a stupid idea or not, we committed to it, you can't then get blokes to do a full season, pour everything into it then completely renege on that deal. if you think thats a great way to operate then you're quicky going to piss people off and suddenly your word as an organisation means very ****ing little.
100% agree on this. I think it’s the stupidest concept ever invented. But we committed. There could be some other back room stuff, so who knows yet.

I understand the commitment to Crouch but am a bit miffed that so many players are just relisted. Not only by Saints.

We have had some absolute beauties come through the rookie draft as has others. All it is now is a list management vehicle.

We need to take a look at as many players as possible. The next Ro or Milne could be there.

It’s all ultimately the one collection of players. Said would be our rookie equivalent, otherwise Crouch would have had to remain on the main list.

I know it's been mentioned but James Barrat rolling in with the first 2/3 of an 80's fast bowler pr0n-stache at age 17 is just elite.

There's fully grown men in the AFL that would be intimidated by this.

Looking at you Darcy Moore...

Darcy Moore does not conform to heteronormative stereotypes such as "pornstaches" you bigoted ****. Don't let me catch you saying this shit around Brunswick or I'll bust out some devastating slam poetry.

When was this announced, was anything in writing or was this a we’re going to draft more locals, more dragons. Unless I’m mistaken I didn’t hear a word about this prior to the season, from memory it was in season.

Yes we’re trying to build something, we’ve just announced significant changes and appointed Goddard as coach. We have a full list with some experience and exciting young players, barring injury it should be a good year for sandy.

Ok over to sandy what are they doing to attract some top ups, are they talking to dragons who missed out on being drafted ?.
A couple of good experienced players for a change would be excellent - help coach and occasionally help make a final.

Yes and apart from the rookie list spot what haven’t we fulfilled ?. I will repeat unless you’ve read it you can’t say what was in it. To commit to drafting a player without any conditions is simply ludicrous, no on merit, and no control over other clubs drafting the best sandy player, just crazy.

It’s dead, let it go.

again... you're missing the point. no one is arguing that the idea is a good one or has merit. it looks pretty shit for the reasons we are looking at now. hell historically i can't think of the last time a mature age zeb was drafted.

people are criticising it because we have reneged on a commitment we our selves had set. if you think thats a normal way of operating then i don't know what to say.

i get you won't agree to this. hell you thought we hadn't really committed to anything bar some passing comments and seemed to think it was even mid season. so clearly you're not going to concede and admit that its poor management.

No I’m not missing the storm you’re trying raise in a tea cup. You and I have no idea what was in the fine print, it’s a stupid idea it’s done. This is the VFL where top ups forgo money and often a regular game to play at the highest level they can, it’s not the wafl.

We also have some few stand alone sides that can offer what we can’t, day 1 if we have a full list then they don’t play. Stand alone if you’re in the best 22 you play and you’re getting paid a reasonable amount. If you think we’re out there paying good money and finding employment and housing for interstate top ups I suggest you get think again.

A very rough positional breakdown after the draft. Some good coverage in every position now. Asterisk on those whose position hasn't been locked down yet or spends decent time elsewhere.

I'd have Wilson as a wingman and Jones inside mid. Probably Henry wing too.

I'm a bit annoyed we didn't draft Elwood and Adrian (and Lennox). Is there still a chance for the first 2, or are they going to have to prove themselves in the state leagues?
It's a bit sad to be honest, but all other 17 clubs didn't want Adrian and Elwood too. So basically, apart from romance - we probably had no other reason to grab them.

I find it sad though. The only way I can see them getting a chance is a LTI and I'm definitely not hoping that for anyone on our list. Lenny was probably the one most likely to make it, serious flaws with the other 2.

Hopefully they can train with us this year like Tarkyn did and if they improve they get a spot next year. It was always a year at Sandy anyway for them.

there's being ruthless and then there's being unreliable/untrust worthy. i don't think its ruthless. it's just poor management.

imagine a world where someone's **** up is then spun as being ruthless.

me: "i'll be in tomorrow boss"
boss: "ok"
next day
me: "sorry won't be today. i should never have said that."
boss: "I love the ruthlessness, admit the whole thing was a mistake and make the decision to say bad luck"
So what? It is only a bunch of second raters who don't deserve to be anywhere near an AFL list.
Could not care less. Ask any of the 6 drafted or Uncle Fester if they give a fig about some irrelevant internal announcement about a rookie spot.

Should we take the NGA's and FS even though they are no good?

Manufactured outrage and faux drama.

Adrian Cole & Harry Boyd

Well for all those whom I had emotive discussions with over the year re drafting them, it seems the 18 List Management groups thought the same. Most importantly ours! 😂

The positive is I dont have to hand my membership in over Boyd, it was an over the top claim but I felt that strongly about it.

In the end I succumbed to the forum/media opinions and conceded Cole might have found his way to the rookie list. Now he has missed out I feel disappointed for the kid, but there are other avenues to getting picked up. He needs to work hard on his offensive game and he might get a chance at some stage. Intercept marking is where defending is at, which was evident in our selections.

Peckett is really stiff the list numbers and sentiment just didnt work his way :'( ,would love to see him pop up on our list in the MSD.

Hofmann again stiff not to end up at the Saints, with our list balance we just had too many flankers on the list already.

I'm annoyed we didn't grab either NGA boy after making a fuss about the system but at the end of the day if they're good enough they'll make it.

I hope the club stick to their guns and tee off on how easily Brisbane picked up TWO players in the 1st round after winning the flag. They have an academy kid next year that people are saying will be top 10 as well.

Imagine if we could just add 4x first rounders from the Dragons to our list over the last few years?

Drop in Max Holmes (2020), Josh Sinn (2021), Cam McKenzie (2022) and Ryley Sanders (2023) and our midfield depth issues would vanish instantly.

I'm thinking Crouch will go straight onto the LTI list. Delist or not delist, the LTI list exists as a list to go onto when you are listed but not really listed but we promised to relist him, and no doubt Crouch insisted on the rookie list, so I reckon we'll resist the delist straight after the relist.
If you insist, but it’s a lot to digest

So just to clarify - we haven't taken a Sandy rookie? Proposal didn't even make it to one draft?

(Not saying we should, but we were all looking at Cole as the loophole and that hasn't happened)
