Why Lindsay and not Smillie?

As I said, I think he could end up as a third tall our utility type. He seemed to get caught a bit and he won't have the luxury of fending players off him as easily when his size advantage is minimised. His attitude at the champs really concerned me too. He seemed to be coasting. He's talented enough that he could play 150 to 200 games as a good but not great utility or third tall but midfield he'd have to commit to a pretty serious fitness base. He looks a solid frame kid unlike Cripps and Bont. I think he'd have to work his arse off to stay mobile enough.

No, I just thought it was funny that it's clear that Reid fans completely ignore his deficiencies in favour of the flashy stuff he does. Eye candy

Literally one media outlet has Reid top 5. I already acknowledged that. But again, refer to the screenshot I sent
Would you have passed on Dangerfield because of his poor disposal?
Not saying Reid is Dangerfield, he may be a total bust, who knows, but if thats the criteria, many a top ten pick would not have been selected. All players have deficiencies, but you again seem to disparage him by calling his play 'eye candy' like it is lightweight and all show.
I get you prefer others, however you seem to take it as an affront others think he can be a valuable AFL player.

Anyway, to each their own. Whomever we select, I will back and hope they kill it.

Cheers go Saints.

Jagga 100%

There's a reason why Jagga's range is 1-7 and Reid's is 8-17

Jagga is a mass accumulator. He's a nimble little human rabbit man that chases a ball like a Jack Russell on speed. Reid is a creator. He does the sublime stuff that looks beautiful.

Some people like to hang the same picture on the wall as everyone else. Others shop in galleries down laneways that only a few are allowed even look at and come home with a piece of art that needs to be explained to all your guests so that they understand it. Reid is a giant phallus like sculpture that makes you question the patriarchy and your existence in a meaningless world. Jagga is more a nicely framed Keith Harring poster from Ikea that all your friends have in their kitchen.

Agree Joffa

That Higgins ball floating for what seemed an eternity and from the other end of the ground what looked closer towards the roof than the goals is still a thing of living beauty.

That split second of silence then the roar of the Saints supporters. The Saints supporters then waving their scarves like maniacs and the smug f*ing Bloos supporters with heads in hands.Glorious. (ok that was me)

An 18 year old kid who's future is unknown over that beautifully magnificent floating sherrin? Nah the game is the thing. WinnIng games and shutting up your most hated opponents. That goal makes me laugh every time I see it with pure joy.
The finish to that game was absolutely magic Parky.

I've seen some awesome wins against the Bloos in my time and that one was right up there.

With 12 seconds left on the clock.

When Pou missed that regulation "soda"....I thought we were sunk.

Your spot on....Higgo's shot was "hanging there " forever....it was torture watching it float in with seconds to go.

So so glad I was there for the win.......the memory will last for a very very long time.

We are not talking about a top 5. We are talking about a top 6...7 if you want to include Ashcroft

In this case, Ashcroft, Jagga, FOS, Lalor are all unanimously top 7. Then you have Draper who ranges from 2-10, Langford from 3-10, and Smillie from 7-8

Reid ranges from 5-18, Allan from 9-19

If you don't believe me, then believe the numbers determined by guys who are paid to have an opinion on this

Don't believe anyone. It's all guess work and they watch the same shit as us. I think there is a likely top 10 or so but the talent levels aren't as far apart as normal. I think the top 30 of this draft is probably the hardest to predict ever. I'm not convinced that guys taken in the 20s won't be the pick of the bunch and a few favourites won't bust.

If Jagga/Langford/Reid are available with pick 7, I’m taking one of them.

Not a fan of Draper.

I’m then giving GWS our Pick 8 for their Picks 15 and 16 and hoping like crazy that X Lindsay is available at 15 and then using 16 to get the best tall available.

What BS rhetoric? Phillipou at pick 10 is better than Tsatsas at pick 5. And how the hell would you know who is going to be the best at AFL level.
I understand that it is a loser mentality to continually whinge and moan and b!tch we won a game at the end of the season instead of throwing the game.
That is totally embracing mediocrity and it is one of the big reasons this club has been a loser and an irrelevant laughing stock of the competition since 1897.
When will this victimisation and petty ad nauseum repeating of the woe is me grievances stop?

The Kruezer Cup gave the tankers Carlton a no.1 pick. How did that go for them. GWS and GC have had a thousand top ten picks with I grand final in a combined 22 or 23 seasons.

The facts are that teams like North have been a basket case for half a decade and that's why they get top picks. They looked garbage all season.
Once we were over our injuries we won 6 out of the eight games playing terrific football. I was happy to see the potential and Kemp should have nailed the game for Carlton. We played out the full 4 quarters and the players were absolutelty delighted to win. A great sign of what the club is trying to achieve after being a basket case for decade upon decade.

This club is built on myth and messiah complex. It has been combined in this latest complaint. The myth a toe poke or a bounce and we have 2 flags, disregarding the fact we kicked ourselves out of the game in 2009. and there was still 1:20 on the clock in 2010.
We fool ourselves with messiahs, Barks, Plugger, Harv's, GT, Lyon, Lyon again. All going to take us to the promised land.

This time because we won games in a season we are finished because we wont get footballers who are subjectively rated stronger on underage football than others in the most even draft in decades.

We got pick 7, and got pick 8 when we deserved an end of 1st round pick which gives us prime position to get a quality mid, even two, or split the pick get a very good mid and maybe a slider like a Trainor.

So while I see the whinging about us winning a game, to me it is just pitiful and quite frankly a bit pathetic and I think no wonder some of our supporters are treated with distain and are laughed at.
What makes you think we deserved an end of first round compensation pick?

The rules are the rules. We would have received pick 2 if we finished last. I’ve read this a few times on this forum & there seems to be some sort of belief that the AFL “looked after us & if we finished any lower, the compo would of been end of first round.

That is factually incorrect.

I don't. I only talk about my opinion of Reid when people either challenge my opinion or just have a go at anti-Reid people for no reason - like the quote that started this entire conversation

Yes but when you have a consensus, its hard to argue. People on here call bs on the claim that there is a top 6 of open-pool mids when in fact there is evidently a top 6 when you watch the Champs games, CTL games, and observe the opinions of 'experts'. Not just the 5 minute highlight reels on YouTube. The consensus rankings I sent is something you can't argue with unless your ego is beyond help (not directed at you)

I reckon we’ll give 8 and 32 to GWS for 15 and 16. People will say we don’t need to give up 32 but we wouldn’t need it anyway with the amount of list spots available.

I reckon these will be our picks:
7 - Smith
15 - Lindsay
16 - Shanahan
47 - Cole
80 - Hoffman
Rookie - Peckett

I also think we’re a chance to trade back in late to grab Blakiston, future third special.

I would cartwheel if we got this hand.

Although I think with pick 16 we pick up Dattoli.

No that would be utterly horrific.

7+F1 is a fair deal.

Take the mid we want.

Split 8
I can see a 3 way deal with GWS happening, especially if Lalor goes pick #1.

Saints
GIVE - 7, 8, F1
GET - 2, 16, 21.
(FOS or SMITH / LINDSAY / DATTOLI)

GWS.
GIVE - 15, 16, 21.
GET - 8, F1

North.
GIVE - 2.
GET - 7, 15

But North hold the cards so a fair deal isn't on the table. Plus we have likely already offered this and been knocked back. Great if they accept it on draft night but I would say super unlikely.

You say we have a gaping hole in our list, which O'Sullivan fills.

We don't need to piss around with extra flankers to maximise 8's value with quantity. Let's just address the gaping hole of an A grade star midfielder. Carlton get it. WB did it with Sanders.

Why are we so into self destruction and continually refuse to do what is necessary.
North have come out and said they want x2 picks in the 1st round with pick 2.
No Futures

All the guys in the top 7 fill a need for us whether its Tauru (superstar potential and fills a positional need) or one of the top 6 mids. Keep 7 no matter what...unless we trade up. Essential we retain a pick in the top 7

Keep pick 8 until we are on the clock. If one of the top 7 are still available then take them and trade F1 for 15 or 16. If not, then a Reid would be ok only if we get Langford or Smillie at 7. However, I see better value in splitting 8 for 15&16 for Lindsay/Trainor/Hynes/Berry/Allan/Hotton
Exactly

All right then, let's just give them what they want.

I want Lalor or O'sullivan playing in our midfield next year and don't care whether we could've had a Allan, Berry, Whitlock etc instead as non-mids are not the priority.

Lalor for Tauru+Reid is the trade we're most likely talking about.

Langford won’t get past Melbourne #5…Jagga, Reid, Allan & Smillie are all chances to slide, depending how the cards fall
I'm hoping that North can do a deal with Melbourne giving them Pick #2 for Melbourne's pick #5 and a future pick.
I'd be confident of Tauru being taken at #5 leaving one of the first set of mids to us at #7

Alright plebs... post who you don't want ... even if they are likely to be taken before our 1st pick .... the pick has to be a player in or around the expected Top 15 ... no need for an explanation just put your balls on the chopping block

Just copy the list that the previous poster posted .... hit reply add your pick and post .... we can keep the list for posterity and ridicule purposes

And fk it ... I will do Akaifu's & Gringo's as well ... given their pet hates are well known
