We will win the flag in 2026

There's nothing surer... one of our Saints Mafia crew is getting hitched in the old country & our RWB fam will be heading over.... his planned date?

Late September 2026.

I wouldn’t give up a future 1st for 16.
Take away a Higgins last minute goal we would’ve had pick 5 this year.
Would you be happy with potentially trading pick 5 for 16? In saying that I do think we can make the 8 but it’s a massive risk.
But we are trading an F1 which will be p18 in 2025 so a good deal for us.

I think we will lean this way also. One of Smillie or Langford providing Norf slide back then we take Travalglia with next pick if we see him in the midfield mix. Lindsay also a chance.

I like Murphy Reid but is his athletic profile a concern? Shame he hurt his knee and couldn't test at the combine. Was it the Age had him sliding in their rankings after consulting recruiters? Recruiters have concerns about him as a bonafide midfielder at AFL level with his athletic profile. Still a chance we take him. Interesting to see where he lands draft night.

Having two of the best runners in the game in Wilson and Travalglia as part of our midfield brigade on the wings is appealing.

I do get annoyed by recruiters over thinking things. Reid will be a very good player. Dane Swan had a pretty ordinary athletic profile. Still went alright.

Ed Phillips and Matt Allison had great athletic profiles...

Funny you should mention it; I watched him and thought he was the Anti-Billings alpha dog we need. Mature, assured, commanding. Not a hint of shyness. For an 18-yr old about to hit the big time it's very encouraging.

I remember watching interviews of most of our first rounders Billings, Paddy, Gresham, Clark, and even others like Stuv, Sincs, Ross, Tim, Steele and so on and they mostly looked humble and unassuming, so it's no surprise that we played our footy that way. The phrase "Petrified of the spotlight" comes to mind. And we expected those guys to have the mental fortitude to front up every week and be effective within the ever-present pressure of saving our club from eternal ridicule. We expected some of them to lead our club.

I'd be rapt for Jagga to land at St Kilda. I would certainly hope anyone on our list management team who found him too floggy for the Saints would be immediately relieved of their duties and sent to Essendon like we did with the infamous Trout, albeit 10 years too late.
Did anyone ever have a problem with Robert Harvey?

We have the players to make the 8, but we need a lot to go right. We need a good run with injuries fora change, a fit and firing King. Henry to play all year, etc.

Improvement in the midfield will determine if we make it or not. Macrae will help, but we need to old Steele back, and players like Pou to emerge.

PS Nasiah the Massiah could be our man man next season.
Yep, and everyone else expects us to be garbage. I’m happy for the club to back itself. But F1 for 16 is people getting carried away.

Um, Swan was incredibly powerful and had that weird short step running style that meant he was pretty darn quick off the mark.

Last time we had 2 top ten picks we got Coffield and Clark.
Happened to be the weakest draft in years considering we have now got pick 3 in Dow for a second rounder.
Maybe Aaron Naughton, but Lachie OBrien and Aiden Bonar have not impressed and maybe only Zac Bailey as a mid.
We have pick 3, 7, and 17 (Higgins) on our list from that draft.
I tell you, this club is cursed.

Don’t know about cursed but we don’t have a lot of luck…some of our greatest prospects have got career ending injuries over the journey!

Genuine question for those who love Reid, who do you think he projects out to play like?

I’ve heard Pendles, but he’s 190cm (Reid 180cm) and I think is more athletic then is generally recognised.

Update on Elwood Peckett:

St Kilda has also put in a nomination for Elwood Peckett, a midfielder or half-forward from the Dandenong Stingrays who also made a VFL debut for Sandringham this year.

Elwood is the son of Justin Peckett, who played 252 AFL games for the Saints from 1992 to 2006.

Collingwood, who has three picks in the 50s, and Port Adelaide are among the clubs to show interest in Peckett.

Well, with Crouch going to the Rookie List, that's potentially 9 Primary List spots available.

What's everyone's hopes and dreams?

P7: Jagga
P8: Smillie
32: Faull
47: Blakiston
NGA: Cole
NGA: Hofmann
FS: Peckett
DFA: Tomlinson or Knobel
Rookie: Vesely
Doubt Tomlinson will get picked up by us, likely be Curtis Taylor…Knoble a consideration!

Disgusting

He was. Just a shame for Sydney that the 3 earlier picks in that draft were all complete failures.
The fabled Toce (Rip) had a ripper in 2022.

Hotton and Van Es delisted without playing a game.

Keeler now in a make or break season - still to debut.

Hopes high on Phillipou.

They all have these drafts. Why are you choosing (along with others) to beat one recruiter and not the other?

Fits our model and both should be available.
As a default it's an acceptable outcome, and if one of the top tier make it to us then so much the better.
Acceptable won’t necessarily cut it…we must go for best available and nail this draft
