If the 6 mids go then we take Reid at 7, and split to get more mids if GWS want 8 and 32 then we get 15 and 16. Be great to get a mid like Lindsay or Travaglia as likely Allen goes to WCE Berry to Port.

If Freo take a mid we could be left ironically choosing between Hotton oops and two talls in Trainor and Shanahan and maybe even Tarau.

Think Tiges will take Tarau if he's there and/ or run the risk with Hotton and Trainor because they already have 2 best available mids and they can risk an injury stretch.

Which leaves Lindsay Travaglia Armstrong to be taken most likely before our pick...so if our aim is to get 2 rated mids from the draft probably we do not swap, if we just want as many best available as possible we swap.

i think Tauru will be a fantastic player but i don't think it's a need. i feel very uneasy pulling that lever. similar to how i felt about mccartin, albeit i think Taura has a higher chance of success.

Twomey on Tauru from yesterday’s Gettable:

“Strongly linked to North of course, they are looking to go down the order if they can, can they shift down a couple of spots?”

Can they take him at 2? “They could, they could also move to 4 and comfortably grab him there”

“Melbourne, St Kilda also in his draft range inside the 10 so he couldn’t slip back too far, Richmond’s done it’s work (on him) as well”

“I think if he reaches the back end of the top 10, clubs will try to buy back in to take him”

“He’s a star”

Which would you prefer
You asked the question and this trade came to mind (without research).

I wouldn't ever trade a F1 as has been mooted on the forum.

There is no crystal ball on how we will perform next year.

Even Basset in Saints TV's interview said we may need a couple more years of drafting. Basset also said we had made a mistake in ignoring the draft six or so years ago.

Trading away your future picks ain't a good idea.
By the time Tasmania comes in we need to be mostly looking at topping up. Not trying to draft young players.

Ross is gonna read this thread and demand we take Armstrong at 7 to troll us
Hope Armstrong does go at 7. That means Richmond get him thanks to the Ashcroft bid which leaves someone more suited to tumble to us.

Alright plebs... post who you don't want ... even if they are likely to be taken before our 1st pick .... the pick has to be a player in or around the expected Top 15 ... no need for an explanation just put your balls on the chopping block

Just copy the list that the previous poster posted .... hit reply add your pick and post .... we can keep the list for posterity and ridicule purposes

And fk it ... I will do Akaifu's & Gringo's as well ... given their pet hates are well known

Who Don't You Want

Sarcoidevo - Armstrong

Don't want any of the talls (except Tauru), Travaglia or Allan with 7 or 8. Would be fine with them if we split 8 but don't want them with a top 10 pick.

I have said this before, but the "who I don't want" phenomenon in this thread is an example of what we should avoid.

There are probably very few of us who have done enough research and watched enough of the U16, U17, and U18 matches to have a say in which draftee represents the beast available for us at each pick we hold (and will hold, given the possibility of pick trades).

Our recruiting team HAVE done the work.
They know what qualities Ross Lyon feels are important and they also have been feeling out the other clubs' recruiters to see what is needed in order to make a trade work for us.

I am happy to accept the draftees our recruiters select for us - they are the experts

It is important not to grow too attached to a draftee you think is best for us as that may lead you to be disappointed unnecessarily. Similarly it is important not to form a strong negative opinion about a draftee because if we do draft that player, it may taint your view of that player for years to come.

Also - the kids lining up to be recruited may actually hop on-line and visit club boards to see what the fans are saying about them. Hopefully their path to playing for St Kilda isn't muddied by some wannabe expert telling everyone how terrible they are.

All the guys listed in the "Who you don't want" will probably end up guns ... ridiculous concept

I'd take them all in a heartbeat.

Murphy Reid, if you are reading this.

Avoid akaifu posts.

cheers.

Your acting as if he is a complete spud ala Paul Hunter.

He has arguably shown a lot more at state level.

Taking another 18 year old kid doesn’t resolve the issue as it’s likely they won’t be physically ready for the gig if required.

Heath was recontracted post the soldo debacle and that says more about Heath then the club.

He's an emergency depth ruck. You aren't getting a gun for that role. Either option is fine. That said Campbell was a gun at VFL level for a long time. Looked ordinary as an AFL footy player.

I'd be happy to not worry about a depth option and play Moose if needed. If he goes down put Cordy in.

I’m confused. You don’t want Bo Allan but then your also don’t want Tauru?
