better position we are in as a list I am happy to back the club in.

I highly doubt we just weren't urgent enough or just missed the boat with a trade.

Crouch will be picked up in the rookie draft then retire the next day, something to do with the payout

Makes sense.

We then get a spot for pre-season tryouts or hold until the MSD

Dude - north fans roasting saints fans and vice versa makes no sense. We are literally the same. One cannot offend the other without self inflicting some wounds.

We completely sold the farm for a speculative tall. You had your captain openly state you needed top end midfielders before selecting a couple of defenders. Let’s just call it a draw 😂
In your dreams we’re the same.

All I heard North fans say was that your picks are worth a ****ing bounty.

You traded a top 5 pick for some magic beans and your cohort is trying to laugh at my club for “not trading up and giving you 7+8 for 2”

We are not the same. We know our issues. We just aren’t swimming in ****ing delusion.

I don’t know what we offered WCE for pick 3 but with the hand we had it’s had to imagine how it wasn’t better than what Carlton stumped up.
Ultimately, SOS failed to read the state of play and was likely seduced by the fact that North Melbourne were trading pick 2.
By the time we realised they weren’t, we were left with no option but to stand pat.
Had we been more proactive, we would have had pick 3 instead of Carlton and the discussion about not drafting a genuine mid would be a moot point.
All pure assumptions and very likely incorrect

Thomas Sims is likely to still be on the board at our pick. Think he has a lot of upside.

Sure does. While him as a F/R is probably a good fit for him, I have always wondered if he’s played in defence. Would be hard to get around as an interceptor

Many a punter has made a claim like this (draft is a failure, we failed) after a draft and been made to look a fool in time.

Going up the order would have cost a ton. Let's wait and see how the players we picked turn out before labelling it an outrageous failure.

I reckon their hairstyles are the definition of their playing styles. Trav is all business and Tauru the rockstar. Alix Tauru even sounds like a 70s Italodisco star.
Wrapped to get the Viking. Looks like he needs a lot of physical development but he only turned 18 a few days ago and he hasn't been in an academy for years like many draftees these days.

No one is labelling those picks as failures ffs

People are lamenting the fact we didn’t land blue chip midfielders with 2 top 10 picks.

I love Travaglia's running ability.....if we have Wilson, Garcia etc and him running all game it places huge pressure on other teams.

Hoping he is similar to Wilson and can take the game on.

I am in the camp of extreme concern re our midfield stocks - there is a lot of what ifs and reliance on older players and potential of others to develop. No out and out guns.

Spose it is in Ross we trust - hope there is method in the madness with the game plan evolving not us taking pot shot.
Travaglia looks like he’s got to be 189 or so now or am I just old and stupid? Or both

I didn’t state that the draft was a failure but the objective of getting an elite young mid - given how public we have been in the recognition of the deficiency - was a failure.

Tauru and Trav may become the best two players of the draft but we still need to address the lack of seriously elite young mids on our list.

It was also pretty public that we were looking to either move up, or trade back into the draft to get a mid.

Yep, and now we know what we have who knows where these kids land in 5 years. Could be some embarrassing reviews. Might be absolutely spot on, but move on.

They said "SOS failed"

How do you know he failed? Failed to get what you want sure but to label the draft a failure is daft imo.
Failed to land a genuine mid in the draft which the club has publicly slated as a priority all season. Hard to argue with.

Failed at the draft? We won’t know for 5 years.
