Siposs looked like Goddard 2.0 when Watters played him at half back.

Richmond was adamant he play forward and that was the end of him.

For all the talk about Richo being the best development coach in the game (something I subscribed to) he sure did stuff a few kids up.

Siposs, Lee & Saad all went backwards.

Dunstan & Acres being played forward instead of on ball.

The constant flip flopping with Hickey & Longer.

Geez that was a dark time...
Yep, Trout set us up with the first punch and Richardson came in hard in the contest and knocked us out.

I remember the father and I’ve watched Ollie enough to say yes he’s had injury’s but he hasn’t shown much. I’m not keen on the younger brother for several reasons and doubt the club is so we just move on.
I had a few convoys with Ollie at training. He was very frustrated with the injuries and only really got back to play in the second half of the season.
I was a big fan of Hotton but he showed little at training and litter at Sandy.

Sad but some don't make it. My nephew is a star at district level but when called up to Williamstown he is in a different league, in and out of the team, pretty demoralising. Would be even harder at AFL level.

At the end of the day, the best ability is availability.

For several years, we have been impacted by injuries that see key players miss too much football or even niggles that ruin a players ability to have a strong preseason. Would have been easy and safe to give Hayes, Paton etc another one-year deal.

However, there is no point holding onto low-ceiling footballers who are unavailable during large parts of the year. Injuries don't just impact the AFl side, they do a disservice to the youngsters developing at Sandy. We saw this year that when we had a long injury list, we had to field an awful VFL side full of fill-ins that weren't up to standard.

Like many posters have mentioned, I am empathetic to players who get cut but I like the ruthlessness of the club. If you can't do what is asked, find another profession.

Also, it would be great to have strong season next year and force LDU to think about his future and potentially joining us. Getting a commitment from a player of his quality would be massive achievement for the club and put us in contention.

What us the issue?

He didn't prove himself to be worthy of a list spot so didn't get one.

I was a big fan of him in his draft year but he was very disappointing. That's footy. If he's as good as his family think then another club will take him tomorrow.

if he is good enough, he will get a second chance, and make the most of it.

Some pretty ordinary players there.

I never saw Siposs as Goddard anything, personally. I saw Hickey getting pushed aside by small forwards in boundary ruck contests. Saad covered more ground in his goalkicking runup than Longer covered in a quarter, and faster too. Not big or hungry enough to make it. If Dunstan and Acres were forward I don't remember it being for long enough to stuff them up. Dunstan stuffed himself up by not learning to kick.

I was on the Acres train, but he just needed mental maturity which he didn't have back then.

I can hardly even remember Lee tbh. The Richo years were dark, but honestly I remember them as the Geary/Seb/Dunstan years as much as anything. Good luck any coach with those 3 ball butchers on the park. 2 plodders and an all heart captain.

and has been dining out on it for several years now.
What do you mean dining out on it. He went to the States on a sport scholarship to do a business degree and didn't care if he was selected for the NFL, he just wanted the degree to be funded.
That he made twice as much as the highest paid AFL player for three years and played in a Superbowl is somehow big noting to you?
Sounds more like petty jealousy to me.

Now that he is retired (coaching at Colac), can we retire the "Seb couldn't kick" meme?

Good luck to the Colac lads. There'll be helicopters flying everywhere.

Cows in the paddock next door will be in mortal danger

Hope the Colac lads have special health insurance for broken fingers with all the upcountry mongrel punts coming their way from Timmy's nephew.

I think that's a "no" hahaha

Yeah, forgot about him - excellent first year IIRC?

And Allen before injury. And Penny…

FMD Luke Penny... Geez we've had some shit luck. Dyl Roberton anyone?

Surely we're due some "I can't believe North/Richmond/Melbourne drafted X before the Saints got a 4x BnF winning Norm Smith medalist at pick 7 and a 3x time AA captain at pick 8!" type luck?!?

Goose before breaking his leg 06

FB: Attard - Penny - H.Goddard
HB: Roberton - Maguire - J.Smith
C: Hannebery - Crouch - Freeman
HF: L. Fisher - Hamill - J.Cripps
FF: X.Clarke - McCartin - T.Lynch
R: Brooks - Lovett - B.Howard

Now that we have all of that shit out of the way...

8 + F1st
for
2 + F2nd from North

OR

F1st
for
16 from GWS

What do we prefer? Move a pick for a mid-late 1st this year OR move up to pick 2 for FOS/Lalor/Smith in exchange for dropping back next year?
