Had a read of Norfs draft thread from draft night. Amazing they spent more time shit canning us about not getting a mid slider than they did about their own selections. Absolute vitriol. Must admit I savored their posts around the time they traded a future 1st (will be top 3 pick) for pick 27 and selected some weird looking campaigner that resembled the mountain men from the hills have eyes. Delightful ending to a fantastic read in the end.
Didn’t they realise there was NO mid slider..North simply didn’t have balls to pick Tauru at #2!!

There opinion is that we should have traded 7+8 for 2

But that omits sanity and explains their stupid trade

Having had the opportunity now to listen to some interviews, Trav, Viking and Draper are head and shoulders above the rest. Smilie and Langford both left me feeling dumber for the experience and never got to hear Lindsay.
I think we've done alright. The first 3 l have no doubts about, and the others are always a crapp shoot anyway.

Yeah, it is a crap shoot.

Btw, I wouldn’t want to put a lot of faith in media skills anyway for footballers.

People need to go back to that pies game at the G where he had 6 centre clearances. He will be fine. Just needs to have a run at it.
I watched the replay of the game recently…he got a fair bit of it but foot skills are a concern, he also needs to spread more & get some easier possessions!
Tagger role suits him down to the ground.

I think compensation is based on finishing position, not what your picks are after trades.

The AFL determines the compensation pick, and an expert committee can recommend changes if the result is "materially anomalous". The compensation is then awarded based on the team's finishing position
In any case, NM would be more likely to let a wantaway LDU go to recuperate a high end Round 1 Pick (which they don't currently have).

LDU would be an enormous get.

Be interested as to what position the club see this new Irishman (Armstrong) developing into? I must say I have never seen too many completely bald head shaven 18 or 19 year olds running around. In the short video posted he looks to have an odd running gait but perhaps that is just his gaelic style.

He will get a shock when he arrives in Melbourne during summer for a pre-season, I hope he is used to wearing plenty of zinc!
Go easy on the bald stuff people…the lad may well have alapecia

I think it was probably him being one dimensional. He's a good stopper but that's all. And he can't play anywhere else.
Barratt (who probably took his spot) has played back, forward and even gone into the middle.
Apparently Barrett had a great dual with Langford, never took a backward step & got into him verbally and physically

Looking at his u13s photo I’d say that’s highly likely.

Besides its north.
So they’ll be given pick 1 whatever the rules are!

We should be aiming for finals and if Lyon doesn't make it happen or come close he should be under a lot of pressure. If the next challenge is without our older crew it will be a very long way off. Probably means 2030s before we are top 4 again and that's we can hold the side together.

Took over a side that sat on the fringes of finals and has been given everything we denied our last coaches and have a much better list. If at the end of his third year he hasn't progressed the side he probably needs to go for someone with some more energy and vision.

I like Ross and think he's a well above average coach but that doesn't give him a free pass.

And what if that person with 'energy & vision's has a different style of play they want to develop? Something that requires another "mini reset/rebuild/refresh" of the list?

How many times do we hit that button in order to get it right?

I honestly believe the club are looking long term here.

Yes, we would love finals in 2025 but only in that it makes the sell to LDU/Brayshaw/Callaghan that little bit easier.

The board, the coaches, the staff and, hopefully, the players are all buying into the idea that we want to be like Geelong & Sydney: Eternally entrenched in the top 8, always giving ourselves a shot.

Without the double dip of top end FS/NGA picks that's a much harder thing to achieve in a short time frame.

I'd honestly be really disappointed if we finished outside finals this year and Ross was removed. Mm

LDU will be a restricted FA. North will have the cap space to match. Won’t be easy, even if he wants to come.

If they match and we still want him, it will cost us a bomb.

TDK on the other hand would come easier if he decided he wants in. Carlton won’t have the cap to match.

NWM not yet signing is a massive watch also.

Interesting times ahead.

Makes it all the better that they have no F1 or Tauru instead of Tauru and 2 F1 ( still at least 1 F1 if they traded ours to Richmond for Whitlock).

How do you deal with that type of abject stupidity and incompetence?

I will sit here comfortable that we kept 7 and 8 and used them wisely.

Agree but if they match, we go to trade. Whereas if they don't match, they'd receive a Top 5 pick (which they don't currently have).

Our First and Future First might be 10 and 10 for argument's sake, worse with Academies and when we improve. Not matching and taking a Top 5 may now be more appealing.

We could sweeten the deal by paying overs for a fringe player as well.

Anyways pie in the sky stuff but my only point is- without a high end future First in hand now, NM's interest in a high-end FA compo pick should be increasing.

Haha my Pomeranian was taken home by my daughter a bit younger than he should have been. Now I don’t know if he’s a bit of a Div but at 18 months he still does the puppy squat to pee. He sees my pomchi **** a leg and I saw him try it once and almost fall over so he’s given up 🤣🤣.

When you judgemental types are old enough to have bone on bone in both knees and a hip replacement on the cards you’ll appreciate any chance to sit down.

I wish him the best but I think Smilie will be a bust. Also Smith.
I agree on Smillie I didn’t want him doesn’t look like an inside bull from what I’ve seen. Smith on the other hand looks as safe a bet to play 200 as there was in this draft.

Anyway it’s an opinion business so we can sit back and watch it play out over the coming years. I’m very happy with what we did and wouldn’t have changed much.
