Reckon Dattoli would be a handy addition at some stage... he reminds me of Dylan Moore. A smart mid/small forward that always seems to get into great scoring positions. Would compliment the brilliance of Lancey Boy very nicely.
Jesse has brilliant skills off both feet (one of the best in the draft). He is excellent o/head for his size. Has transitioned from a forward to a mid/forward this year (esp in APS). Still needs a bigger tank - 1 AFL pre-season would fix that.

Is he too much like Higgo for us?

I would split 6 for 2 later frdp & go tall for our 2nd

I’d rather keep Hotton than use a pick on him when we could get a Sims or Gerryn instead

Young players are too raw until suddenly they're not.

Opportunity is what they need. I recall plenty of talk about how Nas wouldn't be ready for 3-4 seasons to make any impact.

I remember plenty of talk about how Spencer White wasn't ready, and he never was.

Tom Gross is as brave, tough and hard working as any player in this draft pool. In a year less stacked with top end midfield talent he would be getting a lot more attention, but as it stands he's unfortunately flying well under the radar. Wherever he lands on draft night, he's destined to become an immediate fan favourite and have everyone asking "how did this kid slide so far?"

He’s an intercept defender which are some of the best paid. We will end up paying capital away to replace him with a worse player.
He is much more than an intercept defender, he is an attacking backman that runs hard off half back, has a booming kick and shows his versatility by going forward earlier this season.
Hawks have targetted a very good backman.

Give me Jason Akermanis at pick 48, please and thank you

Jeez, if we got out of the draft with Draper and Lalor I think I would need some alone time!!!
If Ashcroft is pick 2 we have 6 and 7 so Lalor and Trainor.
However I feel North may take Trainor and anyway it's just indicative only.
I still have a hankering over Smillie. I don't know, seduced by the Bont/Cripps big power mid.

If we got Battle compensation , and could somehow split it , and end up with , say Gross and Matt Whitilock as later first round picks, i'd consider that a great result.

I hope we land him with our second round pick. I see a midfield future with how he attacks the footy. Have been seriously impressed with him over the last few years. He had a few dominant under age games last year that made you think he’d be a potential early pick this year. Happy for him to slide under the radar

There's one true intercept marker in the top 10 (and only 3 in the top 20) plus a spud that Essendope overpaid by about $700k.

We'll have to replace Steele pretty soon so it's fortunate we might have an early pick or two to do so.
Interesting reading. Terrible top 3, and 6 of the 10 are either well past it or just flat out ordinary.

Obviously some back ended contracts having an impact. 1.5 for McKay, that's unreal. Throw in Gresh on huge money, u are dropping 2m on spud buckets. Delicious🤣
