Devils advocate, usually the most agreed to trades are those that move you back slightly for a small price, rather than wholesale changes like a 13 or 15, 16, 21 trade would.

A few reasons for this - you keep a strong presence in the draft, only moving back slightly, whilst the motivation for other teams to trade in is a small jump over another interested party for a key draftee.

Maybe the likelier move is to shift back from 8 to one of Richmond (10 or 11) or GWS (13 or 15) picks and get a bit of capital back.

Well it gives the giants 13+15.

So 8 + 32 for 13+15.

Gives us 7+13+15

Gives the giants 8+29+32+37

Would mean for us:

7: slider or Allan/Tauru
13: Lindsay
15: Shanahan/Trainor

Would prefer F1 & 32 (47 in a one sided ideal world) for 15.

7: Slider (from 1 to 8 range)
8: Slider (from 1-8 range)
15: Slider (from the 8-20 range)

Sounds silly saying slider, but that pick 15 is literally the Slider spot for the second rung of players this year.

Or… 7+15 gets pick 2

So we would have 2+13

I think I'm off pick 2. Tauru now seems too valuable for us. As in, someone may well sell the farm for him at 7, alternatively we'll definitely get a top talent if he goes before us. Too high of a price to pay for mine.

As much as I absolutely love FOS, there really isn't anyone in the top 10 without some form of question mark against their name.

Lalor: soft tissue injury risk, plenty of strings to his bow - but one of them has snapped
FOS: injury risk, if it was only his hand injured, I am now concerned as to why he didn't have fitness on his return.
Draper: back/shin stress fractures, never heard of a right foot kick
Langford: lack of pace/separation
Smillie: man child, temperament, goes into the next Cripps category bust the same as the next Buddy bust category. Hair is too pretty.
Reid: asificu doesn't want him
Allen: can't midfield or kick good, surname has confusing spelling
Armstrong: only kicks goals because he eats at the Sandringham buffet and was coached by Lloyd
Lindsay: outside leaning Dylan Stephens nightmares for Dalrymple
Trainor: so many concussions he thinks he is actually playing with Doug Wade
Hotton: delisted his brother, family sad

Anyway, I think I've gone off on a tangent, where was I?

Dylan Alexander's take of the best outcome for Stkilda from the draft
Pick 7 Either Smillie or Allan
Pick 8 Taj Hotton (Speed forward of centre)
Pick 32 Small Forward Hannaford/Algar
Pick 47 Match for Cole

Once again this guy needs to learn to just not say anything if he has no idea

I'll give him Smillie, but to suggest that one of the two BEST outcomes is that we take a very raw defender/pseudo mid and a speedy forward who has missed an entire year with an ACL and whose brother we just delisted is batshit mental.

One if not both of 7 and 8 are reserved for inside midfielders, and then we can look at what talls remain with pick 32 (or by trading back into the first round late).

I hear that Draper sleeps with the light on. Would definitely avoid him if I were one of the notorious lights off clubs like Richmond, North, Carlton, Adelaide, and Melbourne.

So Jagga is the only bust proof player?

my ranking using the top 15 prospects from the various mocks (removing father son and acadamies):

Normal elite cream of the crop
.......
GAP
.......
1. Smillie
2. FOS
.......
GAP
.......
3. Draper
4. Lalor
5. Langford
6. Tarau
......
GAP
......
7. Trainor
8. Hotton
9. Smith
10. Allen
11. Murphy Reid
.....
GAP
.....
12. Armstrong
13. Lindsay
14. Travaglia
15. Berry

its a seriously disappointing crop if i had a top 5 pick. i'm not sold on it. think its a bit meh.

He’s a ripper but I think FOS or Draper suit your needs.

ideally it'd be draper to go with a taller or more hardened inside mid.

the smillie and draper combo is the one i'd hope for but i think both will be gone before our pick

This draft if a damn mess haha. All I know is none of you have a damn idea, except for that one person with that one specific permutation, that looking like a hecking genius, and just in case it's me Smillie/Allen for 7 and 8. I have no idea what happens.

When Tauru gets picked ahead of us, and we all scream with joy knowing a top mid will fall to us. just remember the screams of joy we all let out when Ess picked Laverde, leaving us free to pick... Hugh Goddard

It's going to be:

Reid & Smilie or Langford
Or
Reid & Tauru
Or
Reid & 15 & 16

Murphy Reid, if you are reading this.

You are my idol. My brother from another mother. My day 1 OG. Top of my draft board since I saw you walk on water against Country. I hope you are wearing the Red White and Black in 2025.
Very deary me

Reckon we’re gonna get some ridonculous offers for pick 8️⃣ on the night.
Is there any scenario whatsoever where we would give up both 7️⃣ and 8️⃣ ??
Yep, 7 for a F2, swap of F3s, 28 and 62 for points; 8 for F2, F3, and 40.

Leaves us with 28, 32, 40, 47. And 3 F2s and 2 F3s.

Killing it. Hawt

I’m pretty upset by this.

I wouldn’t say heartbroken. But hopefully you’re referring to almost everybody else.
