Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but our worst case scenario appears to be we actually use picks 7 and 8 in a highly rated draft year. Is that right? Like for real life?

I don’t actually care what we do from here, if we do end up splitting 8 or whatever on the night etc.

WHAT A BLOODY FANTASTIC POSITION TO BE IN HEADING TO THE DRAFT.
Worst case scenario none of Lalor,FOS, Jagga, Draper, Smillie, Langford fall to us and we are left spending our 7 and 8 on Tauru/Allan/Armstrong

At this point I would prefer to just trade down and split both. While still having a chance to grab Reid, Hynes, Travaglia, Lindsey, Trainor etc

In that case I think you grab Tauru first at 7 to get the best looking tall in the draft then split 8 for 2 later mids.

I think we’re making the same point ya goof!

So remember this mornings post when I said Chris Cavanagh has no clue as he said we weren’t talking to the Giants and the Herald Sun had literally reported we were 2 days ago?

Article has been updated…bolded was my info from yesterday 😂

The Saints are far from certain to use their second top-10 pick. They have been interviewing players who are more in the late-teens range of the draft, leading industry insiders to join the dots and suggest St Kilda might be looking to split this pick for two of Greater Western Sydney’s three first-round selections.

The Giants have been telling people they haven’t been approached about such a deal, but GWS list boss Jason McCartney and new St Kilda recruiting manager Simon Dalrymple were former colleagues at the Western Bulldogs and have a good relationship.

If it turns out north are going to take a mid then I’d be trading up to 2, we need a high class mid. Maybe 7+F1 for 2, then 8 split with GWS.

2- FOS, Smith or Draper
15&16 - Trainor and Hynes (or hold 8 for Allan)
They are not going to do 7 and F1 for 2. They'd want like all of our later picks this year as well as the F1 and F2

I cannot imagine he doesn’t. If he gets through to 7 or 8 they’ll come from the clouds with offers
Who cares, what am I missing you can draft a kid who looks a future champ and you want to trade the pick ?. I’d be happy to walk away with Reid and Tauru or Trainor, how is that not a great night.

You don't need to hold 8 for Allan. I'm sure Richmond would love pick 8 to get ahead of Melbourne, in exchange for their pick 10 and something worth our while for the privilege!

They won't do it because 7 doesn't guarantee them Tauru. They've said they are willing to slide a few spots, not back to 7. Pipedream.

Just dont want to go down the Chris Pelchen "quantity over quality" route and mess it up...again
That's where having the second first rounder is huge - use one for quality, one for quantity if we're not happy with the options at the latter.

This might explain why we arent going as hard for pick 2 as I initially thought

Minimum of 4 years at the draft...not a maximum

If we do well this year then we can consider 'sprinting' from 2025 onward. If not, we go again even in a compromised draft

Twomey was as recent as last week saying we are shopping our F1 to get back in.

As far as I’m aware. The clubs isn’t concerned about using their F1 this year.

They believe that:

We will get another First rounder next trade period

Or

Land a free agent equivalent.

That’s a brave call.

" For someone who can compete in all three areas of the ground and possesses the traits Tauru has, and given the level of interest across the board from nearly every club, he will be in high demand.

However, with the top end talent of this draft being dominated by pure midfielders it could be possible he could either end up in the top 10 or fall just outside it.

While the scary thing is that he hasn’t even scratched the surface of his potential yet, the fact is there is no position set for him due to his versatility and ultimately the club that selects him will be doing so based on where he fits into their side and where they see him contributing in two to five seasons time.

Come draft night, though, it will be a matter of how far he slips."

Any idea what our future first would get us in this draft?
