Cal Twomey

“I like Adrian Cole a lot…ultra defensive”

“Hofmann really good size…40+”

“Peckett also in that range”

“Decisions to be made”

Beveridge mentioned some players he talked to said Hofmann was one of best opponents they’d played on

We can effectively get close to landing all 3 using P43 and 1 or 2 more late picks

Which means 27 is able to be used on getting 9.

Future picks for Macrae and soldo.

The skill of picking the ball up off the ground cleanly whilst in motion is not given enough kudos IMO. Lachie Neale is elite and never fumbles and I dont think it should be lost that the players mentioned are mostly shorter midfielders. Hugo Garcia has the potential to become that player for us, but if players have those elite skills, their height shouldnt be detrimental to their opportunities. Obviously the contrary is Patrick Cripps who uses his huge frame to create space, but he also is clean over the ball and a one grab player.

Hopefully we can add a player with those qualities to our list come draft night.
Yeah that and the ability to get space and dispose of it cleanly are the ingredients of a good midfielder. Height and size are nice but secondary to those skills. I still want a big guy for it's own sake so I'm locked in on Smillie and Lindsay now. Time to get the draft over with.

If we want Lindsay then I hope we trade our pick back. I think we might be able to get him a pick or two later with Travaglia Reid and Allan looking suitable for Carlton Richmond and Freo

this draft is crazy wide open... if twomey picks the first 20 accurately again like he has in past years im calling it rigged.. also f twomey guy is a twerp, seemed nice enough at first and then became a campaigner
He's not the worst, he is an Essendon supporter - so expectations need to be lower.

That’s not how the trade would work

They only trade AFTER Kako has already been bid on before 9 but not yet matched
No he's saying that it would be piss funny if they panic & trade pick 9 before a bid only for the next pick to be a bid on Kako.

Meaning that they could have kept #9 and still picked him up for junk picks.

In last year's Futures game, Xavier Lindsay showed us a glimpse of what he might be capable of as a rebounding defender. Tough in contested situations and elite with his disposal off half back, taking on creative and difficult options and executing with ease. One of the best performed players on the day.

Twomey reckons Kako interviewed by us, Demons and Richmond. He reckons Ess should look to move up to pick / to avoid having to use pick [emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] on him.

There is no way Essendon can trade-up into the top of this draft. They don’t have the draft capital.

They’re stuffed. They either have to trade-out (eg. [emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] for F and a nd) or trade-back (eg. [emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] for [emoji6] & [emoji6]).

The latter is possible.

Frantic centre bounce and contested work. Don’t mind it at all

He progressed from a talented, marking small forward into a jack-of-all-trades this year.

Played wing for Vic Metro, and did well
Played midfield for Carey GS, and had a 40+ possession game vs Caulfield
Played mid/forward for Nthn at the end of the year and was very influential/kicked goals

Here's an idea from left field, is there any merit in bidding for Malakai Champion with one of our early picks? Looks like the next Cyril Rioli to me. If WC match the bid, then we are screwing them over (not sure what benefit that has?). But the real kicker is that when we want to trade in Harley Reid at the end of '26, we offer them Champion and Collard amongst other pick/s.

Ok people its looking very much like Essendon have backed themselves into a corner with Kako and their pick #9. If we end up with pick #9 who do we take -

#7 Smillie/Langford
#8 Travaglia/Reid
#9 Hotton/Lindsay

All can play midfield with Hotton and Langford, Smillie, Reid also forwards, Travaglia elite HBF, Lindsay wing.
