The club got what they wanted for Battle, now have been "outmaneuvered"

Time for the victim mentality to stop

I'm happy with pick 7-8

Pick the best available, don't go crawling to other clubs to "help us"... cause they won't
Yes they did get out manoeuvred. Our interest for #3 was reported by Ryan Daniel’s.

Our interest in 9 was reported by sen.

We got neither.

No that would be utterly horrific.

7+F1 is a fair deal.

Take the mid we want.

Split 8
But North hold the cards so a fair deal isn't on the table. Plus we have likely already offered this and been knocked back. Great if they accept it on draft night but I would say super unlikely.

You say we have a gaping hole in our list, which O'Sullivan fills.

We don't need to piss around with extra flankers to maximise 8's value with quantity. Let's just address the gaping hole of an A grade star midfielder. Carlton get it. WB did it with Sanders.

Why are we so into self destruction and continually refuse to do what is necessary.

All the guys in the top 7 fill a need for us whether its Tauru (superstar potential and fills a positional need) or one of the top 6 mids. Keep 7 no matter what...unless we trade up. Essential we retain a pick in the top 7

Keep pick 8 until we are on the clock. If one of the top 7 are still available then take them and trade F1 for 15 or 16. If not, then a Reid would be ok only if we get Langford or Smillie at 7. However, I see better value in splitting 8 for 15&16 for Lindsay/Trainor/Hynes/Berry/Allan/Hotton

I personally feel like the club is in very capable hands right now. The messaging over the last 2 years has been consistent with my own thoughts.

The team involved now is vastly different from that of the mistake ridden past that we've all rehashed over and over again.

Almost every week Ross speaks about our lack of midfield craft, would be astounded if we don't pick up at least 1 genuine mid gun if not 2

We’re after more first round picks, not less
Yes mate. I’m aware they want more.

Which is likely were 8 comes into play.

My issue is if that midfield talent doesn’t land at 7. We are unfortunately in a very odd place.

The momentum has very much been that a mid gets through. There was some brakes placed onto that in the last 24 hours.

Twomey has said he’s found it a lot harder to work out his mock draft this year compared to other years due to the evenness of the draft and teams having multiple picks. I wouldn’t be 100% confident in his mock draft at our picks come Monday when it drops.

I get the feeling Twomey is having a hard time judging our picks. Lists us as a chance of taking the following players with 7/8:

Jagga
Draper
Smillie
Reid
Tauru
Armstrong
Allan
Travaglia
Lindsay

This is good for the trade value of #8. I think there will be a twist or two on draft night. Will be good fun.
Pick 7 who’s left
Jagga
Draper
Smillie
Tauru

Pick 8 mix
Reid
Armstrong
Allan
Travaglia
Lindsay

Future AA defender…if he’s available we take him
Jeez I hope not - I think he's got a fair bit of the Jack Lukosious about him.

Potentially very good but not great and it might take a few years to figure out the best way to use him.

If the choice was Tauru at 8 or splitting it for Picks 15/16 from GWS and then picking up Lindsay and Shanahan its no contest.

Sincs ain’t getting any younger… just sayin’.

Worst case scenario we get an explosive half back out of it.

If we could somehow toss 8 to slide back a couple of spots and take him anyway I’d be more comfortable with it.

I know we have struggled but inside mids should be a lot easier to get hold of. I think our inability to attract them and draft them has made us hyper focussed. Guys like Hobbs and Ward can't get on the field and Bytel was like that for us. You can only carry so many in one side.

Multiple position mids are the ideal these days. Not against it at all. Lyon loves run and he's a runner.

Swish. He’s definitely angling for the slider swoop in for our pick 7.

My thinking for picks 7/8 with a week to go.

Lotto win outcome: Jagga

Best case: Draper / Reid

Most likely: Smillie / Reid

Worst case: The Viking / Reid

Split pick 8 chances: 1 in 3

I still have faith a highly rated mid will fall to our first, plus the club getting the absolute best out of this draft possible. They will have contingencies for every possible outcome and will already be locked in who we pull the trigger on the night.

Just remember 12 other clubs in the comp will be envying our position come draft night! Im sure we will make the most of it. Its just the anticipation and our poor history that has us supporters jumping at shadows.

It’s all conjecture..don’t stress!

Wonder if we could see a 3 way trade between us, Richmond and GWS.
Richmond get up to pick 8.
GWS get up to 10
St Kilda get 2 first rounders.
And a number of picks change hands between the 3 clubs within the 1st and 2nd round.

Can 3 club pick trades happen in live trading?

I’m aware of what this is fellas.

I’m asking you to read where he thinks the players kinda of fit

For example he doesn’t think Langford makes it to 7.

But Hones in on Murphy Reid for us
if murphy reid and the sliding to 7 mid(draper jagga langford smillie),plus meh at 32 & our 3 linked players is the worst we can do,then im happy

but even more so to make a move, those giants picks increasing our first round picks to 3 has me frothing

but warming to reid,if he seems inevitable lets do it

There’s a lot of talk about the top bracket mids, however who’s to say the likes of Allen, Smillie, Reid, Travaglia & Lindsay won’t be terrific AFL players

We’re supposedly already in talks with those clubs so maybe a deal has already been agreed upon for draft night

If we are sitting at pick 8 and it's between Armstrong or a mid and the club rates Armstrong the highest, the last thing they should be doing is considering the option of the fans. SOS isnt going to turn to the room and say "Look, I know we project Armstrong to be best available but a couple of posters on BigFooty think we need mids with 7 and 8 so we should pass on him and draft a mid we rate lower".

They dont care and shouldn't care about whatever disgruntled posts come the day after the draft. The opinion of amateur draft watchers and il-informed fans is the last ones they should be taking into account.

The toy throwers are one of the highlights of the morning after the draft! The wobblies thrown by many after the selection of Nas was amusing to say the least (And I was absolutely in the 'take Hobbs' group).

Anyway, we all agree that we need a bonafide game changing mid... but we need a few things to go our way for that to happen.

If the worst case happens & the dumb arse tin rattlers of Arden St take another mid than we take the Barks/Rooey clone & hope like hell that one of the mids available at our later picks is a jet.

North are keen to offload they're F1 if they can find a pick back in this year.

Would they do 2+F1 for 7+8...?? If they finish bottom 4 again, which you have to think would, could end up wit O'Sullivan this year and Dyson Sharp next year
if that happens, we barrack for two teams next year, Saints and any team that plays North. fun.

The players have forgotten about round 23.
The Bloos fans have forgotten about round 23.
The “cultcha” has forgotten about round 23.

Our club will be sorely aware of round 23 if we miss out on all elite mids. Especially in the context of next year’s heavily compromised draft and the imminent arrival of Tasmania.

I don’t care how you try to spin it. Promoting an acute sugar hit over core list requirements for the next decade is a borderline room temperature IQ take.
